William H. Peck
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - William H. Peck, a Mobile native, died March 4 at his home in Fort Lauderdale at the age of 74.
He was the grandson of W.H. Peck, who had owned and operated the Battle House in downtown Mobile prior to and during World War I.
Peck was an architect in Fort Lauderdale for more than 40 years. He served as a board member of the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of the American Red Cross and the American Institute of Architects.
A Rotarian, Peck was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale.
He graduated from the University Military School in Mobile, then served in World War II with the 20th Air Force. He attended Auburn University and received his degree in architecture in 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Shackleford Peck of Fort Lauderdale and formerly of Mobile; two sons, William H. Peck Jr. and Paul Peck; one daughter, Virginia Peck; and three grandchildren.
Services took place Monday at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Clifton A. Bowers Jr.
HARVEY, Ill. - Clifton A. "Shun" Bowers Jr., a Mobile native and resident of Harvey, died Monday. He was 62.
Bowers was self-employed in the barber/beauty shop business.
Survivors include his children, Pamela Mitchell, Clifton Bowers III, Kelly Gill and Eric Gill of Chicago; and one sister, Delores Langham of Mobile.
A wake is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today, with Mass at 12:30 p.m. at Ascension-St. Susanna Church, 15234 Myrtle Ave. in Harvey. Burial will be in Mount Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Ill. W.W. Holt Funeral of Harvey is in charge of arrangements.

James F. Jackson
James F. Jackson, the former owner of Jackson's Body, Fender and Painting for more than 40 years, died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 77.
Jackson, a Brewton native and Mobile resident, was a long-time member and deacon at Crawford Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II. Jackson was a mason, a past master and past worshipful master at Semmes Lodge #878 F&AM.; He was also past worthy patron in 1970-71 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Lambert Jackson of Mobile; two daughters, Linda Crosby and Barbara Fuller, both of Mobile; one sister, Clara Gandy of Brewton; one brother, Cecil E. Jackson of Montgomery; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday from the chapel of the funeral home, with burial in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Daniel E. McKay Jr.
Daniel E. McKay Jr., 78, a Ocean Springs, Miss., native and a longtime resident of Mobile, died Saturday at his home.
McKay was a retired civil service employee who subcontracted for various department stores and contractors. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he once served as an elder. He also worked with the Boy Scout troop at his church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Potter McKay of Mobile; two sons, Daniel E. McKay III of Cairo, Egypt, Charles Stephen McKay of Mobile; two daughters, Debra M. Purvis of Mobile and Ruth Donoghue Talbott of Pensacola; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney-Belmany Funeral Home, with services at noon Monday at Magnolia Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church.

Madie M. Morris
Madie M. Morris, a Butler county native and Mobile resident, died Thursday at a local health care facility.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Stillwell of Mobile; two sons, Gene Keltner of Loxley, Howard H. Morris of Saraland; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Lorenzo Pollard
Lorenzo Pollard, a lifelong Mobile resident, died Thursday. The local architect and Mobile County School teacher was 64.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lucille Clarke Pollard of Mobile; a daughter, Dena Lorencile Pollard of Montgomery; a son, Willis Major Pollard III of Mobile; two brothers, Dr. Freeman Pollard of Mobile, Willis Major Pollard II of New York; three sisters, Luella Pollard and Georgia McCants of Mobile and Gwendolyn Zeigler of New York.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday at Mr. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church with services to follow. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Arrangements are by Reese Funeral Home.

Walter O. Poser
Walter O. Poser, an Eastonville, Colo., native and Sun City West, Ariz. resident, died Friday. He was 84.
He was the former owner of Poser Printing Company in Fairhope.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Poser; a daughter, Ann P. Creamer; two sons, Walter L. Poser, Richard H. Poser; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. today at Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West. Memorials may be sent to Crown of Life Lutheran Church, 13131 Spanish Garden Dr., Sun City West, AZ 85375.
