Funeral for Charles Harris Eyster Jr., 80, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richmond Webster officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the Eyster residence.
Mr. Eyster died Friday, March 3, 2000, at home. He was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Decatur to Charles Harris and Kitty Bibb Eyster. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1941 at The University of Alabama and a bachelor of laws degree in 1948, and was admitted to the Alabama Bar. He served with the Fifth Air Force during World War II in the Far East, the Philippines, Okinawa and Korea. He was a judge advocate during the Korean War, a charter member of the Guam Bar and a graduate of the Air Force Command and Staff School. He developed residential properties on Trinity Mountain, property in Decatur and industrial properties in Flint. He was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church for more than 79 years.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Rountree Eyster; one daughter, Margaret Eyster Fite of Decatur; one brother, John C. Eyster of Decatur; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be William B. Eyster Jr., John C. Eyster Jr., Edward J. Davies, Robert King, John Key, Julian Bibb III, Ed Thomas and Robert Tweedy III.
Memorials may be made to the St. John's Episcopal Church Building Fund.
William Buren Guthrie Sr.

ATHENS -- Funeral for William Buren Guthrie Sr., 90, of Elkmont will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Ferguson and Byron Davis officiating.
Burial will be in Reunion Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Guthrie died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Limestone County to George H. and Martha Pitts Guthrie. He was a retired farmer and retired as a carpenter with the Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a member and former elder of Elkmont Church of Christ. He was the father of the late Janice Gooch and Hollis Guthrie and the brother of the late Marvin Guthrie and the late Hubert Guthrie.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice Guthrie; four sons, William B. Guthrie Jr., Lloyd Wayne Guthrie, Lavern Guthrie and Daryl Keith Guthrie, all of Elkmont; six daughters, Carolyn Guthrie McGlocklin of Tanner, Sharon Guthrie Usery of Elkmont, Barbara Guthrie Hemphill of Ardmore, Sheila Guthrie McKnight and Susan Guthrie Holt, both of Athens, and Phyllis Guthrie Spencer of Lester; four sisters, Leona Thompson and Sue Bruce, both of Cleburne, Texas, Louise Leonard of Ada, Okla., and Pauline Marshall of Blum, Texas; 25 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchidren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Holland died Friday, March 3, 2000, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 23, 1904, in Morgan County to James Marion and Amanda Oden Rutledge. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught a Ladies Sunday school class for many years. She was the widow of Chester Holland.
She is survived by two sons, James Holland of Decatur and Leland Holland of Lansing, Mich.; one daughter, Paula Holland Phillips of Decatur; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Reed died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at home. She was born March 21, 1947, in Morgan County to James David and Mattie Mae White Myers. She was a homemaker. She was the sister of the late Billy Myers.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Reed; three sons, Steven Reed of Hillsboro, Ricky Reed of Saginaw, Mich., and Bobby Myers of Moulton; two daughters, Angela Sawyer of Hillsboro and Lisa Osborn of Moulton; three brothers, Charles Myers and Kenneth Myers, both of Double Springs, and Wayne Myers of Moulton; four sisters, Elsie May Farley of Town Creek, Wynita Steele and Betty Fay McCullough, both of Double Springs, and Gail Jordan of Bessemer; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Shields died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Athens Convalescent Center. She was born Feb. 12, 1910, in Lauderdale County and was a lifelong resident of Limestone County. She was a member of Hays Mill Church of Christ. She and her late husband, Pat Shields, owned and operated Pat Shields Grocery at Hays Mill. She later worked at Gray & Holt Dry Good Store for more than 30 years.
She is survived by one son, Buddy Shields of Athens; one daughter, Joyce Cage of Nashville; one brother, Ottis Kennemer of Athens; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was the grandmother of Mary Bateman and Jody Peterson, both of Decatur. She was the widow of Ezra Brown and the mother of the late Allardyce Godsey and the late Gorman Brown.
She is survived by one son, Oswyn Brown of Muscle Shoals; one daughter, Mary B. Melvin of Muscle Shoals; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Central Church of Christ. She was the widow of Earnest Terrell and George T. Daly and the sister of the late Will Stewart Sr.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.

The widow of Merle L. Davis, she is survived by two sons, E. Russell Davis of Decatur and James A. Davis of Hartselle; one daughter, Susan Merle Nix of Indianapolis; two sisters, Margaret Veal and Frances Dutton, both of Decatur; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
