HARTSELLE -- Funeral arrangements for Mary A. Lenox, 91, of Lacey's Spring, who died today, Feb. 17, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center, will be announced by Peck Funeral Home.

Curtis Arlo Sharp
87, retired farmer, carpenter

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Curtis Arlo Sharp, 87, of Somerville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Somerville Church of God with the Rev. Otto Yount, the Rev. Gary Webster and the Rev. Pearl Jenkins officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Sharp died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Jan. 19, 1913, in Morgan County to Donnie Alvie and Alice Mae Sharp. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and was a member of Somerville Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Christine Sharp; two sons, James Allen Sharp of Moscow, Tenn., and Dewitt Arlo Sharp of Somerville; three brothers, Grafton Sharp of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Berford Sharp and Joe Sharp, both of Decatur; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Conley Sharp, James King, Carlton Sharp, Steve Sharp, Greg Sharp and John Sharp.

Ethel Avaline Spencer
79, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ethel Avaline Spencer, 79, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Smith officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Spencer died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in the Leggtown community.

She is survived by one sister, Eathyle Spencer of Lester.

Pallbearers were to be Clayton Spencer, Joe Spencer, Glen Spencer, William Spencer, Glenn Pressnell and Lynn Nelson.

Emmett Eubanks Sr.
95, paper company retiree
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Emmett Eubanks Sr., 95, of West Memphis, Ark., will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Eubanks died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Beverly Health Care in West Memphis. He was born Feb. 1, 1905, in Alabama. He retired in 1970 from Scott Paper Co. in Prichard after 20 years of service and was a former resident of Wesley Highland Towers Retirement Home in Memphis. He was the widower of Dora Ola Cooper Eubanks and the father of the late Billy Eubanks and Emmett Eubanks Jr.

He is survived by one daughter, Martha Ann Castleberry of West Memphis; two sisters, Lois Woodard and Ruby Brasseal, both of Decatur; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith Futrell, John Ackfeld, David Spencer, Harlan Brasseal, John Brasseal and Buddy Dunlap.

Mary Kirby

MOULTON -- Funeral arrangements for Mary Kirby of Moulton, who died today, Feb. 18, 2000, at National Health Care, will be announced by Lawrence Funeral Home.

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mary A. Lenox, 91, of Lacey's Spring will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Valhermoso Holiness Church with the Rev. Melvin Brown and the Rev. Don Trosper officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lenox died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Feb. 8, 1909, in Smithville, Tenn., to Tom and Adaline Meirs Pack. She was a homemaker and a member of Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church.

She is survived by six sons, John Lenox and Richard Lenox, both of Valhermoso Springs, Elmer Lenox and Gene Lenox, both of Lacey's Spring, Billy Lenox of Huntsville and Jerry Lenox of Dexter, Mo.; three daughters, Margie Persinger of Lacey's Spring and Linda Hill and Sue Fielder, both of Somerville; and 31 grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Barry Wayne Melson
32, farmer

TRINITY -- Funeral for Barry Wayne Melson, 32, of Trinity will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Marcus Lipscomb and Anthony Tyler officiating.

Burial will be in Aldridge Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Melson died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at his home. He was born June 8, 1967, in Lawrence County to Abe and Kathleen Melson. He was a farmer and the brother of the late Billy Melson.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Goodwin Melson; two sons, Bradley Melson and Steven Melson, both of Trinity; two daughters, Whitney Melson and Brooke Melson, both of Trinity; two brothers, Wayne Melson of Trinity and Harold Melson of Town Creek; and three sisters, Brenda Randolph, Lagina Osborn and Barbara Keenum, all of Trinity.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

John Lee Stephenson
73, retired service manager

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for John Lee Stephenson, 73, of Hartselle will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Blackman, the Rev. Ralph Jones and the Rev. Calvin Inman officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Stephenson died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born June 6, 1926, in Morgan County to Adlai Howard and Alma Irene Jones Stephenson. He was a veteran of World War II and retired as service manager at McClary Tire Co. in Decatur. He was a charter member of East Highland Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was the brother of the late Howard Stephenson, Loyd Stephenson and Mildred Stephenson English.

