Funeral for Prentice Odell Griffin, 75, of Oakville will be Wednesday at noon at Sharpley Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary A. Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in Oakville. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffin died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at his home. He was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Moulton to Hence and Annie Lee Griffin. He was a retired farmer. He was the brother of the late Herman Lenzo, Otis Lenzo, Annie Pearl Burgess, Velma Griffin, Nayjewel Hawkins and Ruby Seal Orr, and the father of the late Earskine Griffin, Howard Griffin, James Griffin and Carolyn Griffin.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eva Mae Gibson Griffin; three sons, Thomas Griffin and Kenneth Griffin, both Oakville, and Earl Roger of Hartselle; six daughters, Odessa Brackin, Patricia Stover, Cardella Hawkins, Paulette Taylor, Gloria Taylor and Melissa Horton, all of Oakville; two brothers, Gurney Griffin of Oakville and Hence Griffin Jr. of Alexander City; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Dot Harville
69, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Dot Harville, 69, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Hood and the Rev. Tony Anderton officiating.

Burial will be in Rutherford Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harville died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at her home. She was born April 10, 1930, in Fayette County to Ed and Virgie Wilson. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Harville; three daughters, Judy Lovelace of Florence, and Dialla Ray and Jackie Owens, both of Moulton; two sons, Alvin Harville and Jason Harville, both of Moulton; one sister, Betty Wilson of Tuscaloosa; three brothers, Johnny Wilson of Russellville, and Roger Wilson and Lynell Wilson, both of Jasper; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Justin Owens, David Ethridge, Stacey Ray, Dwight Dutton, Jamie Brewer and Billy Hamilton.

Opal Quattlebaum
92, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Opal Quattlebaum, 92, of Falkville will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Cemetery in Morgan County with the Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Quattlebaum died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Falkville Health Care. She was born Oct. 9, 1907, in Morgan County to William and Minnie Cook Wilcutt. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She was the widow of John Larkin Quattlebaum.

She is survived by three sons, Hershel S. Quattlebaum of Smyrna, Tenn., Shirley "Jake" Quattlebaum of Cincinnati and John Quattlebaum of Eight Mile; three daughters, Wilma Looney of Falkville, Virginia Harber of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Janice Lickliter of Cincinnati; one brother, Delmar Wilcutt of Terre Haute, Ind.; one sister, Cordia Anders of Falkville; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Craig Powell, Hank Quattlebaum, Jimmie Quattlebaum, Neil Quattlebaum and Bobby Rhoads.

Leona Renee 'Nay Nay' Sneed

FLORENCE -- Graveside service for Leona Renee "Nay Nay" Sneed, 36, of Fayetteville, Tenn., will be Wednesday at noon at Ennix Cemetery in Hillsboro with the Rev. Curtis Foster officiating and Thompson and Son Funeral Home directing.

Miss Sneed died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Fayetteville. She was born June 11, 1963, in Florence to John Edward Sneed and Margaret Ann Horton Sneed. She was the sister of the late Derrick Horton.

She is survived by one brother, Johnny Cole of Florence; five sisters, Marietta Fuqua of Town Creek, Loretta Carroll, Jennifer Sneed, Debra Cole and Yolanda Thompson, all of Florence; and her grandmother, Hattie Horton of Florence.

Eldon Davis Toller
62, security guard, ambulance driver

MOULTON -- Memorial service for Eldon Davis Toller, 62, of Moulton was Monday at Elliott Funeral Home with Tommy Smothers officiating.

Mr. Toller died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1938, in Vanceburg, Ky., to William and Lovell Toller. He was a security guard and ambulance driver at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Terry Toller; one son, Matthew Toller of Falkville; one daughter, Lovelle Ann Toller of Morgan County; two brothers, Virgil Toller of Florence, Ky., and Wendell Toller of Bethel, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Veleree Othelle Farmer
75, retired store merchant

ATHENS -- Funeral for Veleree Othelle Farmer, 75, of Athens will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Tim Driggers and Greg Patrick officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Farmer died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Valley View Nursing Home in Madison. She was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Lauderdale County. She was a retired store merchant and a member of Blackburn Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Don Farmer and Rex Farmer, both of Athens, and Terry Farmer of Elkmont; one brother, James Corum of Hartselle; and one sister, Forthie Alexander of Bonnertown, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Farmer, Philip Farmer, Scott Farmer, Chad Farmer, Wendell Powers and Lance Hammond.

Memorials may be made to Blackburn Road Baptist Church.

Margie Grizzard Gillespie
70, Decatur General retiree

Funeral for Margie Grizzard Gillespie, 70, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Stephenson and the Rev. O.D. Bowling officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gillespie died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Morgan County to Roy and Ressie Ethel Brothers Grizzard. She was retired from Decatur General Hospital as a communications supervisor with 26 years of service. She was the widow of Vernis C. Gillespie.

