Bessie Mae Culpepper-Taylor
SEMMES - Bessie Mae Culpepper-Taylor, a retired restaurant owner/operator, died Saturday at a local hospice. She was 76.
Mrs. Culpepper-Taylor, who reided in Semmes, was a native of Meridian, Miss. She attended Valhaven Baptist Church in Semmes.
She is survived by her husband, Gene S. Taylor of Semmes; a son, Wayne Culpepper of Chunchula; a daughter, Cathy Davis of Eight Mile; two sisters, Fredna Earle Turner of Deer Park and Betty Etheridge of Leakesville, Miss.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle. Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Shiloh Cemetery in Deer Park.

Modine R. Helton
Modine Reeves Helton, a former licensed practical nurse and one of the first women to serve as a traffic crossing guard in Mobile, died Saturday. She was 88.
Mrs. Helton, who resided in Mobile, was a native of Lamison, Ala.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Ann Reeves Townson and Paulette Reeves Freeman, both of Spanish Fort; a sister, Gladys Sawyer of Mobile; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Anne D. McGeoch
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Anne D. McGeoch, a former Mobilian who resided in Clearwater, Fla., died Jan. 7.
Mrs. McGeoch was a native of Revere, Mass.
She is survived by her husband, William A. Murphy of Clearwater; a son, Bradley A. McGeoch of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Leslee M. Barron of Fairhope; and four grandchildren.
A memorial Mass is set for noon Saturday at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Clearwater. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ethelyn Barrow Hays Endowment Fund; P.O. Box 1631; Fairhope, AL 36533.

Bertha L. Beggs
Bertha Lee Beggs, a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church, died Monday at the age of 96.
Mrs. Beggs was a native and resident of Mobile.
Survivors include two daughters, Velma Grace Bateman and Shirley Marie Hayes; one son, Charles Travis Beggs; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Serenity Memorial Funeral Home.

Gurthey R. Dean
CHUNCHULA - Gurthey Ray Dean, a native of Tupelo, Miss., and resident of Chunchula, died Sunday after a battle with cancer.
Survivors include two daughters, Grace Norvell McGhee of Atmore, Ala., and Lanell D. Blaine of Chunchula; one brother, Wiley D. Ray of Athens, Ala.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for noon today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, with burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Selma.

Veronica Y. Lee
Veronica Yvette Lee, a native and resident of Whistler, died Sunday at home after a brief illness. She was 31.
Survivors include her parents, Jerome and Fannie Lee of Whistler; four sisters, Patricia L. Branch of Tampa, Fla., Cynthia D. Lee of Birmingham, Norma Maxwell of Mobile and E. Nell Hitchye of Mildenhall, England.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Third Baptist Church, 811 S. Atmore Avenue in Whistler, followed at services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William E. Parker
SEMMES - William Edgar Parker, a native of McKenzie and a resident of Semmes, died Monday.
A retired Scott Paper Co. worker, Parker was 80.
He is survived by his wife, Katie Bush Parker of Semmes; two sons, Edgar Franklin Parker of Gravette, Ark., and Dana R. Parker of Van Cleave, Miss.; two daughters, Joyce P. LaSarge of Rogers, Ark., and Diann Regina Butler of Petal, Miss.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. Viewing will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in McKenzie, with services to follow. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill-Saints Cemetery in McKenzie.
Memorials may be made to the Alabama Eye Bank.
