Mr. Sparkman died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1952, in Denison, Texas, to Elmer Sparkman and Frances McKinney Sparkman. He was a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include one son, Lane Sparkman of Albertville; his mother of Denison; four brothers, David Smith and Stephen Sparkman, both of Denison, John Sparkman of Decatur and Fred Sparkman of Aurora, Colo.; and one sister, Pat King of Arab.

Mrs. Flannagan died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at her home. She was born March 17, 1944, in Limestone County to Hubert Walker Cobb and Myrtle Cobb. She was a homemaker and attended the Baptist church. She was the widow of Clarence Junior Flannagan and the sister of the late Stephen Walker Cobb.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Flannagan of Toney and Tommy Flannagan of Huntsville; two daughters, Joan Cluxton and Cindy Brooks, both of Elkmont; her mother of Athens; seven brothers, James Cobb of Calera, Okla., Wayne Cobb of Port Richey, Fla., Douglas Cobb of Decatur, and Danny Cobb, Edward Cobb, Glenn Cobb and Hubert Cobb, all of Athens; four sisters, Betty Fuller of Phoenix, Martha Blankenship of Ardmore, and Linda McElyea and Brenda Smith, both of Athens; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Hurst died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 8, 1896, in Lawrence County to Thomas Anderton and Belle Wallace Anderton. She was a homemaker and the widow after 72 years of marriage of Wilburn A. Hurst.
Survivors include one son, Malcom D. Hurst of Hatton; two daughters, Dorothy Hurst Kimbrough of Trinity and Willodean Hurst of Hazel Green ; one sister, Ila Summers of Town Creek; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Mason died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 4, 1910, in Barton to Mr. and Mrs. Silas Mason. He was a retired farmer and a member of Town Creek First Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Mason; four sons, Neal Mason Jr. of Sheffield, Bernard Mason of Courtland, Larry Mason of Town Creek and William Mason of Cherokee; three daughters, Ester Lee Moore of Leighton, and Ida Bell King and Myrtle Wiggins, both of Town Creek; one stepdaughter, Geneva Wilson of Chattanooga; 24 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Metts died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredricksburg, Va. He was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Louisville to John Phillip Metts Sr. and Ruby Kennett Metts. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a longtime scout leader for Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Metts; one son, John Metts of Fredricksburg; one daughter, Melinda Brown of Salinas, Calif.; his stepmother, Louise Metts of Louisville; three sisters, Ruby Louise Metts of Louisville, Lucille Baldwin of Natchez, Miss., and Jackie White of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Ola B. Mitchell, 92, of Hartselle was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Clint Busler and the Rev. Bill Cole officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Mitchell died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. She was born May 4, 1908, in Morgan County to Thomas Jefferson Tanner and Darthula Ida McAnally Mitchell. The daughter of a Civil War veteran, she was one of the few remaining Real Daughters of the Confederacy. She and her husband built several businesses in Hartselle, including United Stage Equipment, which is still in operation and one of Hartselle's oldest businesses. She was the widow of Hubert Mitchell and the mother of the late Howard Bunyan Mitchell.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth "Mitch" Coon of Hartselle; and one sister, Inez Watkins of Somerville.
Pallbearers were to be John Howell, Harvey Segars, Dale Strider, Scott Stone, Bill Waldo and Charles Quinn.
Nephews were to be honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Organ Fund of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle.

Mrs. Orr died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born April 28, 1917, in Tennessee to William B. Boedan and Ida Bell Winchester Boedan.
Survivors include three daughters, Martha Dearman and Margie Rothlisberger, both of Priceville, and Vadie Howton of Jasper; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Self died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at his home. He was born June 27, 1933, in Morgan County to James Elbert Self and Edith Pauline Self. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and retired from Wolverine Tube after 23 years service.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Self; three sons, Tony Self of Franklin, Tenn., Dwain Self and Jonathan Self, both of Hartselle; two daughters, Anita Cook and Rita Green , both of Hartselle; one brother, Robert Self of Hartselle; six sisters, Idalene Singleton, Hazel Brown, Wilma Boger, Inez Borden and Edna White, all of Hartselle, and Eleanor Gouge of Decatur; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Kelley; three daughters, Linda Aders of Huntsville and Debbie Cox and Teresa Tully, both of Anderson; and three grandchildren.

He was born Sept. 28, 1912, in Walker County to Walter Killingsworth and Rinda Woodard Killingsworth. He was a retired freight handler for U.S. Pool and a member of Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church in Decatur.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Killingsworth; two sons, Edward D. Killingsworth and Bobby O. Killingsworth, both of Rockwood, Mich.; three sisters, Minne Stone, Alice Kennedy and Vera Proctor, all of North Carolina; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
