Alonza C. Oaks
Alonza Charles "Buck" Oaks, a retired carpenter, died Thursday at local hospital. He was 69.
Oaks, who resided in Mobile, was a native of Clanton. He was a member of University Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Oaks of Mobile; two daughters, Ann Maes of Birmingham and Linda Meadwell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Russell Oaks and Bobby Oaks, both of Clanton; two sisters, Betty Pledger and Aileen Bolton of Clanton; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Myrtle Lee Marlowe
Myrtle Lee Marlowe, a native of Truman, Ark., who resided in Chickasaw, died Sunday at a Selma hospital. She was 46.
She is survived by two brothers, Grady Marlowe Jr. of Orange Beach and Paul Marlowe Sr. of Eight Mile, and three sisters, Erlene Richardson of Tuscaloosa, Sue Winkle of Saraland and Mag Tarvar of Eight Mile.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home. Services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

Gertrude McCovey
Gertrude McCovey, a native of Shipman, Miss., who resided in Mobile, died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 96.
She is survived by three grandchildren, James McCovey of Brooklyn, N.Y., Glenn McCovey of Mobile and Lee Carol Quinn of Gulfport.
Viewing will be Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m. at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Pine Crest Cemetery.

Sallie T. Robinson
Sallie Thomas Robinson, a Gosport native and Mobile resident, died at a local convalescence home. She was 92.
She is survived by one sister, Gladys Johnson of Mobile; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with services to follow. Burial will be in National Cemetery.

Karen Weaver
Karen Weaver, a native of Citronelle who resided in McIntosh, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 34.
She is survived by her husband, Ronnie A. Weaver; a son, Jesse Rivers; a daughter, Nicolette Weaver, all of McIntosh; three brothers, Frank Riordan of Citronelle, Danny Riordan of Gulf Shores and Sammy Riordan of Citronelle; and two sisters, Rita Snow of McIntosh and Diane Clark of Atlanta.
Services took place Monday at Freeman Funeral Home, with burial at Lambert Cemetery in Citronelle.

James H. Williams
James H. Williams, a retired minister who evangelized and served as a pastor for more than 40 years in the Mobile area, died Tuesday. He was 84.
He is survived by four children, Bobby Williams, Shirley Jordan, Sandra Colvin and Linda Weisbach; two brothers, Dell Williams and Johnny Williams; a sister, Frances Cockren; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until services begin at noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

William J. Anderson
William J. Anderson, a native of Wilcox County, Ala., and resident of Mobile, died Monday at a local health care facility. He was 75.
Anderson was a member of the Metropolitan AME Church, where he served as secretary of the church, Sunday school teacher and a vice chairman of the trustee board. He was also a member of the Masonic Gulf City Lodge No. 14., Consistry No. 17, the 33rd Club, and was a past potentate of Shriners Palestine Temple No. 18.
Anderson was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 45 years of service.
He is survived by three sons, William J. Anderson Jr. of Mitchellville, Md., and George Anderson and Jeffrey Anderson, both of Mobile; and two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Johnson-Allen Mortuary.
