Mr. Frank Jackson, Jr.:
A native of Gainestown, Alabama and a lifelong resident of Prichard, Alabama, departed this life on Sunday, December 26, 1999. He was born on July 22, 1939 to Mary and Frank Jackson, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Attorney Thomas J. Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Lelia Viola Jackson; five daughters, Tynia Hollins, Cassandra (Michael) Jackson, Verdell, Tchelinda and Sheretta Jackson, all of Prichard; three sons, Douglas Buckley of Oakland, California, Frank Jackson, III of Prichard, and Surry Jackson of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by nine sisters, one devoted, Dorothy (Willie) Roberts of Prichard, Jacqueline (Leon) Kendrick, Alfreda (Francis) Caffie, Bessie French, Bernestine (Willie) Dock and Angela (Norman) Law, all of Mobile, Jerdean (Charles) Thomas, and Mary Edmond of Hudson, New York; three brothers, Linnie (Mary) Edmond, Lindsey Edmond of Birmingham, Alabama, and Dwayne (Evadne) Edmond; 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 31, 1999 at the New Beginnings Church, 3825 Lott Road, Eight Mile, Alabama at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Butler, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour. REESE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Gladys B. Norton:
A native of Pike County, AL, and resident of Mobile, died on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Norton. She is survived by three children, John W. (Lorene) Norton, Cullman, AL, Jerry B. (Carolyn) Norton, Mobile, Gary (Louise) Norton, Eufaula, AL; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, December 30, 1999 from 5-8 PM. Graveside services and interment are scheduled for Friday, December 31, 1999 at 1PM in Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Phenix City, AL. John T. Powell:
A native of Mobile, AL, was born November 29, 1941 to the late Annie Kelly and John Powell, Sr. He departed this life on December 25, 1999. He leaves to cherish his memories, two sisters, Mrs. Curtis Peavy and Mrs. Virgie Taldon, both of Mobile, AL; two brothers, Louis Powell of Mobile, AL and Rev. James (Margie) Kelly of Panama City, FL; stepfather, Mr. Charlie Kelly of Mobile, AL and one uncle, Mr. Edmund (Ina Ray) Munlyn of Mobile, AL. A native of Allen, AL, born October 22, 1906 to the late Willie Williams and Mary Leggett, departed this life December 25, 1999. She leaves to cherish her memories 10 grandchildren, 19 great grands, 7 great great grands; one daughter-in-law, Delia Cleveland; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Dean Matthews. Pallbearers were James Canterbury, Joe Sellers, Chris Cherry, Wyatt Parish, Rick Deas and Rusty Gaines.
