Jefferson Coolidge Hargett
76, retired restaurant owner

HALEYVILLE -- Funeral for Jefferson Coolidge Hargett, 76, of Haleyville will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with the Rev. Jerome Sherrill and the Rev. Joe Lennox officiating.

Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens in Russellville. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hargett died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. He was born March 12, 1924, in Franklin County to Chess Hargett and Maggie Duncan Hargett.

He retired from the restaurant business after building and owning several Catfish Haven Restaurants in North Alabama. He was a former resident of Russellville but lived in Haleyville the past 16 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Russellville and was a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Vinson Hargett of Haleyville; two sons, Jim Hargett of Greenville, S.C., and Ken Hargett of Knoxville; two daughters, Diane Taylor of Decatur and Sarah Hargett of Haleyville; one sister, Betty Pursley of Sheffield; one brother, Joe B. Hargett of Rockwood; one grandson; and eight granddaughters.

John A. Maples
81, Stone Lumber retiree

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for John A. Maples, 81, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in New Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Maples died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 20, 1919, in Morgan County to Robert Lee Maples and Mary Etta Caudle Maples.

He was retired from Stone Lumber Co. in Decatur and a member of New Center Baptist Church. He was father of the late Mark Maples and brother of the late Oscar "Buck" Maples, Pat Maples and Tressie Callahan.

Survivors included his wife, Pauline Maples of Hartselle; one daughter, Teresa Maples Champion of Hartselle; one sister, Elsie Maples Nuby of Hartselle; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Hann, Jerry Reeves, James Reeves, Paul Dunaway, Douglas Mason and Jimmy Shadden.

Douglas Gene Poole

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Douglas Gene Poole, 51, of Hartselle will be today at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Mr. Poole died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at home. He was born Jan. 1, 1949, in Morgan County, to Odie Lee Poole. He attended Falkville High School and was a member of Falkville First United Methodist Church. He was the grandson of the late Floyd and Edna Looney and Tom and Annie Poole.

Survivors include his mother of Hartselle; one brother, Allen Poole of Summerville, S.C.; and three sisters, Joyce Coffey of Decatur, Patsy Springer of Jonesboro, Ga., and Phyllis Kay Walden of Danville.

Pallbearers will be Fred Button, Michael Springer, Robbie Springer, Joshus Poole, Larry Winton and Chris Proctor.

Timothy Wayne Prater
35, electrician helper

TRINITY -- Funeral for Timothy Wayne Prater, 35, of Danville will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Speake Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Francis Proctor officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Alexander-Wilburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the church.

Mr. Prater died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Sept. 28, 1964, in Morgan County to Charlie and Dorothy Prater. He was an electrician helper and the grandson of the late Howard Kay Melson.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sheree Collins Prater of Danville; one son, Mitchell Alan Prater of Danville; one daughter, Magen LeAnn Prater of Danville; his parents of Danville; one brother, Jamie Prater of Trinity; two sisters, Anita Lacy of Danville and Sarena White of Danville; his grandparents, Verbie Melson of Moulton, Leonard Prater of Decatur and Pauline Prater of Danville.

Carrie Dale Alred
92, homemaker
MOULTON -- Funeral for Carrie Dale Alred, 92, of Trinity will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Bennett officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alred died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born March 28, 1908, in Lawrence County to Arza Lee Proctor and Emma Lou Goodwin Proctor. She was a homemaker and member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Coy Alred and Odell Alred, both of Trinity, and Gene Alred of Decatur; one daughter, Carolyn Peebles of Trinity; two brothers, Leon Proctor and Rubert Proctor, both of Moulton; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Greg Alred, Joe Alred, Phillip Alred, Zach Alred, George Reiser and Marty Frost.

Heather Alicia Creel
13, student

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Heather Alicia Creel, 13, of Hartselle will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Walters officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends at today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miss Creel died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born March 22, 1987, in Marshall County to Richard A. and Melissa C. Creel.

She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God, a student at Sparkman Junior High School, a member of the Beta Club and granddaughter of the late Billy Drinkard.

