ATHENS -- Memorial service for John Earnest Phillips, 65, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Mr. Phillips died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at home. He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Johnson County, Ga., to Earnest and Rohema Hammick Phillips. He was a retired diesel mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Phillips; two sons, Earnest Phillips and James David Phillips, both of Lakeland, Fla.; three daughters, Jonnie Gail Phillips and Debra Gail Kendall, both of Lakeland, Fla., and Lisa Gail Phillips of Auburndale, Fla.; two stepsons, Timothy Barton of Athens and Charles Turner of Huntsville; one stepdaughter, Freda Sharp of North Carolina; one brother, Raiford Phillips of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Rosella Petty of Dublin, Ga.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Imogene Asherbranner Poole
87, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Imogene Asherbranner Poole, 87, of Hartselle will be today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Mack Carter officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.

Mrs. Poole died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Lawrence County to William Henry and Tommie Ellen Partridge Asherbranner. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Church of Christ. She was the widow of John Ellis Poole.

She is survived by two sons, R.V. Poole of Sidney, Ohio, and Wayne Poole of Hartselle; two brothers, W.A. Asherbranner and Ray Asherbranner, both of Falkville; one sister, Ruthie Poole of Hartselle; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Doris Sedenia Gillespie Suggs
78, grocery store owner

TRINITY -- Funeral for Doris Sedenia Gillespie Suggs, 78, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Joe Hoover, Bobby Graham, Charles Sparks and George Sinquefield officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Suggs died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at home. She was born July 16, 1921, in Lawrence County to Brit and Ellon Osborn Gillespie. She and her husband, Flavil Norris Suggs Sr., owned and operated Suggs Grocery on West Moulton Street for 25 years. She was a member of County Line Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Flavil Norris Suggs Jr. of Bowling Green , Ky.; two daughters, Alma S. Whitlow of Caddo and Joy Annette Buza of Swartz Creek, Mich.; two sisters, Ellon G. Sandlin of Caddo and Evelyn G. Sinquefield of Woodville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brit Whitlow, Kell Whitlow, Jason Suggs, Kevin Suggs, Don Alexander and Hoyt McCaghren.

Lillie Mae Terry

TRINITY -- Funeral arrangements for Lillie Mae Terry, 94, of Courtland, who died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center, will be announced by Parkway Funeral Home.

Mildred Christine Cherry Truss
62, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mildred Christine Cherry Truss, 62, of Hartselle will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Bob Kyker officiating. Burial will be in Russell Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Truss died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at home. She was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Jefferson County to Linnie Mack and Veller Rosanna Green Cherry. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was the mother of the late Joseph Clayton Truss and the sister of the late Virgil Cherry and the late Louise Mizzell.

She is survived by five sons, Victor Roy Truss of Malakoff, Texas, Randy Roy Truss and Linnie MacAuthor Truss, both of Somerville, Richard Earl Truss of Hartselle and John Jerdan Truss of Huntsville; two brothers, Bobby Cherry of Malakoff, Texas, and Ronnie Cherry of Sylacauga; one sister, Jean Boozer of Ashland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Victor Roy Truss, Randy Roy Truss, Linnie MacAuthor Truss, Richard Earl Truss, John Jerdan Truss and Jody Brookshire.

Nell Ishee Wise
75, homemaker

MADISON, Tenn. -- Funeral for Nell Ishee Wise, 75, of Nashville will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home.

Burial will be private. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wise died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at home. She was born July 10, 1924, in Hattiesburg, Miss., to Marvin Andrew and Gladys Powers Ishee. She was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Dalewood United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Spencer Wise Jr.

She is survived by one son, Michael Spencer Wise of Brentwood, Tenn.; and two daughters, Sarah Caroline Meador of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Mary Jo Alfano of Decatur.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 97136, Washington, D.C. 20090.

Michael Dean Blankenship

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. -- A memorial service for Michael Dean Blankenship, 38, will be in Baldwin Park at a time to be announced by the family.

Mr. Blankenship died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000. Mr. Blankenship was born July 22, 1962, in Wichita, Kan., to Ralph and Winnie Blankenship. His father is a former resident of Somerville and his grandmother was the late Inez Maples Blankenship of Somerville.

He is survived by two sons, Steven Blankenship and Phillip Blankenship, both of Baldwin Park; his father and stepmother, Julie Blankenship of Haysville, Kan.; one sister, Kathy Blankenship of Baldwin Park; two brothers, Ricky Blankenship and Mickey Blankenship, both of Baldwin Park.

Elmer Bodley
77, casting operator

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Elmer Bodley, 77, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. David Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bodley died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at his home. He was born March 2, 1922, in Morgan County to John William and Berta Emmaline Segars Bodley. He was a casting and drawing operator at Wolverine Tube Inc. in Decatur.