He is survived by his wife, Mary McLain Stephenson; five sons, David Stephenson of Florence, Douglas Stephenson, Christopher Stephenson and Danny Stephenson, all of Hartselle, and Donald Stephenson of Decatur; one sister, Sylvia Stephenson Walker of Falkville; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Scott Stephenson, Stewart Stephenson, Jimmie Walker, Rick Stephenson and Richard Gurley.

Vicky Susan Charbonnet
44, former Decatur resident

Funeral for Vicky Susan Charbonnet, 44, of Taylors, S.C., died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 15, 1955, in Smyrna, Tenn., to Kenneth and Gladys Michaels. She was a resident of Decatur in 1985-86 while her husband was employed at Wolverine Tube. The couple was active in the "8-ers from Decatur" square dancing club.

She is survived by her husband, John Charbonnet of Taylors; two sons, Marcel Charbonnet and Emile Charbonnet, both of Taylors; and two sisters, Vivian Michaels and Dawn Michaels, both Melbourne, Fla.

Allen Ray Eli

MOULTON -- Funeral for Allen Ray Eli, 40, of Mount Hope will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Hall officiating.

Burial will be at Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Eli died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000. He was born Aug. 28, 1959, in Colorado to Raymond Allen and Ruth Eli. He was a peacetime Army veteran and a spotter at Gold Kist Poultry.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Eli of Mount Hope; three sons, Brandon Holt, Derek Holt and Michael Holt, all of Mount Hope; one daughter, Tiffany Holt of Mount Hope; his parents; two brothers, Raymond Allen Eli II of Kansas and Roger Allen Eli of Oregon; and one sister, Mary Dehoyos of Kansas.

Mary Kirby
78, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mary Kirby, 78, of Courtland will be Sunday at 11 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. C.G. Reding officiating.

Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Colbert County. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kirby died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at National Health Care. She was born March 9, 1921, in Lawrence County to Joe and Idella Terrell. She was the widow of Paul Henry Kirby, the mother of the late Paul Edward Kirby and Wade Kirby, a homemaker and member of Fish Pond Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Jim Kirby and Danny Kirby, both of Decatur, and Bo Kirby of Town Creek; four daughters, Judy Terry of Courtland, Cleazelle McCay of Moulton, and Pat McMillian and Robin Logston, both of Hatton; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Kirby, Greg Kirby, Jeff Kirby, Dwight McCay, Denon McMillian and Phillip Terry.

John E. McDonald
86, retired police sergeant

BIRMINGHAM -- Funeral for John E. McDonald, 86, of Birmingham was Feb. 8, 2000 at Roebuck Chapel with Ridouts Brown-Service directing.

Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. McDonald died Feb. 5, 2000. He was a retired sergeant with the Birmingham Police Department, the chief of security at Baptist Medical Center Princeton, a member of Huffman United Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday school class and a charter member of Fraternal Order of Police Birmingham Lodge No. 1.

He is survived by his wife, Frances McDonald; one stepson, Tommy J. Goodwin of Birmingham; two daughters, Judy Young of Chattanooga and Janice James of Decatur; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Benjamin Franklin Sowell

ATHENS -- Memorial service for Benjamin Franklin Sowell, 50, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Sowell died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital.

C. Smith Trimble
82, retired accountant

FLORENCE -- Funeral for C. Smith Trimble, 82, of Florence will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Barry Anderson and the Rev. Leonard McDowell officiating and Elkins Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 5 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Trimble died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Glenwood Convalescent Center. He was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Decatur to James Claude and Freda Smith Trimble. He was the widower of Faye Lewis Trimble. He was a retired accountant, a long-time resident of Florence, a member of First United Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Class and the Alabama Association of Public Accounts and past president of the Downtown Florence Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by two sons, James E. Trimble of Springfield, Va. and David L. Trimble of North Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Libby Heinemann of El Paso, Texas, and Mary Virginia Tidwell of Florence; three brothers, Fred Trimble and Mahlon Trimble, both of Decatur, and Bob Tremble of Tempe, Ariz; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund in Florence.
