Sarah Mae Jones

Funeral for Sarah Mae Jones, 72, of Town Creek will be Wednesday at noon at Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. W. T. Shackelford officiating.

Burial will be in Early Pasture Cemetery near Hillsboro with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 7 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church for one hour before the service.

Mrs. Jones died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Helen Keller Memorial Hospital in Sheffield. She was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Lawrence County to Dave "Tite" Shoulders and Martha Porter Shoulders. She was a member of Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Elois Jones, Willa D. Jones-Jones, and Sara Jones, all of Town Creek; three brothers, John W. "MC" Shoulders and James "Obey" Shoulders, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and David Shoulders of Hillsboro; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.

Naomi H. Kerr
92, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Naomi H. Kerr, 92, of Athens will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Wendell Gann and James Bridges officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kerr died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at her home. She was born May 16, 1908, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rogersville Church of Christ. She was the widow of Charles Reese Kerr and the mother of the late James and Michael Ray Kerr.

Survivors include seven sons, Harry Kerr of Killen, Larry Kerr of Birmingham, Jerry Kerr of Rogersville, Rodney Kerr of Seaford, Va., and Charles Kerr, Lloyd Kerr Sr., and Tom Kerr, all of Athens; three daughters, Mitzie Cowley of Huntsville, Nancy Cooper of Rogersville and Betty Kiep of Athens; 36 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Kerr, Kevin Kerr, Lloyd Kerr Jr., Darwan Kerr, Shannon Cooper, Bryan Kiep, Jeff Cowley and Chris Kerr.

Alex Davis Malone
78, maintenance worker

Funeral for Alex Davis Malone, 78, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oakland Methodist Church with the Rev. George Allen officiating and Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Malone died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born March 4, 1922, in Limestone County to William Davis Malone and Lillian Malone. He was a retired maintenance worker at Decatur Transit and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian of America Church in Mooresville. He was the widower of Daisy Jones Malone and the father of the late Annie Ruth Malone.

Survivors include two sons, Harry James Malone and Alex Stanley Malone, both of Decatur; three daughters, Mary Gholston of Huntsville and Georgia Mae Ellison and Betty Jean Jones, both of Decatur; one brother, Willie Malone of Toledo, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Donald Thompson, Harry James Malone Jr., Jessie Lee Wilson, Sontana Robinson, Kevin Collier and Muhammed Jones.

Ethel Hill Warren
92, retired schoolteacher and town merchant

TRINITY -- Funeral for Ethel Hill Warren, 92, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Phillip Warren and Greg Kelsoe officiating.

Burial will be in Aldridge Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Warren died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at National Heath Care Center.

She was born Feb. 5, 1908, in Lawrence County to William Thomas Hill Jr. and Ella Belle Mullican Hill.

She taught in Lawrence County schools for 35 years and was the former owner and operator of a grocery store on the corner of Main and Court Street in Moulton. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was the widow of Roy Anderson Warren, the mother of the late Thomas Briscoe Warren, and the sister of the late Floyd Anthony Hill, Willie Elizabeth Hill Jacobs and Lillie Josephine Hill Rylant.

Survivors include one daughter, Mignonette Warren Kelsoe of Speake; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Warren Rea Kelsoe, Todd Olen Kelsoe, Dennis Jackson, H. Jerome Thompson, Jeffery Hughes and Patrick Hughes.

Eula Jenkins Aldridge
94, homemaker
MOULTON -- Funeral for Eula Jenkins Aldridge, 94, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Becker and the Rev. Riley Turner officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The body will be in the funeral home one hour before the service.

Mrs. Aldridge died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born Jan. 21, 1906, in Town Creek, to R.H. Jenkins and Jenny Crisler Jenkins. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late James Earl Aldridge, who operated Aldridge Barber and Beauty Shop on the Moulton Square for more than 40 years. Mrs. Aldridge was a member of the Moulton Church of Christ, where she was active until her illness, having organized the Senior Singles. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a charter member of the Moulton Garden Club. Mrs. Aldridge was one of the people instrumental in getting the name of the City Cemetery changed to Moulton Memory Gardens.

Survivors include three sisters, Sybil J. Gibson and Martha J. Terry, both of Town Creek and Marcilla J. Turner of Moulton.