Survivors include her parents of Hartselle; one brother, Christopher Alan Creel of Hartselle; her grandparents, Jerry and Patsy Creel of Hartselle and Nancy Gwen Drinkard of Eva; her great-grandparents, Amon and Clara Creel of Baileyton, Dorothy Drinkard of Eva and Mamie Sherrill of Vinemont.

Pallbearers will be Brian Creel, Mike Drinkard, Ken Drinkard, Alan Drinkard, Hank Creel and Dwayne Creel.

Eleanora Sue Weinman Hamilton
98, educator

Funeral for Eleanora Sue Weinman Hamilton, 98, of Decatur will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Noble officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.

Mrs. Hamilton died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Bessemer. She was born Dec. 7, 1901, in Morgan County to Joseph Otto Weinman and Julia McCrosky Weinman.

Mrs. Hamilton was an educator for Morgan County and the Decatur City School systems for more than 45 years. She was the widow of E.G. Hamilton and a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Allen Hamilton of Decatur; one daughter, Jo Hamilton Holt of Bessemer; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Building Fund or to a favorite charity.

Dalton Henry
62, Howmet Co. laborer

KNOX, Ind. -- Funeral for Dalton Henry, 62, of La Porte, Ind., will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Braman and Son Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Minix officiating.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Henry died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at his home. He was born April 23, 1938, in Morgan County to Ed Henry and Ethel Turner Henry.

He was a laborer at Howmet Co. in La Porte, Ind., and brother of the late Robert Henry and Joe Henry.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Owens Henry; two daughters, Beth White and Mary Levine both of La Porte; one son, Don Henry of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Cozie Holmes and Gladys Knox, both of Hartselle; three brothers, James Henry and Charles Henry, both of Hartselle, and Howard Henry of Lorraine, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Hillard Henson
70, retired U.S. Air Force

MOULTON -- Funeral for Hillard Henson, 70, of Mount Hope will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Amos Hood and Don Morris officiating.

Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Moulton. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Henson died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Lawrence County to Wesley Henson and Dellar Blankenship Henson.

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, and was the widower of Linnie Mae Borden Henson and brother of the late John Henson, Gifford Henson, L.V. Henson and Elmer Henson.

Survivors include five stepdaughters, Betty Cox of Courtland, Sue Cole and Alice Wilkerson, both of Moulton, Gladys Morris of Town Creek and Kay Winton of Decatur; three brothers, Fred Henson of Mount Hope, Jerry Henson of Augusta, Ga., and Paul Henson of Bowling Green , Ky.; and two sisters, Lela Lawrimore of Russellville and Doris Fuller of Kalamazoo, Mich.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Emmett Kelsey Hollis
92, retired farmer

MOULTON -- Funeral for Emmett Kelsey Hollis, 92, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Bennett officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mr. Hollis died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1907, in Tennessee to Wiley Hollis and Sallie Moore Hollis.

He was a retired farmer, father of the late Wylie Hollis and member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Austin Hollis; two sons, Kenneth Hollis of Moulton and Edward Hollis of Courtland; two daughters, Jane Hollis Anderson of Moulton and Shirley Hollis Young of Landersville; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Anderson, D.J. Anderson, Rickey Anderson, Kel Hargett, Heath Hollis and Brandon Mize.

Mary Shaw Ozier
16, Decatur High student

Funeral for Mary Shaw Ozier, 16, of Decatur will be today at 4 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Noble officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 1:30 to 4 at the church.

Miss Ozier died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in Decatur. She was born Dec. 29, 1983, in Decatur to Lynn and Carol Ozier. She was a junior at Decatur High School.

Survivors include her parents of Decatur; two brothers, Davis Ozier and Allen Ozier, both of Decatur; her grandmothers, Eugenia Ozier of Decatur and Shirley Shaw of Hickman, Ky.

Pallbearers will be Jack Ozier, Johnny Ozier, Kin Copeland, Roger Ferrell, Jim Shaw, George Shaw and Steve Speed.

Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Building Fund and American Cancer Society.
