Funeral for Effie Tucker Ridgeway, 96, of Cartersville, Ga., formerly of Decatur, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Todd Evans and the Rev. Eileen Campbell-Reed officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ridgeway died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at Cartersville Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1903, in Lawrence County, to John Lafayette Tucker and Dora Freeman Tucker. She was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She also volunteered for the foster grandparents program. She was the widow of Febbie Lee Ridgeway and mother of the late Arlin Ridgeway and Ila Hammond.
She is survived by three sons, John A. Ridgeway of Parrish, Wayne Ridgeway of Gadsden and Winston Ridgeway of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Anne Ridgeway Harmon of Decatur and Wennell Ridgeway Parker of Cartersville; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Horace James Rogers Sr.
86, retired mail carrier
ATHENS -- Graveside service for Horace James Rogers Sr., 86, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Don Osborne officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Rogers died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 17, 1912, in Limestone County. He was a lifelong resident of Limestone County and a member of Central Church of Christ.
He was an Army-Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Air Force reserves during the Korean War. He was co-owner of Dixie-Lee Service Station in Athens for more than 20 years. He worked for the Athens Post Office as a rural mail carrier until his retirement in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Nella Carter Rogers; one son, H. James Rogers Jr. of Athens; one daughter, Nella Christopher of Athens; one sister, Ruth Helen Goehler of Athens; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Paul Goehler, Tom O'Hara, Garth Louvorn, Jimmy Corder, Thomas Langley and David Langley.
Memorials may be made to Central Church of Christ or Hospice of Limestone County.
Alma Ruth Suggs

Funeral for Alma Ruth Suggs, 71, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Holy Church of Christ with James Toone and Mike Nix officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Suggs died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 3, 1927, to Walter Morgan and Georgia Thrasher Morgan.
She was a member of First Holy Church of Christ and retired from Wal-Mart as a department manager.
She is survived by her husband, James Paul Suggs; one son, Jimmy Suggs of Trinity; two daughters, Diana Medelak of Naperville, Ill., and Pam Lovingood of Trinity; three brothers, Gay Morgan, Ham Morgan and Homer Morgan, all of Moulton; two sisters, Ona Mae Whitlock and Nelia Sandlin, both of Trinity; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Suggs, Joshua Suggs, Ron Rikard, Bobby Suggs, Chad Morgan and Dennis Lindley.

Mrs. Carr died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Nashville. She was a payroll clerk for Dunlop Tire Corp. in Huntsville.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Anderson of Huntsville; two brothers, John Wayne Tucker of Huntsville and Donald Edward Tucker of Iola, Texas; and one sister, Linda Reese of Akron, Ohio.
Betty Joyce 'Pat' Cloer

Mrs. Cloer died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at the residence of her caregiver in Falkville. She was born April 4, 1937, in Alabaster, to Louie Beasley and Henretta Peal Beasley. She was an intensive care unit nurse at Hartselle Medical Center and a member of the Beulahland Church.
She is survived by two brothers, Bobby Beasley of Sebring, Fla., and Billy Joe Beasley of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Beasley Jr., Timothy James Beasley, Bobby Beasley Jr., Emory McCaw, Jim Chappell and Donald Stover.
Sam Cohen Jr.

Funeral for Sam Cohen Jr., 78, of Decatur will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Pentecostal House of Prayer with the Rev. A.C. Strong officiating and Sharpley Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be at Trinity Mountain Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Cohen died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Lawrence County to Sam Cohen Sr. and Helen Heard Cohen. He was a member of the Pentecostal House of Prayer for more than 30 years. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Haley of Nashville.
Nieces and nephews will be pallbearers.

Miss Cosby died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at the Burn Center of the University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. She was born Sept. 13, 1960, in Limestone County. She served in the U.S. Army and graduated from Athens High School in 1978. She worked in produce at a grocery store.
She is survived by one daughter, Delisa Cosby of Athens; her father, Ervin Cosby of Athens; five brothers, Khon Cosby of Montgomery, Adolph Cosby, Marious Cosby, Jeremaine Weeks, all of Huntsville and Thadius Williams of Triana; two sisters, Wilhemenia Cosby and Casscilla Cosby, both of Athens; and one grandchild.

Mrs. Day died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at her residence. She was born July 31, 1908, in Morgan County to Garrison Luker and Amelia Wolff Luker.
She retired as a sales clerk at Montgomery-Ward and Pizitz in Huntsville. She was a member of the Valhermoso Springs First Christian Church, the widow of William Winfrey Day and the mother to the late Katie Sue Day, Margaret Nell Day Thompson and Glenda Day Grant.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Day of Tallahassee, Fla., and Judge Bobby Day of Decatur; two daughters, Wanda Day Young of Decatur and Mary Jane Day Brunette of Huntsville; one sister, Virginia Meredith of Winter Haven, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren.; and eight step great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane Cox of Rogersville; her mother, Dorothy McNairy of Rogersville; one sister, Louise Jenkins of Rogersville; and one grandchild.
