Dr. Allen M. Pearson
AUBURN, Ala. - Dr. Allen M. Pearson, a former resident of Leroy, Ala., and retired professor emeritus of entomology at Auburn University, died Sunday at a retirement facility in Auburn. He was 90.
He was a member of the first graduating class at Leroy High School. He went on to graduate from Auburn and received his doctorate from Iowa State University.
Survivors include his daughter, Ann Bowling Pearson of Auburn, and two brothers, Theodore Pearson of Leroy and R.G. Pearson Jr. of Austin, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Bowling Family Graveyard in Leroy, with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson, Ala., handling local arrangements.

Loretta R. Andrews
Loretta Rickell Andrews, a Mobile native who lived in Panama City, Fla., died Monday in Panama City. The retired GM&O; Railroad worker was 72.
She is survived by three sisters, Grace L. Rickell of Panama City, Margaret New and Mary Buhring, both of Mobile; and two brothers, Paul R. Rickell Jr. of Mobile, and Norman V. Rickell of Glendale, Ariz.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile. Wilson Funeral Home in Panama City is in charge of arrangements.

Clynice Chambers
Clynice Chambers, a lifelong Mobile resident, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 40.
She is survived by a son, Calvin Reed Chambers of Mobile; a daughter, Brandy Marshea Chambers of Mobile; three sisters, Norean Chambers and Linda Blanks, both of Mobile, and Barbara Chapman of Holland, Mich.; three brothers, Percy and Alton Chambers, both of Mobile, and Walter Chambers of Detroit; and two grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at New Beginnings Church in Eight Mile. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with services to follow. Burial will be in Pineville Cemetery.

Gerald Russell
Gerald "Pumpkin" Russell, a Mobile resident and native of Geneva, Ala., died Sunday at age 23. Russell was the victim of a slaying in Toulminville.
He is survived by his father, Timothy B. Russell of Mobile; his mother, Suzette Russell Young of Mobile; two sisters, Ikina and Angela Russell, both of Mobile; his grandmother, Rebecca Russell of Mobile; and two grandfathers, Timothy B. Russell Sr. of Chunchula, and George McCaleb of Chicago.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Services will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at Mount Hebron AME Zion Church. Burial will be in Samson Cemetery in Samson.

Jesse H. Autrey
Jesse Howard Autrey, 42, a lifelong Mobile resident, died Tuesday at his home.
He was a carpenter and worked in residential construction for many years.
He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Autrey Newborn and Janet Autrey of Carera; six brothers, Joseph Autrey Jr., Thomas M. Autrey, Harold Autrey, James Autrey, Gene Autrey and Jackie Autrey of Mobile; five sisters, Lottie Coffman of Morringsport, La., Linda Bouler, Gloria Autrey, Brenda Young and June Bennett of Mobile; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Serenity Funeral Home, with services at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Cicero E. Burrell
Cicero E. Burrell, a Salas, Miss., native and a longtime Chickasaw resident, died Wednesday at his home.
Burrell, a graduate of Mississippi State and veteran of World War II, was retired from International Paper Co. after more than 30 years of service.
He was a former president of the Bromiliade Society and the Chickasaw Housing Board, and served as a board member of Compass Bank.
C.E. Burrell Park in Chickasaw was named in his honor for his many years of civic service.
He is survived by a son, Gene Burrell; a daughter, Barbara Burrell; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Arrangements will be announced by Radney Funeral Home in Saraland.

John N. Cosby
John N. Cosby, a Mayfield, Ky., native and a Mobile resident, died Tuesday in a local health care facility. He was 83.
Before he retired to Mobile, Cosby was employed in chemical engineering and research with Allied Chemical Inc. of Morristown, N.J., International Minerals and Chemicals Inc. of Chicago and United Engineers of Philadelphia. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, and his master's and doctorate degrees in organic chemistry from Penn State University.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Cosby of Mobile; two sons, Richard Cosby of Chicago and Gary Cosby of Philadelphia; one daughter, Barbara Kay Cosby of Eugene, Ore.; one stepdaughter, Frances K. Scordis of Philadelphia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, Ky. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Mayfield. A memorial service will be held later at All Saints Episcopal Church in Mobile.
