Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Catherine B. Stallworth

Catherine B. Stallworth, popularly known as "Mama Cat, " died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 92.

Mrs. Stallworth was a member of the St. Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church women's auxiliary. A Mobile resident, she was a native of Buena Vista.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Bell of Mobile; her son, John Louis Riley of New Orleans; and 16 grandchildren.

Viewing will be Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services begin. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Cemetery.

Christian Benevolent Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Virgie G. Taylor

Virgie G. Taylor, a native of Gulfcrest and longtime resident of Eight Mile, died Monday at a local health care facility. She was 92.

Survivors include two daughters, Marietta J. Taylor and Eleanor T. Robbins; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today at Kushla Baptist Church from 2 p.m. until services begin at 3 p.m., with burial at Gulfcrest Cemetery.

Radney Funeral Home in Saraland is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur E. Geil

AUSTIN, Texas - Arthur Edward "Art" Geil, a former Mobile resident and a McGill Institute Sports Hall of Fame inductee, died Tuesday while playing golf. He was 69.

A native of St. Louis, Geil resided in Austin, where he had retired from the IBM Sales Division. In 1983, he became vice president of TaylorBanc Savings, where he directed branch operations and coordinated the openings of many offices.

Geil graduated from McGill and from Loyola University, where he played basketball. He was inducted into the McGill Hall of Fame in 1983.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Korea from 1951 to 1953, attaining the rank of 2nd lieutenant.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Anna Geil of Austin; five children, Chip Geil, Phil Geil, Steve Geil, Barbara Fernandez and Kevin Geil; his father, Philip Geil of Mobile; two brothers, Roger Geil of Mobile and Phil Geil of Boulder, Colo.; a sister, Mary Lou Walsh of Mobile; and seven grandchildren.

A Christian wake is planned tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar in Austin. A funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Austin, with burial at Assumption Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Austin.

Craig M. Barber

A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church for Craig Martin Barber, who died Feb. 19. He was 40.

Visitation in the church's Fellowship Hall will follow services.

Barber, a native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., resided in Mobile.

Survivors include his parents, Mildred M. and Alva H. Barber of Mobile; a brother, Jeffrey G. Barber of Charlotte, N.C.; and a sister, Christine Olsen of Brockport, N.Y.

Memorials may be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church, 10 Westminster Way, Mobile, AL 36608.

Steven T. Gartman

Steven Tyler Gartman died Tuesday in a local hospital. The infant was 5 days old.

Survivors include his parents, Charlene and Jody Gartman of Wilmer; four siblings, Dustin Gartman, Blake Gartman, Ashley Gartman and Larry Gartman, all of Wilmer; and his grandparents, Billie Jean and James Hall, Nancy and Joe Prudhome, and Larry Gartman.

Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Friday in Valhalla Memorial Gardens in Semmes, with visitation at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home beginning at noon.

Mary Lee Glover

Mary Lee "Dee Dee" Glover, a member of Bethel AME Church, died Monday. She was 78.

Mrs. Glover, who resided in Mobile, was a native of Thomaston, Ala. At church, she served as a member of the usher board and a helper of the Golden Seniors.

Survivors include her daughter, Fannie McCampbell of Mobile; two brothers, Freddie Jackson and Wilbur Jackson of Mobile; and a grandchild.

Viewing will be Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. A second viewing will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services begin. Burial will be at Pine Crest Cemetery.

Darryl M. Jones

Darryl Maurice Jones, a native of Mobile, died March 3. He was 39.

Survivors include his wife, Victoria Smith Jones; a son, Davonte Marsel Jones; his parents, Delores B. and Shelby Jones Jr.; two brothers, Vincent Jones and Ivan Jones; three sisters, Cheryl Jones, Felicia Jackson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Robin Pledger; and his grandmothers, Alice Jones and Thelma Betts.

Visitation will be at Phillips Temple AOH Church of God, 2257 St. Stephens Road, on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services begin. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Reese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
