Mr. John Dave Chapman, Jr. (J.D.):
Born August 31, 1944, traded life for eternity, Monday, December 27, 1999 at a local hospital. "J.D." was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where he previously served as Director of the Youth Choir. He was a 1962 graduate of Mobile County Training School and received his B.S. Degree from Alabama State University where he was a proud member of the Marching Hornets Band. Upon graduation, he served as Band Director and teacher at Booker T. Washington High School, Brewton, AL, Pascagoula High School, Pascagoula, MS and Mobile County Training School until his retirement. He served as City Councilman for the City of Prichard and was a chartered Bus Driver for McIntosh Bus Company. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted family, wife, Evelyn Hill Chapman of Whistler, AL; two daughters, Shawn (Kevin) McDaniels and Kalyn Chapman; one grandson, Kevin O. McDaniels, II, all of Birmingham, AL; mother, Ruth Bernice Moody Chapman of Whistler, AL; one great-aunt, Bernice Smith of St. Louis, MO; one uncle, Edison Chapman; two first cousins, one devoted, Mary Watson of Mobile and Janice Farmer of CA; two sisters-in-law, Gracie (Charles) Carter and Carolyn Hill; two brothers-in-law, Eddie (Gwendolyn) Hill, Jr. and Alphonse (Deloris) Hill of Mobile; a host of cousins, the Collins, Woods, Simpsons, Gibbs, Randalls, Spraggins, Holloways and Brown families; one devoted cousin, Sandra Thames of Mobile; one god-son, Darryl (Lila) Blair of Milwaukee, WI and a host of other relatives and friends; The Chatmans, the Blairs; two devoted, Jarvis Chatman and Bernice Blair. Visitation will be at the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, December 31, 1999 from 9:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. funeral hour. Rev. J.J. Phillips, Pastor and officiating Minister. Mrs. Hattie Snowden Starr Cochran:
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 at 10AM from the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Officiating was Rev. J. Henry Porter, assisted by Dr. Larry Steiner. Pallbearers were Greg Cooper, Jonathan Barlow, Albert McManus, Sonny Blake, George Jones, Ben Martin, Simeon Cochran, and Mike Edwards. Interment followed at Union Cemetery, Brewton, AL. Terrance Leon Cooley (Terry):
Was a lifelong resident of Whistler, Alabama. He departed his earthly home for eternity on December 25, 1999. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Antoinette Cooley Davis. Left to cherish his memories are two daughters, Terrilyn Elise Cooley and Erica Martise Cooley and two grandchildren, all of Boston, Massachusetts; devoted parents, Wilmer and Marie Cooley; three brothers, Rev. Charles (Dorothy) Cooley, Wilbert (Kandee) Cooley and Dewayne D. Cooley; two sisters, Veronica (Robert) Sanders, all of AL, and Kim J. Cooley of Wichita, Kansas; three uncles, Ollie (Marilyn) Cooley of Atlanta, Georgia, Joe Nathan Cooley of Prichard and Jessie (Beatrice) Davis of Mobile; two aunts, Clinistine Davis of Prichard and Cleavon Davis of Mobile; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 o'clock on Friday, December 31, 1999 at Third Missionary Baptist Church of Whistler, where Rev. N.L. Powe is the Pastor. Mrs. Gurline Jones DuBose:
A native of Flatwood, Alabama and a resident of Mobile, presently residing in Garland, Texas, departed this life Monday, December 27, 1999 in Garland, Texas. She was a member of St. Paul AME Church where she served as a stewardess until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leedale and Pinkie Johnson; brothers Richard, Curtis, and Lee T. Jones. She is survived by her husband, Leslie DuBose; daughter Carrie L. (Willie) Horton of Ann Arbor, Michigan; sons John L. (Wanda) DuBose Sr. of Garland, Texas, Jimmie L. (Lila) DuBose and Gerry C. DuBose, both of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; brothers Lindell Jones of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Leo Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, William Jones of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sam Jones of Brooklyn, New York; sisters Donnie Jones Hamler of Gary, Indiana; Bessie Jones Nettles of Birmingham, Alabama; Deola Jones Canada of Atlanta, Georgia; Dorothy and Martha Ann Jones of Brooklyn, New York; seven grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 31, 1999 at the St. Paul AME Church from 10:00 a.m. until the 12 noon funeral hour. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Irma Goins Glass:
A native of Tuscaloosa, AL, and a resident of Satsuma, died in a local health care facility, Tuesday, December 28, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Nell McAdams of Satsuma, and Margaret Constantine of Spanish Fort; two sisters, Mary Etta Rice of Chickasaw, and Ruby Nell Everett of North Port, AL; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be Thursday, December 30, 1999 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland.
