Funeral for Herman B. Cavnar, 86, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Vanlandingham officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11 at the funeral home.
Mr. Cavnar died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at South Morgan Health Care. He was born July 19, 1913, in Decatur to Barney D. and Effie Mae Sandusky Cavnar. He was the former owner of Cancellations Shoe Store for 35 years, a member Ninth Street United Methodist Church, and Masonic Lodge 29 of Decatur for 50 years.
He is survived by one son, Ronnie F. Cavnar of Decatur; and three grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Neil, J.O. Sims, B.L.Sims, Lawrence Lamar, Tommy Sims, James Dunlap and Tom Davis.
Memorials may be made to Ninth Street United Methodist Church children's choir, or Hospice of the Valley.

She was born Jan. 22, 1948, in Decatur to Emmett Hodges Minor and Dollee Conzy Higgins. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur and mother of the late Christopher Hodges Mitchell.
She is survived by one son, John F. Mitchell of Decatur; one sister, Mary Nancy Smith of Decatur; and one grandchild.

Mr. Cooper was born Feb. 4, 1959, in Illinois. He was a refinery supervisor.

Mr. Hood died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at his home. He was born March 1, 1928, in Lawrence County to Jack and Eller Hood. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church and a retired fencer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Hood; six sons, James Hood, Donald Hood, Scotty Hood, Victor Hood, Ricky Hood and Marty Hood, all of Decatur; seven daughters, Linda Wesley, Mary Hood, Loretta Vest, Margaret Hood, Diane Wilhite and Priscilla Hood, all of Decatur, and Darleen Posey of Piney Grove; one brother, Hershel Hood of Decatur; 30 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

ATHENS -- Arthur Lee Skeldon Jr., 80, of Athens died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1919 in Toledo, Ohio. He was a World War II Army veteran and father of the late Hodge Skeldon.
He is survived by two sons, Arthur Lee Skeldon III of Tallulah, La. and Rickey Sheldon of Slidell, La.; and one daughter, Vicki Benderbender of Oak Grove, La.
No funeral is planned.

Benjamin Franklin 'Ben' Sowell

Mr. Sowell died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Limestone County to Charles W. and Christine Sowell. He was a member of West Highland Baptist Church, Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of The American Revolution, a Civil War re-enactor and an independent businessman with Alpine Air Purifiers.
He is survived by his wife, Amy M. Sowell; two sons, Thomas Sowell and Benjamin Lucas Sowell, both of Athens; one daughter, Stacie M. Sowell of Newport News, Va.; his parents of Athens; three brothers, Charles A. "Tony" Sowell, Mike W. Sowell and Joe M. Sowell, all of Athens.

Mr. Burt died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Morgan County to Tom and Minnie Burt. He sang with Lucky Fours, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Garner Memorial Church, and retired from Decatur Box and Basket Factory.
He is survived by one daughter, Shirley Johnson of Decatur; and one grandson.
