Margaret James
Margaret James, a homemaker who was a lifelong Mobilian, died Sunday at her home. She was 35.
Survivors include one son, Rickey A. McCaskill; her mother, Clara J. McCaskill; her father, Roy L. Bettis Sr.; two sisters, Lolita D. Gay and Debra Bettis; and three brothers, Mavrick Gay McCaskill, Roy Lee Bettis Jr. and Henry Bettis.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Church of God Pentecostal, 1383 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery, with Reese Funeral Home in charge.

Aaron Kirksey Jr.
Aaron Kirksey Jr., a retired staff serge vvvvvvvant with the U.S. Army, died Saturday at his home. He was 54.
A native of McDowell, Ala., Kirksey was a resident of Prichard.
He retired after 20 years of service from Fort Rucker in Alabama, where he worked as a fleet mechanic. He was also a Vietnam veteran.
After retiring from the Army, Kirksey worked at Warren House in Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Kirksey of Prichard; two daughters, Ammie Howard of Prichard and Mary Ann Morgan of Mobile; five sons, James Kirksey, Aaron Kirksey III, Michael Kirksey, Marvin Kirksey and Cedric Kirksey, all of Prichard; his mother, Mary Rocker of Mobile; five sisters, Carolyn Hicks of Detroit, Patricia Roberson and Maranda Turner, both of Mobile, Joyce Evans and Carrie Kirksey, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three brothers, Andy Evans, Oscar Evans and Patrick Evans, all of Fort Lauderdale; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Antioch Christian Church, 726 Elba Avenue in Whistler, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
Reese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carrie R. Stevenson
Carrie Randle Stevenson, a retired cook from Oakdale Restaurant, died Monday at her home at the age of 97.
Mrs. Stevenson, a native of Columbus, Miss., was a resident of Mobile, where she was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary S. Lewis of Mobile; one brother, Robert Thompson of Trenton, N.J.; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one foster grandson.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing is also set after 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Baptist Church, 751 Texas St., with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Casher Cemetery.

Maggie L. Knight
CAMDEN - Maggie L. Knight, a member of Tates Chapel AME Church, died Thursday in Camden. She was 89.
Mrs. Knight was a resident of Wilcox County.
She served as Sunday school superintendent, church financial secretary and church mother. She was also a member of the Missionary Society and stewardess board.
Survivors include her son, Alfred Knight Sr. of Norwalk, Conn.; three brothers, Minister Marshall of Detroit, and Willie D. Marshall and K.C. Marshall, both of Pensacola; two sisters, Willie Mae Williams of Louisville, Ky., and Clementine White of Montgomery; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Tates Chapel AME Church in Coy, Ala., where services are set for 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Rich Cemetery.

Nora Mae Banks
SACRAMENTO - Nora Mae Banks, a resident of Sacramento who had lived in Lucedale, Miss., for 58 years, died Thursday in California. She was 86.
Mrs. Banks was a native of Shipman, Miss.
Survivors include a nephew whom she reared as a son, Oscar Thompson; two sisters, Rose Dell Dorsett Miles and Estella Joseph; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Lilly Grove Baptist Church in Lucedale, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Bexley Cemetery in Bexley, Miss., with Hodge's Funeral Chapel of Mobile directing.

Celima J. Ferniany
ATLANTA - Celima Joseph Ferniany, a former resident of Mobile, died Monday. She was 80.
She had been a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Mobile.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth F. Peaden of Pensacola, Theodora F. Spruell of Atlanta, and Patricia F. Mitchell of Birmingham; one son, Michael G. Ferniany of Atlanta; two sisters, Isabel Adams of New Orleans and Josephine John of Lafayette, La.; one brother, Fred Joseph of Lockport, La.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.

Joseph M. Moore Jr.
Joseph Martin Moore Jr., a sophomore at Murphy High School, died Tuesday in Mobile. He was 17.
Moore, who would have celebrated his 18th birthday on Valentine's Day, was a native and lifelong Mobile resident.
Survivors include his father Joseph Martin Moore Sr. of Mobile; his mother, Patricia Ann George Moore of New Orleans; one sister, Shaye Barice Moore of Mobile; and his grandmother, Barbara Pettaway of Mobile.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2034 St. Stephens Road, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
