Mrs. Mable Truly Parker:
Age 91, a native of George County, MS and resident of Mobile died at a local hospital, Thursday, December 16, 1999. She was a member of Government Street Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Maye Burgess of Pensacola, FL, and Peggy Sue (Carlton) Jackson of Tallahassee, FL; one son, James F. (Evelyn) Parker, Jr. of Mobile; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Beulah Thurman of Mobile; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 18 at 12 noon in Pine Crest Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Mrs. Estella (Aunt Short) Payton:
Born August 17, 1904. A native of Wilcox County and resident of Mobile went from labor to reward on Sunday, December 12, 1999. She was preceded in death by a loving husband, Richmond Payton and daughter, Ruth Etta Ely. She was a lifelong member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church and Singer with Queens of Harmony. She retired from WKRG TV in 1980 where she co-hosted Woman's World with Connie B. Hope. She is survived by a devoted son-in-law, Henry (Dorothy) Ely, Sr., Dayton, OH; five devoted grandchildren, Henrietta Robinson, Mobile, AL, Henry Ely, Jr., Carolyn Harding, Dayton, OH, Rev. Dr. Shy Qyon (Jean) Ely, Indianapolis, Ind. and Pastor Melvin (Vera) Ely, Pine Bluff, Ark; a devoted son, Arthur Pollard; devoted sister-in-law, Dannie Mae Jackson; a host of brothers-in-law, great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in state at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, Friday, December 17, 1999 from 12 noon until 5 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 1999 at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at which time Rev. Howard Johnson, Sr., Pastor will conduct the funeral service. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at the family residence. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Robinson; one s on, James Harold Robinson, Jr.; one daughter, Michele Campbell (Bubba); one granddaughter, Brianna Kaye Strickland; mother, Mrs. Myrtle Lee Robinson; one brother, Jerry Robinson (Joann). Mr. Bryant Westerfield Sheehy:
Age 86. A native of Leaksville, MS and a longtime resident of Mobile died at his home on Tuesday, December 14, 1999. Mr. Sheehy was in the banking industry for 44 years and retired from American National Bank where he served as Vice President. He was a member of The Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Wildlife Association, and also a member of Civitan. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Jackson Sheehy of Mobile; his children, Dr. Bryant Neal (Joann) Sheehy of Sacramento, CA and Mary Sheehy (Gary) King of Daphne, AL; four grandchildren, Bryant Sheehy, Braxton Sheehy, Tarresa King and Courtney Pogson; three great grandchildren, Brandon Sheehy, Mary King and Skylar King, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the graveside on Friday, December 17, 1999 at 2 p.m. with interment in Pine Cemetery. Mr. A. J. Sloan:
A native of Alberta AL, born November 3, 1933 and a resident of Mobile, AL departed this life on Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at a local hospital. He confessed Christ and joined the Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile under the leadership of Reverend James Washington. He was retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Nora Sloan. Leaving to Cherish his memories a devoted son, Mr. Andrew (Kelley) Sloan of Chicago, IL; a loving daughter, Belinda (Gregory) Betts of Mobile, AL; one loving and devoted granddaughter, Janora Keanna Betts of Mobile; two aunts, Mary Pettway of Jackson, TN, and Martha Pettway of Alberta, AL; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, friends and neighbors. Visitation will be held from the Chapel of Reese Funeral Home on Saturday, December 18, 1999 from 9:00am until the 11:00am funeral hour with Pastor Brenda Westry Officiating.
