Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Curtis L. Shewmake

Curtis Levon Shewmake, who had worked as a hardware clerk, died Thursday at his home. He was 70.

A native of Coffeeville, Ala., Shewmake was a resident of Mobile for 50 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Nelma Grace Shewmake of Mobile; four sons, Ronald Levon Shewmake and Dennis Keith Shewmake, both of Mobile, Thomas Rodney Shewmake of Creola and Timothy Curtis Shewmake of Semmes; two brothers, Hollis Shewmake of Satsuma and James Shewmake of Axis, Ala.; four sisters, Cora Dunagan of Satsuma, Rena Bennett of Salitpa, Ala., Lucille DeMent of Thomasville, Ala., and Peggy Bazor of Grand Bay; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Justice L. Stevens

Justice LaTrice Stevens died Friday at the age of 2 months.

Survivors include her parents, Tamara Crimes of Mobile and Larry Stevens of Pascagoula, Miss.; two sisters, Ashley Smith of Pascagoula, and Jasmine Crimes of Mobile; her grandparents, Jensie and Flozell Crimes Jr. of Mobile, Mary Ella Perryman and LaRita Davis, both of Mississippi; and her great-grandparents, Helen Chapman, and Bernice and Flozell Crimes Sr.

Visitation will be at Central Baptist Church, 840 Reynolds Ave., today from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery with Memorial Funeral Home of Prichard directing.

Mary L. Blackledge

Mary Lois Blackledge, who had worked as a nurse's aide, died of congestive heart failure Thursday at a local hospice.

Mrs. Blackledge, 76, was a resident of Mobile.

Survivors include one daughter, Cecile Mansfield of Mobile; one sister Joann Tew of Grand Bay; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Richton, Miss., with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. today in County Line Cemetery in Ovett, Miss.

Vernice H. Boren

Vernice Hopper Boren, a native of Porterville, Miss., and resident of Mobile, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 85.

Mrs. Boren was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church in Porterville.

Survivors include two children, James L. Boren Sr. of Spanish Fort and Linda Bell of Mobile; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bay Springs Baptist Church in Porterville, with burial in Bay Springs Cemetery.

Macie C. Parks

Macie Callahan Parks, a member of Zion Baptist Church, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 88.

A native of Madden, Miss., Mrs. Parks was a resident of Mobile since 1954.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Roberts of Gulf Shores; one son, Irvin Callahan of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, W.H. Murray Sanders of San Antonio, Texas, and L.C. Sanders of Carthage, Miss.; one sister, Obera Horn of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, where services are set for 9 a.m. Monday. Graveside services will take place at 3 p.m. Monday in Carolina Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Philadelphia, Miss.

Mabel Worthy

Mabel Lillian Brumfield Worthy, a homemaker and member of Grace Temple Holiness Church, died Thursday at a local hospital.

Mrs. Worthy, 66, was a native of Kenner, La., and a resident of Mobile.

Survivors include her husband, George Worthy; four daughters, Cheryl Riley, Donna Singleton, Jannell Spears and Kathy Pointer; one son, LaMorris Worthy; one sister, Ida Thomas; one brother, Joseph Brumfield; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements will be announced by Johnson-Allen Mortuary.

Howard H. Josey

EVERGREEN - Howard Hillary Josey, who had worked as a truck driver, died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 66.

A native of Excel, Ala., Josey was a resident of Evergreen for the past several years.

Survivors include his daughter, Hydie Josey of Louisiana; and two brothers, John Josey of Frisco City, and Alvin Josey of Pensacola.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Zion Cemetery in Excel. Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville is in charge of arrangements.
