Brother James Bell:
A native of Uniontown, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL for over forty years, departed this life Dec. 22, 1999. He was born to the union of Pinkie Tolbert and George Bell of Uniontown, AL. A former employee of Alabama State Docks, the University of South Alabama College and Hospital, Rousso's Restaurant, Inc. where he retired after over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pinkie Tolbert and one sister, Pearlee Fields. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Marjorie S. (Reginald) Watkins all of Mobile; three sons, Timothy (Karen) Bell of Mobile, AL, Eric (Michelle) Bell of Decatur, GA, Michael (Catherine) Bell of Norfolk, VA; his father, George Bell of Uniontown, AL; Fourteen grandchildren. Two sisters, Sarah Johnson of Uniontown, AL and Shirley Johnson of Mobile. Six brothers, Willie (Mamie) Tolbert, Jesse Tolbert, Henry (Carolyn) Smith, Clarence (Queen) Smith all of Mobile, Charles Smith of Greensboro, AL, Johnny Bell of Birmingham, AL. A host of nephews, one devoted, Michael Presley; Aunts, Uncles, many cousins, other relatives and friends, two devoted, Maxine Spears and Aubry Nobles both of Mobile. A very good friend and neighbor, Marie Stepp and family. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society. Wake services will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 from Little Welcome Baptist Church, 1108 Chinquapin Street with Pastor J.C. Garror officiating. Mr. Morgan Layaffette Bishop:
A native of Barnwell, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL for many years died in a local hospice on Thursday, December 23, 1999. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 1999 from the Chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until service time. A native of Lagrange, Georgia and resident of Mobile, AL died on Sunday, December 19, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith Counts of Mobile, AL. 1 daughter; Margaret Counts (Bill) Runnels of Mobile, AL. 2 sisters; Sybil (Raymond) Cook, Jan Dill. 3 brothers; Reginald "Red" Counts, J.W. Mrs. Audrey Mae Frantz:
Age 94. A native of Lincoln County, MS and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL died on Saturday, December 25, 1999 at a local hospital. She was a charter member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the American Auxiliary #76, President for many years, and retired from Brookley Air Force Base. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Frantz. She is survived by her daughters; Helen C. Philbrick of Mobile, AL, Genelle (Earl) Pierce of Mobile, AL. 26 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gibson; half-sister, Marilyn Ann Moses, all of Mobile; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and other relatives. Mr. Peter John Gulas:
A native of Birmingham, AL and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL died at the family residence on Saturday, December 25, 1999. Mr. Gulas started in the Restaurant business 64 years ago with co-owner Andrew Papageorge when they opened the Joe Jefferson House at Conception and St. Michael Streets. He was also the co-owner with his brothers, Gus, Nick and Chris, of Gulas Searanch Restaurant and the Gold Key Club, both located on the Causeway, a Veteran of World War II and a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Mr. Gulas is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Manikas Gulas, of Mobile, AL; one son, Gregory J. Gulas, of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Georgia Sarris and Elizabeth Constantine, both of Birmingham, AL; one granddaughter, Jamie M. Denkers, of Birmingham, AL; nieces and nephews from Mobile, Birmingham and Chattanooga. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, on Tuesday, December 28, 1999 at 12 Noon.
