Irving J. Estelle
Irving J. Estelle, who retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. after 35 years, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 83.
The Franklin, La., native was a resident of Mobile since 1938 and was a member of the Boilermaker's Union.
An Army veteran of World War II, Estelle was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, the High Hill Hunting and Fishing Club, and a mystic society. He was a former member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Pope Estelle of Mobile; four children, Olga M. Estelle, John W. Pope III and Carolyn P. Atkins, all of Mobile, and David R. Pope of Prattville, Ala.; one brother, Willy Estelle of Franklin; two sisters, Daisy Desposito and Doris Estelle, both of New Orleans; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney-Belmany Funeral Home on Grelot Road, with services at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Sister Mary Donivan
Sister Mary Aloysia Donivan, R.S.M., who had taught at several area schools, died Wednesday at the Convent of Mercy at the age of 92.
Sister Donivan, a Mobile native, entered the Sisters of Mercy March 25, 1931, and professed her final vows Aug. 16, 1936.
She had taught at Convent of Mercy School, St. Joseph's School, St. Mary's School and Corpus Christi School, all in Mobile. Other schools where she had taught included Our Lady Star of the Sea School in Apalachicola, Fla.; St. Michael Convent in Pensacola; St. Anthony's School in Ensley, Ala., where she also served as principal; St. Aloysia's School in Bessemer, Ala.; and St. John's School in Warrington, Fla.
She retired to the Convent of Mercy in Mobile Aug. 12, 1979.
Survivors include two sisters, Sister Mary Matilda Donivan, R.S.M., and Mary Frances Donivan.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the Convent of Mercy with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday in the convent chapel with burial in Catholic Cemetery. Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is in charge of arrangements.

Norma Gardner
Norma Lucile Gardner, a retired teacher who lived in Atmore, died Thursday. She was 84.
She is survived by one brother, Harry Gardner of Dothan; three nieces; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

John W. Walker
John W. Walker, a native of Beacon, N.Y., and resident of Mobile, died Wednesday. He was 62.
Walker, a veteran of the Korean War, was a member of American Legion Post 1302. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Lucille Walker of Mobile; children, Claude F. Jones of Paramount, Calif., Michael Anthony Jones of Tampa, Fla., Myrtle Elizabeth Augustine of Highland, N.Y., Sharon Barker of Statsburg, N.Y., and Sarah Dorothea Gaudreau of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; two brothers, George Walker and Charles Jones; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with services at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Esther Parks
Esther Parks, who had been an employee of Gayfers department store for many years, died Wednesday at a local health care facility. She was 84.
Mrs. Parks was a longtime resident of Mobile.
Survivors include her son, Walter Delaney of Theodore; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Joanna C. Gill
Joanna C. Gill, who retired as a welder from Ingalls Shipbuilding Co., died Thursday at her home. She was 71.
Mrs. Gill was a native of Decatur, Ala., and a resident of Grand Bay for 50 years.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Gill of Leakesville, Miss.; and three grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Serenity Funeral Home. Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday in Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Lavesta Moore
Lavesta Moore, a native and resident of Mobile, died Monday in Sterlington, La.
Mrs. Moore is survived by one son, Louis R. Andrews Sr. of Chicago; two sisters, Trudy Adams and Philomena Moore of Mobile; and four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m., with services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
