A native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Daphne, AL died in a Birmingham, AL hospital on Friday, December 10, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Daena Elizabeth Rich of Daphne, AL; two daughters, Bonnie Elizabeth Rich and Lauren Lee Rich, both of Daphne, AL; his parents, Herbert and Genevieve Rich of Mobile, AL; two brothers, Serge Rich and Dennis Rich of Mobile, AL; his grandmother, Effie Lee Rich of Foley, AL; his mother-in-law, Marlyne R. Mulry of Perdido, FL; his father-in-law, Bobby Harrison of Spanish Fort, AL; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, on Monday, December 13, 1999 at 1 P.M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 P.M . until 8 P.M. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Mildred Handley Riddle:
Funeral services were held from Springhill United Methodist Church, Saturday, December 11, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Robert D. Penton officiating. Pallbearers were Bryce Russell, Howard Valentine, Charles Dupree, Danny Hellman and Sean Hellman. Interment was in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mr. Burnell "Bubba" Riggs, Sr.:
A native of Natchez, MS, longtime resident of Mobile, departed this life on Thursday, December 9, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Riggs and father, Cornelius Riggs, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Keisha Riggs; four sons, Kevin (Darlena), Burnell, Jr. (Yolanda), Marcus and Michael Riggs; 9 grandchildren, a devoted mother, Estelle Riggs; one brother, Cornelius Jr.; six sisters, Dorothy (John) Carey, Stella (Amos) Molette, Jeannie (James) Reid, and Mary Anne, Diane, Linda Riggs; a longtime best friend, Arthur Williams and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and other friends. His remains will lie in state at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home Monday, December 13, 1999 from 1-5pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Eric Roberts:
A native of Miami, FL and a resident of Theodore, AL died Thursday, December 9, 1999. An employee of C&G Shipbuilding. He is survived by his daughter, Nikki Elizabeth Roberts; his wife, Amanda M. Roberts both of Theodore, AL; his parents, Donald and Lana Roberts; two brothers, Wesley Roberts and Jason Roberts, all of Theodore, AL; one sister, Lana (Walter) Hudson of Mobile, AL; aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 13, 1999 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Serenity Funeral Home. Sis. Pearl Laundrine Shamberger:
"And behold I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Rev. 22:12. On December 9, 1999 the sweet spirit of our beloved Sis. Pearl Laundrine Shamberger, slipped quietly away to join the Savior in that home not made with hands, but eternal in the Heavens whose maker and builder is God. Sis. Shamberger was born July 4, 1907, the child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donice and Pearl Laundrine. She confessed Christ at an early age, at which she united with the First Baptist church, Mt. Vernon, AL. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Dea. Frank Shamberger. Upon her moving to Mobile, she united with the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church No. 2 until 1983 when she united with the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Dortch. She served as Deaconess, and in the Mass Choir until her health failed. She leaves to cherish her memories one loving and devoted son, Joey Shamberger of Mobile, AL; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Shamberger of Cali fornia, Mary Lee Shamberger, Willie Shamberger, both of Mobile, AL; several nephews, five devoted, Louis Payne of Mobile, AL; a number of nieces, six devoted, Rosie Lee Goodwin, Mt. Vernon, Edna Mae Phillips of Indianapolis, IN, Louise McCleese of Oakland, CA, Leola Iwaunda and Evelyn Strauthel, both of Mobile, AL; one great niece, Freda (Marlen) Jackson, Fairhope, AL; nephews, Joseph (Catherine) Miller, Inkston, MI, Melvin, Otto Cox, both of Oakland, CA, James Cox of Texas; two godchildren, Ella B. Bullen and Joseph Montgomery of Mobile, AL; other relatives and devoted friends. Mrs. Hazel Smith Sutton:
Funeral services were held from the Graveside on Saturday, December 11, 1999 at 3pm. Officiating was Elder J. Richard Miller assisted by Richard Barber. Pallbearers were, Dale Sutton, Chris Greene, Travis Greene, Dustin Sprinkle, Randy Sprinkle and Ryan Hess. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery. Mrs. Edna Bona Waddell:
Age 80. Born in Richmond, Mass. on October 1, 1919, the daughter of Lazzaro and Rosa Bona, died on Wednesday, December 8, 1999 at a local hospital. Mrs. Waddell was a 1941 graduate of the former Williams High School in Stockbridge, Mass. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1944. Upon her graduation she worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Pittsfield, Mass. She entered the U.S. Army Nurse Corp in 1945, serving in the Pacific Theater in Manila Philippines Islands. She was honorably discharged in October of 1946 as a First Lieutenant. Mrs. Waddell married her husband, John Richard, in 1947 and moved to Mobile where she served at the Mobile Infirmary from 1947-1950. Also in 1950 she was employed at Brookley Air Force Base as a Administrative Nurse. Mr. Waddell and Mrs. Waddell owned Rocat Sand and Gravel Company in Mobile. She was preceded in death by her husband in May 1998, Mr. John Richard Waddell; sister, Mary Dunne and two brothers, Lawrence Bona and Thomas Bona, all of Massachusetts. She is survived by her sisters, Alma Allen and Betty Naventi, both of Massachusetts; brother, Arthur P. Bona (Lt. Col Retired) of Alexandria, VA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 13, 1999 at 12 noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
