Joseph 'Joe' Roberson
Joseph "Joe" Roberson, who had worked as a security guard, died Monday at his home after an illness. He was 54.
Roberson, a lifelong Mobilian, was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Ruby Roberson of Mobile; seven nieces, Phtruda Williams, Susie Williams, Carolyn Armstrong, Beverly Curtis, Barbara Wright and Thelma Arnold, all of Mobile, and Betty Brown of Racine, Wis.; and five nephews, Leroy Roberson Jr., James L. Roberson and Larry J. Roberson, all of Mobile, James Pugh of Racine and Willie Pugh of Panama City, Fla.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and after 8 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Louise 'Lou' Turner
Louise "Lou" Turner, a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, died Monday at a local hospital.
Mrs. Turner, a native of Selma, lived in Mount Vernon.
Survivors include two sons, Luevon Turner Jr. and Trinni Turner; her parents, Hugh and Ester Jones; 10 sisters, Vester Barnes, Betty Lewis, Earnestine Crockett, Huey Mae Wimbley, Rose Reed, Diann White, Lawanda Thomas and Kathy Scott, all of Mount Vernon, Mary Alice McCall of Mobile and Willie Mae Harris of Bay Minette; five brothers, James Harris and Agee Harris of Mobile, J.C. Harris of Milwaukee, Stanley Harris of Atlanta and Hugh Jones Jr. of Mount Vernon; and two grandchildren, including one she reared, Kenyatta Cherrell Turner of Mount Vernon.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Visitation will be at First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Vernon on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. services. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Delia L. Gamble
Delia L. Gamble, a homemaker and longtime member of Truevine Baptist Church, died Sunday at a local medical facility. She was 92.
The native of Orrville, Ala., was a longtime resident of Mobile.
She is survived by her caregiver, Thelma Jones of Mobile.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Friday with services at 10 a.m. at Lovett's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.

Billy Maxie
Billy Maxie, a native and resident of Mobile, died Tuesday at a local hospital after battling cancer. He was 56.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Maxie of Mobile; one daughter, Kimberly Millwood of Mobile; one son, Michael Maxie of Mobile; three brothers, Harry Maxie, Larry Maxie and Gerry Maxie, all of Mobile; one sister, Margie Harris of Mobile; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with graveside services at 2 p.m. in Wolf Ridge Cemetery.

Jessie Elvira Porter Norman
Jessie Elvira Porter Norman, a retired nurse, died Saturday in Mobile after a long illness. She was 85.
Mrs. Norman, a native of Jackson, Ala., was a graduate of Providence Hospital's School of Nursing in Mobile. She retired as head nurse of pediatrics at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1974 and returned to Alabama.
She was a member of Forest Hills Methodist Church in Mobile and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Looney of Dallas; and one brother, Fred Porter of Jackson.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Walker Springs Road in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge.

Ronald Gavin Bates
Ronald Gavin Bates, who was self-employed in the landscaping business, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was 50.
Bates, a native of Mobile, lived in Eight Mile.
Survivors include his father, Carl E. Bates of Eight Mile; three brothers, J.C. Bates of Daphne, Darrell Bates of Mobile and Gary Bates of Manassas, Va.; and six sisters, Evelyn Bates of Daphne, Carolyn Saranthus, Gloria McMillian and Janice Hufstetler, all of Mobile, Dianne Keglovits of Clearwater, Fla., and Janet Bates of Elberton, Ga.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Semmes. Private family memorial services will be at a later date.

Catherine Louise Swann Eanes
Catherine Louise Swann Eanes, who had served as secretary at Mercy High School and worked in the library at McGill-Toolen High School, died Tuesday at the age of 89.
Mrs. Eanes, a lifelong Mobile resident, was a parishioner of Little Flower Catholic Church. She was a member of the Little Flower Golden Age Club and the Burse Club.
Survivors include seven children, Catherine Eanes Eilers, Charles A. Eanes Jr. and Mary Agnes Eanes Lambert, all of Mobile, Mary Ann Eanes Glavan of Atmore, Maynard E. Eanes of Georgetown, Ala., Frank A. Eanes of Eight Mile and John J. Eanes of Semmes; one brother, George S. Swann of Mobile; one sister, Sister Mary Placida Swann, RSM, of Mobile; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Little Flower Catholic Church, with burial in Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church.
