Russell L. Daugherty
STONEWALL, Miss. - Russell Luther Daugherty, a resident of Stonewall and formerly of Mobile, died Wednesday at an area hospital He was 78.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Daugherty of Stonewall; one son, Tommy Daugherty of Mobile; one daughter, Shelia deLuna of Mount Pleasant, Tenn.; one brother, Archie Daugherty of Stonewall; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services took place Friday at Cooper's Chapel Methodist Church with burial in Cooper's Chapel's cemetery. Wright's Funeral Home in Quitman, Miss., handled arrangements.

Marvin G. Booker
Marvin G. Booker, a retired officer with the Chickasaw Police Department, died Monday in a local hospital.
Booker, 68, formerly of Georgiana, Ala., lived in the Mobile area for 55 years.
He was a member of Chickasaw Masonic Lodge No. 894 F&AM; and Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 38.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Hudspeth Booker of Mobile; one daughter, Angela Carreon of Tokyo; two sons, Marvin Doyle Booker of Fairhope and Kevin Joseph Booker of Chickasaw; one brother, James Booker of Greenville, Ala.; four sisters, Marguerite Crum of Mobile, Mary Katherine Corrales of Valdosta, Ga., Ruth Huckabee of Eight Mile and Grace Skipper of Georgiana; two stepchildren; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, where services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

William Lawson Hurt
William Lawson Hurt, a former employee of GM&O; Railroad, died Monday at his home at the age 74.
A native of Carriere, Miss., Hurt lived in Mobile for a number of years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the USS Schalley.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hurt of Mobile; and his son, James A. Hurt of Mobile.
The family will be host to a memorial service at a later date. Gilmer's Funeral Service, 690 Zeigler Circle West, is in charge of arrangements.

John Jackson Sr.
John Thomas "Slick" Jackson Sr., who was a retired merchant seaman, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 75.
A lifelong Mobilian, Jackson was a deacon at Lily Baptist Church, where he was a member of the senior choir and the male chorus. He was also a member of the Seaman Club of Bethel AME Church.
Survivors include his wife, Francella C. Jackson of Mobile; three children, Glenys George, John T. Jackson Jr. and Neil Jackson, all of Mobile; five sisters, Helen Douglas, Ruth Douglas, Julia Jackson and Esamena Robinson, all of Mobile, and Margaret Washington of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and also at Lily Baptist Church, 360 Kennedy St., after 9 a.m. on Saturday. Visitation will follow at 10 a.m., with services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Casher Cemetery.

Linda Diane Reese
Linda Diane Reese, a native Mobilian and resident of Prichard, died April 13 at the age of 31.
Survivors include her son, Gregory Reese; her daughter, Lynnita Reese; her brother, Frank Reese; and her sister, Deborah Ann Moore.
Visitation will be at Little Rock Baptist Church, 152 Meaher St. in Prichard at noon today, with services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Prichard Cemetery, with Memorial Funeral Home of Prichard directing.

Catherine L. Wixey
Catherine Loftin Wixey, who had worked as an telephone operator with Bell Telephone, died Monday at her home.
Mrs. Wixey, 68, was a Marengo County native and a resident of Mobile.
Survivors include her husband, Lewie Gene Wixey of Mobile, and two brothers, Ralph Loftin and James L. Loftin, both of Nicholsville, Ala.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, Ala., with burial in Old Liberty Cemetery in Nicholsville.

Henry Souza Farroba
NORTH PORT, Fla. - Henry Souza Farroba, a former Mobile County resident, died Monday in North Port at the age of 83.
Farroba, formerly of Brunswick, Ga., was a retired shrimp fisherman and former operator of the Bayou Boat Co. in Bayou La Batre. He later moved to Bradenton, Fla., where he lived for 12 years until moving to North Port six months ago.
Survivors include his daughter, Ada B. Weston of North Port; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave. in Brunswick. Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Palmetto Cemetery.
