William T. Burch
Retired golf pro William Thomas "Willie" Burch died Tuesday at his home at the age of 82.
A longtime Mobile resident, Burch, known affectionately to many as "Uncle Willie, " had served as an assistant golf pro at Mobile Country Club. He retired as head pro at the Isle Dauphine Country Club on Dauphin Island.
He worked briefly for the Mobile Housing Board. While not attached to a golf organization, he traveled around the region giving lessons in places such as Jackson, Monroeville and Atmore.
Burch had served as president of the Mobile-Pensacola PGA and at one time coached the University of South Alabama's varsity squad.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served on Guam.
Survivors include his sons, Gerald T. Burch Sr. of Greenville, S.C., and William Joseph Burch of Baltimore; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street from 6 to 8 tonight. Services are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Catholic Cemetery.

Lelia H. Dixon
Lelia H. Dixon, a homemaker and resident of Mobile, died Saturday at a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Dixon, 83, was a native of McLain, Miss.
Survivors include her daughter, Janetta Coaxum; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1807 Reddy St., with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery. Hodge's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Clausell Ely
Clausell Ely, a retiree of the Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Co., died Monday at his home at the age of 82
A native of Gosport, Ala., Ely was a longtime Mobile resident.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Ely; three sons, George C. Ely of Atlanta, Clarence Ely of Mobile and Clausell Ely Jr. of Philadelphia; two daughters, Dorothy Battle and Virgia Buskey of Mobile.
Services are set for noon Saturday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery. Hodge's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Bertie Mae Leigh
Bertie Mae Leigh, a former deputy license commissioner for Mobile County, died Wednesday at her residence. She was 76.
A lifelong resident of Mobile, Mrs. Leigh owned C&L; Wholesale Florist. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church and a former member of Oakdale Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, David Leigh of Mobile; one daughter, Babbi Johnson of Mobile; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the noon funeral service Friday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

William E. Pastre
William Elwood Pastre, a veteran of the Vietnam War, died Saturday at a hospital in New York City. He was 49.
Pastre was a native of Sea Isle, N.J., and a resident of Theodore.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Pastre of Theodore; one daughter, Laura Lee Pastre of Delaware; five sisters, Janet Jasperse and Gail Horgan, both of New Jersey, Virginia Presthoffer and Bonnie Bashlor, both of Delaware, and Joyce De Marino of Texas; and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Serenity Funeral Home. Services are set for noon Friday at Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Opal Perkins Terlow
Opal Perkins Terlow, a retired waitress and housekeeper, died Monday at the age of 84.
Mrs. Terlow, a native of South Kaperton, W.Va., had lived in Bayou La Batre for many years. She was a resident of the Grand Bay Convalescent Home.
Among her survivors is her brother, James E. Perkins of Fayetteville, W.Va.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Serenity Funeral Home with visitation at noon. Burial will be in Oddfellow Cemetery.

Irvin Burgess Willard
Irvin Burgess Willard, an employee of the Mobile Association for the Blind for more than 30 years, died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 84.
Willard was a lifelong resident of Theodore.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Willard of Theodore; four daughters, Mabel Holloway of Theodore, Evelyn Webb of Mobile, Elaine Sagun of Loxley and Diane Mann of Daphne; three sons, Gene Willard and Kenneth Willard, both of Mobile, and Mack Willard of Theodore; two sisters, Vermell Willard and Ameal Willard, both of Theodore; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where services are set for 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Theodore.
