Evelyn D. Hanson
Evelyn Drummond Hanson, a retired secretary with the shipping and receiving department of International Paper Co., died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Hanson, 86, was a native and resident of Mobile.
She is survived by her brother, Madison M. Drummond.
Burial took place in Pine Crest Cemetery, with Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in charge of arrangements.

David A. LaFon
David Allen LaFon, a lifelong resident of Mobile, died Tuesday after being struck by a car. The Theodore High School graduate and Eagle Scout was 27.
He is survived by his father, Samel C. LaFon Jr.; three brothers, Roy and Michael LaFon of Mobile, and Danny LaFon of Stockton; and three sisters, Doric Martin of Theodore, Marilyn Simison of Grand Bay and Sandy Stringer of Mobile.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Serenity Funeral Home, with services to follow at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Annie R. Lawless
Annie Ruth Lawless, a member of Riverside Baptist Church, died Wednesday at a local nursing facility. She was 89.
Mrs. Lawless was a native of Louisville, Miss., and a resident of Mobile since 1939.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Norma Jean Glaze of Phoenix, Norman E. Duckworth of Richton, Miss., and Cindy Young of Quitman, Miss.; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway Friday from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. services. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Ronald P. Slepian
Ronald Philip Slepian, a native of Kansas City, Mo., and resident of Mobile, died Tuesday at the age of 66.
Survivors include his wife, Dianna Whittenberg Slepian; one son, David Philip Slepian; one sister, Geraldine Slepian Koffler; and one granddaughter.
Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Sunday in Spring Hill Avenue Temple Cemetery, with Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Spring Hill Avenue Temple or a favorite charity.

Jesse Summers
Jr. Jesse Summers Jr., a retiree of Marine Bulk Handling Co., died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 78.
Summers, a native of State Line, Miss., lived in Prichard and was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Prichard.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ella Ledora Summers of Prichard; nine children, Orlando Summers, Jacqueline Parker and Jocelyn Bell-West, all of Eight Mile, Janice Williams of Tampa, Fla., Linda Summers, Elwin Summers, Brenda Daniels, Travis Summers and Stephanie Jackson, all of Prichard; two sisters, Cora Reynolds and Ella Hill, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two brothers, William Summers of Pittburgh and the Rev. J.C. Summers of Selma; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements will be announced by Reese Funeral Home of Prichard.

Johnnie B. McLester
DURHAM, N.C. - Johnnie Blunt McLester, a native Mobilian, died Sunday.
Mrs. McLester was a retired teacher with the Durham school system. An active church member, she served on the board of the National Baptist Convention.
Among her survivors is her sister, Virginia L. Blount of Mobile.
Services are scheduled today at Morehead Avenue Baptist Church in Durham with Scarborough & Hargett Funeral Home.

Jeanne Monk
SAN DIEGO - Jeanne Carolyn Richmond Monk, a former resident of Mobile, died Feb. 6 at the age of 55.
Mrs. Monk attended Old Shell Elementary School and Phillips Junior High School, graduating from Murphy High School in 1962.
She majored in chemistry at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
While living in Mobile, she was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Monk formerly lived in Texas for many years, where she had worked as a full charge bookkeeper in the Houston area.
Survivors include three sons, Dean Monk of San Diego, James Earls Barrick Monk, U.S. Navy, Guam, and Keith Monk of Jackson, Miss.; one brother, Milton Eugene Richmond Jr. of Steele, Ala.; and two sisters, Beverly Richmond Dennis of Mobile and Mary Jane Richmond Moss of Sugarland, Texas.
A memorial service will take place Saturday in San Diego.
