Lou Ollie Palmer
MARION, Ala. - Lou Ollie Hartley Palmer, a native of Bibb County and former longtime resident of Saraland, died March 19 in a nursing facility in Marion. She was 91.
Survivors include four daughters, Doris Wheeler of Evans, Ga., Juanita Gardner of St. Mary's, Ga., Geneva Perine of Lutz, Fla., and Ruth Ray of Coden; one son, David Palmer of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two brothers, Doyle Hartley of Marion and Carl Hartley of Mobile; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services took place Monday at Pondville United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Kirk Funeral Home handled arrangements.

William B. Jones Jr.
William B. Jones Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, died Friday in a local hospital.
Jones, 79, was retired from Air Conditioning Engineers. He was a World War II veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a mystic society member.
He is survived by his wife, Anita H. Jones of Mobile; three daughters, Sharon K. Jones, Marsha J. Kittrell and Debra J. Hicks, all of Mobile; one sister, Mary Ellen Jones Brannan of Mobile; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Services will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with burial in Pine Crest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity.

Ethel Sims Goodman
PINE HILL - Ethel Sims Goodman, a homemaker and member of Pine Hill Church of God, died Friday at a Camden nursing facility. She was 79.
Mrs. Goodman was a Wilcox County native who resided in Pine Hill.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Clifford Goodman of Pine Hill; four sons, Bill Sims of Nettlesboro, Ala., Thurston Sims of Vineland, Ala., Burl Goodman of Scyrene, Ala., and Benny Goodman of Pine Hill; three daughters, Shirley Craft of Jackson, Brenda Nelson and Betty Goodman, both of Pine Hill; two brothers, W.W. Morgan and David Morgan, both of Pine Hill; two sisters, Bertha Tyler and Christine Newton, both of Pine Hill; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 tonight at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Independence Cemetery in Sunny South, Ala.

Raia J. Fox
NEEDHAM, Mass. - Raia J. Fox, a former Mobile resident, died March 17 in nursing facility in Needham. She was 86.
Mrs. Fox, a native of Ufa, Russia, came to the United States as a pre-med student at the University of Southern California.
She had lived in various places in the United States, including Michigan, Iowa, Florida, Illinois and Mobile, where her late husband, internationally-known scientist Sidney W. Fox, served as a visiting senior professor at the University of South Alabama.
Mrs. Fox had been involved in numerous charities.
Survived include three sons: J. Lawrence Fox of Lake Bluff, Ill., Ronald F. Fox of Smyrna, Ga., and Thomas O. Fox of Weston, Mass.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Eaton Funeral Home in Needham.

Mary T. Chapple
Mary Thompson Chapple, a Crichton resident, died Wednesday. She was 55.
She is survived by her mother, Rosa B. Thompson of Mobile; four sons, Michael Chapple of Biloxi, Miss., Tony Chapple of Mobile, Calvin Chapple of Pine Bluff, Ariz., and Isaac Chapple of Mobile; a step-son, Mose Chapple III of Prichard; two sisters, Irene and Dorothy Thompson, both of Mobile; three brothers, Johnny and Peter Thompson, both of Mobile, and William Thompson of Eight Mile; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church with services to follow. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Betty J. McLeod
Betty J. "Nanny" McLeod, a lifelong resident of Mobile, died Friday at her residence. The Premdor Corp. employee and former housemother at the Old Providence Hospital School of Nursing was 68.
She is survived by six daughters, Linda Stokes, Charlene Seaman, Virginia Knodel, Mai McLeod, Brenda York, and Bonnie York Kent; three sons, Bruce McLeod, Ronnie McLeod and Bobby York; a sister, Emogene Husby, 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Floyd E. Scott Jr.
D'IBERVILLE, Miss. - Floyd E. Scott Jr., a retired funeral director for Radney Funeral Home, died Saturday in D'Iberville, Miss. He was 78.
Scott was a native of Lumberton, Miss., resident of D'Iberville and former resident of Mobile. He was a deacon in a Baptist church, a member of Moose Lodge #332 and the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Ga.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Howes of Greensboro, N.C.; two sons, Floyd Scott III of D'Iberville and Gilbert Scott of Theodore; a sister, Geraldine Williams of Lucedale, Miss.; a brother, the Rev. Keith Scott of Lucedale; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Services will be at noon Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
