HARTSELLE -- Funeral for VaNell T. Childers, 76, of Falkville will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Whitley and the Rev. Wayne Vincent officiating.
Burial will be in Cook Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Childers died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Morgan County, to Lem Rivers and Susan Opal Sterling Turney.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, was the widow of Brady Childers and was the mother of the late Steve Childers.
She is survived by three sons, Greg Childers and Keith Childers, both of Hartselle, and Anthony Childers of Falkville; one daughter, Suzanne Childers of Hartselle; one step-son, Lewis Childers of Sanford, Fla.; two step-daughters, Betty Eastham and Dorothy Childers, both of Sanford, Fla.; three brothers, Fletcher Turney of Athens, Bobby Turney of Hartselle and Ray Turney of Tennessee, five sisters, Dorothy Parsons of Oden Ridge, Mildred McNutt and Vivian Vest, both of Hartselle; Hazel Murphy and Dean Smith, both of Falkville; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Connie Walling, Johnny Keith Childers, Randy Childers, Ray Miller, Terry Miller and James Shaffer.
Vernon H. Garner

TUSCALOOSA -- Vernon H. Garner, 73, of Tuscaloosa died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at the Veterans Administrative Hospital in Tuscaloosa.
A private family memorial service was directed by Heritage Chapel in Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Garner was born Sept. 5, 1925, in Bessemer. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Bessemer Southern Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Curtis Garner of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Sandra Callahan of Decatur; two brothers, Virgil Garner of Fairhope and Jim Garner of Adger; one sister, Faye DeFrancico of Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Larry Glen Hinkle

ATHENS -- Funeral for Larry Glen Hinkle, 54, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Billy McGregor and James Hinkle officiating.
Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Hinkle died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn. He was born April 3, 1945, in Limestone County. He was a member of Corinth Church of Christ and a former custodian at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was the son of the late Sam Hinkle and brother of the late Eugene Hinkle and Johnny Hinkle.
He is survived by his mother, Neva Hinkle of Athens; six brothers, Benny Hinkle, Kenneth Hinkle, both of Athens, Hollis Hinkle of Huntsville, Stanley Hinkle of Toney, James Hinkle of Dickson and Dwight Hinkle of Decatur; and one sister, Ruby Hinkle Hall of Toney.
Brothers will be pallbearers.
Leora Ezell Corder Morse

ATHENS -- Funeral for Leora Ezell Corder Morse, 91, of Lester will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Ray Blankenship officiating.
Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Morse died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at her home. She was born Oct. 9, 1907, in Texas. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was previously married to the late Theo Corder, and she was the mother of the late Theo A. "Bud" Corder.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" O. Morse; one stepdaughter, Rachel Davis Clem; one brother, Clayton Ezell of Kennesaw, Ga.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Estil Ezell, Tommy Ezell, Tim Christopher, Marcus Christopher, Herbert Wilson Ezell and Mike Ezell.
Henry Keno "Denbo" Swoopes

Funeral for Henry Keno "Denbo" Swoopes, 63, of Athens will be at noon Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Timothy Swoopes officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Foster -Davis Cemetery.
The body will be in the church one hour before the service Saturday.
Mr. Swoopes died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Lawrence County to Joseph Swoopes and Pauline Whitfield Swoopes. He was a barber, a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church and played with a semi-professional baseball team in his youth.
He is survived by one son, Danny Swoopes of Birmingham; one daughter, Teresa Swoopes of Birmingham; his mother, Pauline Swoopes of Hillsboro; two brothers, Joseph Swoopes of Hillsboro and Charles Swoopes of Decatur; four sisters, Edna Swoopes, Julie Spencer and Ruth Yarborough, all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Vivian Boyd of Hillsboro; and seven grandchildren.
Cousins will be pallbearers.
Ruby Winnett Williamson

Mrs. Williamson died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at her residence. She was born April 12, 1910, in Jefferson County to James and Fannie May Williams Farris. She was a homemaker and former resident of Mor gan County. A member of West End United Methodist Church in Hartselle, she was the daughter to the late Carlene Winnett and Rhonda G. Williams.
She is survived by five sons, Luther Winnett Jr. of Branson, Mo., Carlis Winnett and Ronald Winnett, both of Flippin, Ark., Cecil Winnett of Ash Flat, Ark., Don Winnett of Arkansas; two daughters, Eleanor Bishop of Hartselle and Barbara J. Lampkin of Flippin; 32 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
Delmer Oliver Bagwell
84, teacher, principal and coach
Funeral for Delmer Oliver Bagwell, 84, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home and requests any memorials be made to Hospice of Morgan County.
Mr. Bagwell died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 1, 1915, in Morgan County. He spent 40 years as an educator beginning his career at Gum Pond Elementary School. He was coach at Union Hill High School from 1940 to 1950. His 1950 team won Morgan County's first boys state basketball championship. He served as principal at Union Hill and Cotaco School from 1951 to 1965, and also served as coordinator for federal programs at schools in Morgan County. After retiring, he worked with the Teachers Federal Credit Union. He was a member of Morgan County Sports Hall of Fame. An active member of Southside Baptist Church, he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and on various committees. He was the father of the late Steve Bagwell of Decatur.
He is survived by his wife, Edeleth Bagwell; one son, Joe Bagwell of Nashville, Tenn.; four brothers, Lewis Bagwell of Birmingham, J.C. Bagwell of Fort Myers, Fla., Leno Bagwell and Rex Bagwell, both of Arab; two sisters, Lottie Bagwell Witt of Hot Springs, Ark., and Eloise Bagwell Cagle of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Nancarrow, J.D. Light, Bill Chapman, Oliver Meredith, Willard Hadley and Theo Hadley.
Deacons of Southside Baptist Church and members of his former basketball teams will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Rhonda Jo Garrison

Funeral for Rhonda Jo Garrison, 32, of Decatur will be today at 10 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Estes Hardin and the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Basham Cemetery.
Miss Garrison died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at her home. She was born Sept. 7, 1966, in Morgan County. She was the daughter of the late Lester Isaac Garrison. A member of Basham United Methodist Church, she worked at Prestolite for 13 years and was an emergency medical technician with Flint Volunteer Fire Department.
She is survived by her mother, Myrtle "Tootsie" Garrison of Decatur; two brothers, Lanny Garrison and Steve Garrison, both of Decatur; four sisters, Sandra Blackmon of Arab, Nada Yucura of Scottsboro, and Monta Lou Brackin and Beretta Garrison, both of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Brad Oliver, Rodney Oliver, Michael Cowley, Stephen Downs, Ricky Thompson, Dale Ware, Kris Owens and J.H. Terry.
David A. Havercroft

The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home and requests memorials be made to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Decatur.
Mr. Havercroft died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center-Harrison. He was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Saginaw, Mich. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, a 1974 graduate of Eisenhower High School and attended Western Michigan University. He was self-employed as a landscaper. He was the brother of the late Ronald E. Havercroft.
He is survived by one son, Andrew David Havercroft of Saginaw, Mich.; his parents, Donald and Norma Havercroft of Decatur; one brother, Richard Havercroft of Saginaw, Mich.; and one sister, Laura Thompson of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Garth LaPlante, Scott Strattard, Matt Peterson, Al Taylor, Mark Symkowiak and Jim Grills.
