Arvester P. Roberson Sr.
Arvesta Paul Roberson Sr., a Mount Vernon native and Bucks resident, died Thursday at a local hospital. The U.S. Navy veteran was 60.
He is survived by his wife, Emmaline L. Roberson of Bucks; six daughters, Geraldine Dunlap, Hermalene Stokes, Myrtis Hunt and Venda Carrigan all of Detroit, Lennie Pollard and Brenda Barnes of Mount Vernon; three sons, Capt. Arvesta P. Roberson Jr. of Germany, Capt. Aaron Roberson of Bosnia, Bernard Jackson of Mobile; three brothers, Herbert Daniels and Dalton Roberson of Detroit, Dan Roberson of Mt. Vernon; and one grandchild.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Chastang. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be in Roper Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Christian Benevolent Funeral Home.

Martin Baldwin Smith
Martin Baldwin Smith, a New Orleans native and Mobile resident, died Thursday at his home. He was 65.
Smith was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Foley and a former member of Christ Episcopal Church.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Baldwin Smith Sanders Smith of Montgomery and Etheldra Smith Scoggin of Covington, La.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, followed by visitation at the funeral home until 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakwood City Cemetery in Montgomery. Memorials may be made to Friends of Perdido Bay and/or The Shoulder, 4901 Battleship Parkway, Spanish Fort, AL 36527.

Betty Ann Ward
Betty Ann Brandenberg Ward, a Mobile native and resident, died Saturday. She was 45.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brandenberg of Satsuma; a son, Devin Ward of Mobile; a daughter, Tracie Herman of Mobile; a sister, Jan Jenkins of Gilbertown and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Phillip's Funeral Home in Gilbertown. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Cooper's Chapel in Silas.

Laura B. Flournoy
PENSACOLA, Fla. - Laura B. Flournoy, a 55-year resident of Tallahassee, Fla., died Thursday at her daughter's home in Pensacola. She was 92.
A native of Newnan, Ga., Mrs. Flournoy was active for many years in the Girl Scouts of America, and was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
She is survived by one son, Donald Flournoy of Orange Beach; one daughter, Alyce Jones of Pensacola; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, with graveside services at 11:45 a.m. at Pine Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Laura B. Louise B. Gragg
Louise B. Gragg, a member of Springhill Baptist Church, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Mrs. Gragg, a native of Monroe, Ga., was a longtime resident of Mobile.
She participated in various church activities, including Sunday school classes for young adults. A musician, she participated in and supported children's choir programs.
Survivors include her husband, Fred C. Gragg; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Gragg; and her sister, Ruth Farmer.
Services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mayer Funeral Home in Georgetown, S.C., with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

Dennis C. Day
PAHRUMP, Nev. - Dennis Clifton Day, a native Mobilian who resided in Pahrump for 41 years, died Friday at a local hospital.
Day, 72, was a retired government contractor. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 88th Infantry Division during World War II. He also served in the Korean War.
He attended St. Joseph High School in Mobile and graduated from McGill Institute. Day went on to graduate from Florida State Christian College.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jeanne Day of Pahrump; his mother, Ruth Green Day of Mobile;; two daughters, Stacey Day of Las Vegas and Kathleen Yardley of Hendersonville, Nev.; a sister, Jean Day Goodwin of Mobile; and one grandchild.
Arrangements will be announced by Palm Mortuary's Jones Chapel in Las Vegas.

James R. Skelton
UNION, Miss. - James R. Skelton, a former Mobile resident, died Saturday at his Union residence after a battle with cancer. He was 81.
Skelton was reared in the Union area, then resided in Union for 11 years. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine for 15 months.
In 1955, he moved to Mobile and became a national construction contractor, working out of Mobile for 34 years before retiring to Union in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Germany Skelton of Union; three daughters, Judy Eagar of Washington, Va., Marilyn Smith of Elyria, Ohio, and Wanda Skelton of Union; a son, Orlan Skelton of Charleston, S.C.; three brothers, Larry Skelton of Jackson, Miss., Charles Skelton of Gulfport and Ralph Skelton of Pascagoula; two sisters, Donna Ruth Rowzee of Decatur, Miss., and Margie Mason of Newton, Miss.; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Services took place Wednesday at Bluff Springs Church of God, with burial at New Ireland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society of America or to the American Cancer Society.
Stephens Funeral Home of Union handled arrangements.
