Age 97. A lifelong resident of Mobile died at a local hospital on Wednesday, December 22, 1999. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and was retired from Brookley Air Force Base. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Stanley T. Smith, Jr., Opal Richardson, Marie Howell, Ruth Bates, Marjorie Bolton, Aubry Furr all of Mobile, Katherine Cancienne of Louisiana, Barbara Fortner of Enterprise, AL and Betty Love of Sheffield, AL; other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends. Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home on Sunday, December 26, 1999 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Family and friends will meet at Palestine Cemetery on Monday, December 27, 1999 at 10 a.m. for graveside services and interment. Mr. Ray Counselman:
A native of West Bend, AL. and resident of Saraland, died on Thursday, December 23, 1999 in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kirkwood Counselman of Saraland; one daughter, Kay Counselman of Saraland; one sister, Sybil McDonald of Mobile; two brothers, Wallace Dovard Counselman of West Monroe, LA and Sidney L. Counselman of Huntsville, AL; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held from the Funeral Home on Monday, December 27, 1999 from 12-2PM followed by funeral services in the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. A native of Lagrange, Georgia and resident of Mobile, AL died on Sunday, December 19, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith Counts of Mobile, AL. 1 daughter; Margaret Counts (Bill) Runnels of Mobile, AL. 2 sisters; Sybil (Raymond) Cook, Jan Dill. 3 brothers; Reginald "Red" Counts, J.W. Counts, Howard Hammett Counts. 2 grandchildren; Billy Runnels, Chris Runnels, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Verna Lee Havens DeLoach:
Age 73, a native of Ft. Worth, Texas and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL died in a local hospital on Friday, December 24, 1999. Mrs. DeLoach was retired from the former Merchants National Bank of Mobile with 38 years of service, as Head Teller of the Downtown Motor Branch and later as Vault Custodian at Springhill Branch. A member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, Daughters of the Nile Abba Temple Shrine, the Pagentry Unit and the Abbettes. She is survived by her husband, Mr. P.W. (Bill) DeLoach of Mobile, AL; three sons, Bill (Laura) Havens of Mobile, Frank (Theresa) Aucoin of Charleston, S.C. and Gerald (Karen) DeLoach of Summerville, S.C.; one daughter, Sharon Keelin of Statesboro, GA; grandchildren, Brittany Lee Havens of Mobile and other grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Cannon of Mobile, AL. The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Transportation Fund of Abba Temple Shrine for Children C/o 7701 Hitt Road, Mobile, AL. Born May 8, 1904 in Selma, AL departed this life on December 21, 1999. She leaves to cherish her memories, one adopted son, Jimmie Jackson of Selma, AL; one adopted daughter, Clara Samples of Chicago, IL; two granddaughters, Leola Alexander and Dorothy Dudley of Mobile, AL; one grandson, Willie Hatcher, Jr. of Mobile, AL; 24 great grands; a very devoted friend, Mrs. Sallie Lewis and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, December 27, 1999 from Amity Baptist Church from 9:00 AM to the 1:00 PM funeral hour with Rev. Horace Young officiating. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Mr. Robert J. "Bob" Jones:
A native of Columbus, GA and a longtime resident of Chickasaw, AL died on Thursday, December 23, 1999 at a local hospital. He was a man who loved the Lord, a deacon and head usher at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, he retired from International Paper Company after 49 years of service and on the board of directors for the Home of Grace. He was survived by his wife, Myrtice L. Jones of Chickasaw; two daughters, Brenda (Mike) Lloyd of Saraland, AL, Susan (Clifton) Chatham of Daphne, AL; two sisters, two brothers; three grandchildren, Melody Lloyd (Kevin) Malpas of Spanish Ft., AL, Michael Lloyd of Saraland, AL, Cortney Chatham of Daphne, AL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