He is survived by one son, Charles Ray Bodley of Hartselle; one daughter, Linda Bodley of Hartselle; one sister, Lorene Moore of Hartselle; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Anders, Leon Anders, Luther Anders, Bobby Bodley, Billy Bodley and Ricky Joe Smith.

Darlo Casciano
55, hospital administrator

Funeral for Darlo Casciano, 55, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Culotta officiating.

Burial will be in Cameron Cemetery with Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Casciano died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at her home. She was born Feb. 1, 1945, in Lawrence County. She worked in administration at Huntsville Hospital and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was the sister of the late Dewayne Cameron.

She is survived by her husband, Louis Casciano; one son, Nicholas Casciano of Decatur; one daughter, Celeste Casciano of Decatur; her parents, Clyde and Lucille Cameron of Town Creek; one brother, Billy Cameron of Town Creek; and one sister, Yvonne Lee of Tanner.

Elsie Ruth Crowder
86, retired beautician

ATHENS -- Funeral for Elsie Ruth Crowder, 86, of Athens will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Crowder died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 8, 1913, in Lebanon, Tenn. She was a retired beautician. She was a longtime resident of Nashville, and she lived in Athens for 16 years. She was a supporter of the Republican Party. She was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church and attended Clements Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Roy D. Crowder of Athens; one brother, Jay Johnson of Nashville; one sister, Nelle Moore of Franklin, Tenn.; and one grandchild.

Olivia Jackson Harris

Funeral for Olivia Jackson Harris, 104, of Decatur will be Wednesday at noon at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert Cartwright officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery. Mrs. Harris died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Jan. 23, 1896, in Lawrence County to Horace and Annie Jackson. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Decatur and was its oldest member.

She is survived by five nephews, Samuel Jackson, William Jackson and George Jackson, all of Hillsboro, Woodrow Mayes and Claude Stewart, both of Cleveland, Ohio; and three nieces, Elease Shackelford of Hillsboro, Veronica Cable of Pulaski, Tenn.; Jessie Slades of Cleveland.

Darrell Cicero Hudgins
51, mechanic

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Darrell Cicero Hudgins, 51, of Decatur will be Wednesday at Oden Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Woods and the Rev. Raymond Stinson officiating.

Burial will be in Oden Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 9 at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Hudgins died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Morgan County to Edward T. and Geneva Woods Hudgins. He was a Baptist and a mechanic at Serra Toyota in Decatur.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Hudgins; two sons, Steven Hudgins and Danny Hudgins, both of Falkville; one daughter, Jamie L. Smith of Decatur; one stepson, Michael P. Eubanks of Decatur; three stepdaughters, LeeAnn Young and Charline Weaver, both of North Carolina, and Sandra Meares of Florence; one brother, Johnny E. Hudgins of Birmingham; three sisters, Robie E. Brown of Hartselle, Lois Stinson of Eva and Judy M. Lackey of Falkville; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Berry, Donald Berry, Michael Eubanks, Roger Hayes, Tommy Ray Lackey and Perry Thorn.

Burma Estelle McCrary
78, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Burma Estelle McCrary, 78, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Tanner with the Rev. Raymond T. McElhaney officiating.

Graveside service was to be at 2:30 p.m. in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tenn., with Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. McCrary died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Jackson County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tanner and a homemaker. She was the widow of James J. McCrary and mother of the late Brenda Sue McCrary and John L. McCrary.

She is survived by four sons, James Justice McCrary Jr., Bruce Lee McCrary, Gerald Wayne McCrary, all of Athens, and Paul William McCrary of Tanner; two brothers, Waylon Headrick of Gadsden and Marvin Headrick of Fyffe; five sisters, Willodean Hairell of Rainsville, Luverne Stevens of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Ruth Poole of Scottsboro, Corine Lacy of Ider and Maxine Townsel of Henager; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Daniel McCrary, Randall McCrary, Justin McCrary, Paul William McCrary II, David Casteel, David Ledford, Mike Compton and Jerry Freeman.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or First Baptist Church in Tanner.

James Edward 'Jim' Millette
61, U.S. Navy retired

Graveside service for James Edward "Jim" Millette, 61, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with military personnel officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mr. Millette died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 21, 1938, in Rapid City, S.D., to Myrtle Rachel Smith and John Hill Millette Sr. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.

He retired as chief warrant officer, grade 3, from the U.S. Navy after 21 years service. His last duty was an instructor at officer candidacy school in Newport, R.I. Among his commendations, were the Secretary of the Navy Achievement medal with combat, Good Conduct third award, National Defense, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal -- Lebanon service, Vietnam campaign, and Vietnam service medal fifth award.

Mr. Millette is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann Millette; three sons, James Eric Millette of Bossier City, La., Sean Wilson Millette and Lance Harlene Millette, both of Decatur; two sisters, Mary Idella Surface of Rockford, Ill., Betty Lou Sehon of Wichita Falls, Texas; and one grandson.

U.S. Navy personnel will be pallbearers.