Brenda Starr Edwards Evans
33, licensed practical nurse

CULLMAN -- Funeral arrangements for Brenda Starr Edwards Evans, 33, of Vinemont, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Brown officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Evans died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in Cullman County. She was born March 2, 1967, to Gilbert Edwards and June C. Edwards, and was a licensed practical nurse. She was the granddaughter of the late W.L. "Bud" Pate.

Survivors include her husband, Don Evans; one son, Alex Wayne Evans of Vinemont; one daughter, Sari Elizabeth Evans of Vinemont; her father and stepmother, Gilbert and Connie Edwards of Crane Hill, and her mother, June C. Pate of Gold Ridge; two sisters, Tammy Sharpton of Jones Chapel and Allison Sharpton of Crane Hill; her grandparents, Eunice Pate of Hanceville, and Gilbert D. Edwards and Kathleene Edwards of Decatur.

William Wayman 'Bill' Gilmer
63, retired Delta Air Lines pilot

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- A memorial service for William Wayman "Bill" Gilmer, 63, of Gainesville will be announced by his family.

Mr. Gilmer died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, when he drowned after apparently suffering a heart attack as he drove his personal water craft on Old River at Orange Beach, Ala.

Local arrangements were handled by Mack Funeral Home of Robertsdale, Ala.

Mr. Gilmer was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Anderson, S.C., to Gaddis Wayman Gilmer and Georgia Lee Muldrow Gilmer. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a retired Delta Air Lines pilot.

Survivors include his wife, Doreen Koch Gilmer; one son, William Muldrow Gilmer of Fayetteville, Ga.; one daughter, Rebecca Gilmer Simpson of Atlanta; one sister, Tolly Gilmer Shelton of Decatur; and three grandchildren.

ATHENS -- Funeral for Eugene Kellum, 73, of Athens was to be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Patrick and the Rev. R.C. Craft officiating.

Burial was to be in New Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Kellum died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his home. He was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Limestone County to Boyd Kellum and Elizabeth Christopher Kellum.

He was a retired brick mason, a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and the widower of Mary Hope Kellum.

Survivors include three sons, Danny Kellum, Paul Kellum and Randy Kellum, all of Athens; one daughter, Debby Summers of Athens; two brothers, Thomas Odell Kellum of Athens and Charles Kellum of Ocala, Fla.; four sisters, Eva Davis of Athens, Lounette Perry and Betty Sulcer, both of Milton, Fla. and Joyce Walker of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Kellum, Ralph Davis, Ronnie Moss, Marty Kellum, Chris Kellum, Mark Kellum and Caesar Kellum.

Memorials may be made to Gambro Health Care Dialysis Center.

Carol Marks Key
60, NASA retiree

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Carol Marks Key, 60, of Huntsville will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with Mike Carroll officiating.

Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Key died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in Fayetteville, Tenn. She was born Oct. 19, 1939, in Huntsville. She was retired from NASA.

She is survived by her husband, Murray Ray Key; three sons, Richard Key of Decatur, Jimmy Key of New York, N.Y., and Mark Key of Harvest; one daughter, Linda Balch of Huntsville; one brother, John Marks of Huntsville; four sisters, Hazel Bramlett of Lacey's Spring, Elaine Esser, Barbara Taylor and Sue Wall, all of Huntsville; and eight grandchildren.

Dovie Maze

Mrs. Maze died today, Sept. 5, 2000, at her daughter's home in Hartselle. She was born May 7, 1918, in Limestone County to Walter Wiggington and Nona Garlin Wiggington.

She was the widow of Dennis Maze, a member of Union Church of Christ and a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Wiley of Hartselle; one sister, Louise Wiggington of Hartselle; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Roy Lee Murphy
59, machine operator

MOULTON -- Funeral for Roy Lee Murphy, 59, of Mount Hope will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Strickland and Rev. Jim Bacchas officiating.

Burial will be in Heflin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Murphy died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1941, in Lawrence County, to Earnest James Murphree and Ruthie Belle Johnson Murphree. He was machine operator with Taylor's Bulldozer Service, and was the brother of the late Jerald Murphree.

Survivors include his wife, Laverne Blackwood Murphy; two daughters, Karen Ann Murphy of Town Creek and Dana Carol Murphy Fike of Mount Hope; two brothers, Harold Murphree of Mount Hope and Nathaniel Murphree of Town Creek.

Pallbearers will be Michael Sutton, Donnie Vess, Jonathan Murphree, Jeff Ikard, Irvin Brannon, and Stan Stephenson.