She is survived by one son, Tony Gillespie of Decatur; and two daughters, Sandy Gillespie Shelton and Karen Gillespie Jenkins, both of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Whisenant, Bruce Kimbrell, Bill Crump, Marlin Cagle, Jake Lowery and Steve Mooney.

Memorials may be made to Decatur General Hospital Foundation.

Pearl S. Knox
72, Decatur City Schools retiree

Funeral for Pearl S. Knox, 72, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Compton and the Rev. Dr. Richard Walker officiating.

Burial will be in Powell's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Knox died Monday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born June 29, 1927, in Rogersville to Thomas and Maude Ella Ritter Slaton. A member of Austinville Baptist Church, she had worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and was retired from Decatur City Schools.

She is survived by her husband, Roy A. Knox; one son, Roy A. "Ronnie" Knox Jr. of Decatur; one daughter, Tina K. Morris of Decatur; two sisters, Millilee Howard of Florence and Erma Terry of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be E.L. Slaton III, Greg Morris, Mike Slaton, Scotty Slaton, Bobby Slaton, Junior Clemons, Jarrell Waddell and Doug Kretzschmar.

Janice Dianne Thomas New
49, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Janice Dianne Thomas New, 49, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Harvest Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Brian Hancock officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 19, 1950, in Morgan County to Willie Thurman and Mavene Wilson Thomas. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Shadrix; three daughters, Lisa Looney of Fairview, Kim New of Eva and Marcia New of Somerville; her parents of Somerville; two sisters, Patricia Hill of Hartselle and Debbie Creel of Madison; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wiley Looney, Eddie Hill, Eric Moore, Eric Fowler, Norton Smith and Gary Sterling.

Lorene Owens
74, retired school cook

Funeral for Lorene Owens, 74, of Decatur will be Friday at noon at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John M. Owens officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mrs. Owens died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Morgan County to Andrew and Agnes Thomas Owens. She worked at Hunter Furniture and as a cook for Decatur City Schools for 15 years. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in Choir No. 2 and served on the usher board and missionary society.

She is survived by two sons, the Rev. John M. Owens and Charles Gregory Owens, both of Decatur; three daughters, Gwendolyn Joyce Elliott of Muscle Shoals, and Linda Kay Stewart and Sharon Yvonne Owens, both of Decatur; one sister, Allean Wallace of Chicago; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Deacons from her church will be pallbearers.

Dean Roberson
64, business owner

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Dean Roberson, 64, of Falkville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Hines officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Roberson died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at his home. He was born May 15, 1935, in Arkansas to William Howard and Ethel Ann Nuckles Roberson. He was the owner of Falkville Siding Co. and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a transportation sergeant in field artillery.

He is survived by his wife, Movlyn Roberson; two sons, Dean Roberson Jr. of Lehi, Utah, and Howard Clay Roberson of Falkville; one daughter, Judy Cummins of Decatur; two brothers, Bill Roberson of Loneoak, Ark., and Kenneth Roberson of Atkins, Ark.; five sisters, Ruth Oliver of California, and Faye Stroud, Betty Jagawski, Irene Lonon and Linda Threldkeld, all of Arkansas; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Cummins, Micah Vaughn, Jeff Massey, Frankie Massey, Donald Allred and Jeff Robinson.

Cecil E. Ross
70, retired maintenance painter

ONEONTA -- Funeral for Cecil E. Ross, 70, of Somerville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Kings Valley Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Woodard and the Rev. James W. Ross officiating.

Military Burial will be in Antioch Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Ross died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville. He was born July 22, 1929, in Covington, Tenn., to Rupert William Ross and Anna Ruby Ross. He was retired from Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, Ohio, where he worked as a maintenance painter.

He is survived by his wife, Alice J. Ross; two sons, Terry Ross of New Albany, Ind., and Jerry Ross of Somerville; three daughters, Teresa McWhinnie and Lisa Cribley, both of New Hampshire, and Connie Richardson of Lorain; one brother, James W. Ross of Jeffersonville, Ind.; three sisters, Mildred Hyde of Chicago, and Barbara Rea and Ruth Anderson, both of Memphis; and seven grandchildren.

Coy John Waldrep
77, Chrysler retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Coy John Waldrep, 77, of Athens was to be today at 3 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Wendell Wiser and Michael White officiating.

Burial was to be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Waldrep died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Lawrence County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Southside Church of Christ and was retired from Chrysler Corp. in Cleveland, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Pressnell Waldrep; three stepsons, Larry Pressnell, Don Pressnell and Dennis Pressnell, all of Athens; one stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Dutton of Athens; two sisters, Norma King of Decatur and Bobbie Chavez of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
