Mable I. Hempfleng
Mable I. "Coot" Wheeler Hempfleng, a native and resident of Mobile, died Sunday at the family residence.
Survivors include nine children, Linda Hoss, John F. Hempfleng, Virginia Wiley, Charles W. Hempfleng, Sara Sigouin and C.C. Hempfleng, all of Mobile, Edgar E. Hempfleng Jr. of Evergreen, Va., Bobby Hempfleng of Summerdale and Jimmie Hempfleng of Atlanta; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, where services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Frank J. Jones
Frank J. Jones, a retired mechanic with GM&O; Railroad, died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 89.
A native Mobilian, Jones was a member of the NAACP and a founding member of the Dragons Clubs Inc.
He was a member of Bethel AME Church, where he served on the senior usher board.
Survivors include two sisters, Beatrice Jenkins and Helen Robinson, both of New York City.
Visitation will be at Bethel AME Church, 714 Savannah St., on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery with Christian Benevolent Funeral Home in charge.

Mary M. Leavins
Mary M. Leavins, a native of McKinney, Texas, and resident of Mobile, died Saturday at the age of 85.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammie McDaniel and Mary E. Leavins, both of Mobile; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be at Serenity Funeral Home today from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. services.

Marie Weinacker Lipscomb
Marie Weinacker Lipscomb, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, died Sunday in a local nursing facility. She was 76.
Mrs. Lipscomb was a lifelong Mobilian.
Survivors include four children, William G. O'Brien and Charles P. O'Brien, both of Mobile, Cathy O'Brien White of Brandon, Fla., and John Turnbull of Fairhope; two brothers, Cas Weinacker and Charles Weinacker, both of Mobile; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street with the rosary recited at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church at noon Wednesday with burial in Catholic Cemetery.

Dorothy Coleman Rushing
Dorothy Coleman Rushing, a retired school teacher with Mobile County public schools, died Sunday at her home at the age of 79.
Mrs. Rushing, a native Mobilian, was a charter member of Mobile United and had served as a volunteer with many local organizations. She was a board member of the Visiting Nurses Association.
She was a member of St. Paul AME Church, which she served as a trustee, president of the lay council, Sunday school teacher, and member of the senior choir and the Willing Workers.
Other memberships included the Guess Who Bridge Club, Alabama State Alumni Association, Order of the Eastern Star Eleanor Chapter, and a charter member of the Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Murray of Atlanta, Jerryln London of Mobile and Sylvia Dukes of New Orleans; and three grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and after 5 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul AME Church, 1255 Montrose St., followed by visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Coley C. Spears
Coley C. Spears, who retired as an employee of the city of Mobile after 26 years, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 87.
A native of Geneva, Ala., Spears was a longtime Mobile resident.
He was a Mason and a member of Lott Road Methodist Church. He was a former member of a local mystic society.
Survivors include his wife, Trudie Spears; four children, Joseph C. Spears, Carolyn S. Daniels, Marilyn Spears and Donna J. Payne; four sisters, Corrine Spears, Annie Will Riley, Cleo Merle Wesley and Tom Edd Hogan; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street today from noon until the 2 p.m. services. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Lott Road Methodist Church building fund.

Willard J. Martin
GREENSBURG, Pa. - Willard J. Martin, husband of a former Mobile area resident, died Sunday in Greensburg. He was 83.
A native of New Castle, Pa., Martin lived in Greensburg. He retired from Mellon Bank after 29 years.
He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, the church council, the Hannastown Golf Club, and a former member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Junior Achievement Board. In addition, he was a former chairman of the Greensburg Parking Authority and a life member of the PTA and BPOE Lodge No. 511.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Laurie Dunn Martin, formerly of the Mobile area; two sons, Willard Martin Jr. of Pittsburgh and Daniel Martin of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Ann Robinson of Wallingford, Pa., and Bernadette Bayce of Fairfax, Va.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A blessing service will be at 1 p.m. today at Kepple Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St. in Greensburg, with Mass celebrated at 1:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Burial with full military honors will be in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Westmoreland Home Health Care or Westmoreland Hospice, 501 W. Otterman St. in Greensburg.
