Mrs. Officer died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at National HealthCare in Pulaski, Tenn. She was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Hanceville to Matthew Anderson Creel and Mary Nigg Creel. She retired as a receptionist for a Decatur physician and was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Mark Officer of Hartselle; two daughters, Susan Officer Brooks of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Phyllis Officer Davis of Decatur; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Velma Lott Perry
90, Perry Grocery owner
Funeral for Velma Lott Perry, 90, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Evans officiating.
Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Perry died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Sun Bridge Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Cullman County to Milo Brown and Nancy Lott Brown. She was a Baptist. She owned Perry Grocery Store and was a former Goodyear employee.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Lott of Gainesville, Ga., and Frank Lott of Decatur; two daughters, Vivian Sullins and Shirley Childers, both of Decatur; three stepsons, Charles Perry, Bill Perry and James Perry, all of Decatur; one brother, Hoyt Alvis of Decatur; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Rev. Lee W. Williams

ATHENS -- Funeral for the Rev. Lee W. Williams, 64, of Athens, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at People's Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Yarbrough Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 27, 1935. He served as minister of Mt. Pisqah Missionary Baptist Church and was a past minister of Little Elk Missionary Baptist Church and Reuben Missionary Baptist Church. He was past moderator of the Indian Creek Association and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Frances Williams; three sons, James Williams of Indianapolis, the Rev. Charles Williams of Florence and Dennis Williams of Athens; three daughters, Martha Hardy, Carol Lane and Drenda Cosby, all of Athens; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Eunice Maclin Balentine

Funeral for Eunice Maclin Balentine, 90, of Decatur, will be Saturday at noon at Saint Stephen Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Lewis officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The Order of Eastern Star will perform a ritual at that time. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.
Mrs. Balentine died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Dec. 15, 1909, in Limestone County to the Rev. Pearl and Rosie McDonald Maclin. She was a member of Saint Stephen Primitive Baptist Church, where she served on the Mothers Board and in the choir and Sister and Brother Auxiliary. She was vice president of the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Women's Congress and a member of the Indian Creek Mothers Board. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Elizabeth Chapter 40 and she was a Girl Scout leader in Decatur and a former president of the Parent-Teacher Association at Decatur Negro High School.
Survivors include two sons, George Balentine of Dover, Del., and Leroy Balentine Jr. of Augusta, Ga.; five daughters, Mazie Hollingsworth and Dorothy Wood, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Annie Ruth Harris of Decatur, Eulylia Balentine of Huntsville and Vernette Elliott of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one brother, Thomas Maclin of Tanner; two sisters, Esther Jones and Claudine Hines, both of Cleveland; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mr. Holt died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Hendrix Nursing Home in Double Springs. He was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Lawrence County to William Holt and Sally Black Holt. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include one brother, Ruel Holt of Moulton.

Mrs. Light died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Arab to Till Johnson and Mary Bryant Johnson. She retired from First State Bank in Decatur as a teller. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, W.C. Light; one daughter, Patricia Ponder of Arab; and one brother, Nelson Johnson of Arab.
Pallbearers will be David Light, Ken Sharpe, Jeff Johnson, Mitchell Fuller, Bobby Johnson and Jimmy Johnson.
Darmer McBride Jr.

Graveside service for Darmer McBride Jr., 75, of Courtland were to be today at 11 a.m. at Courtland Cemetery with the Rev. James Long and the Rev. Sam Wallace officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.
Mr. McBride died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Medical Center Shoals. He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Lawrence County to Trannie Parker McBride and Darmer McBride. He retired from NASA in 1974 as an electronics technician.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Alexander McBride; and one sister, Charlotte M. Clark of Russellville.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Alexander, Gerry Alexander, Dale Alexander, Harry Graham, Michael Hughes and Johnnie Hall.

Mr. White died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Morgan County to John Taylor White and Margaret Phillips White. He was a charter member and deacon of Maranatha Baptist and retired from Tennessee Valley Authority Browns Ferry Nuclear plant. He was a World War II Navy veteran and the widower of Pauline White.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. White; one daughter, Sue Tapscott of Decatur; two sisters, Annie Bell Standridge and Lillian Miller, both of Decatur; eight stepchildren; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be J.R. Holland, Larry Mahathy, Wade Downs, Dean Holland, Hollis Mahathy and Owen Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the church and members of American Legion Post 15.

Mr. White died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Hardin County General Hospital in Savannah. He was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Wayne County, Tenn. He was a retired meat packer and the brother of the late Floyd White, Reba Brewer and Hester Clay.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce D. White; three sons, Greg White of Decatur and Terry White and Keith White, both of Savannah; one daughter, Pam Dowdy of Collierville, Tenn.; three brothers, Herschel White of Savannah, Ralph White of Florence and Tommy Jack White of Killen; four sisters, Myrtle Morris of Savannah, and Bedie Black, Marie Roberts and Dean Davis, all of Florence; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Berryman died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at his residence. He was born July 22, 1947, in Lawrence County, to Aaron Berryman and Lou Hatton Berryman. He was an electrician with Chrysler.
Survivors include his wife, Earline Williams Berryman; two daughters, Shannon Swann of Fulton, Miss., and Windie Bennett of Moulton; one brother, Aaron "Sonny" Berryman of Moulton; one sister, Mildred Herring of Spruce Pine.

Mrs. Dyar died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born July 19, 1911, in Lawrence County to Frank Letson and Flora Letson. Mrs. Dyar was a retired nurse. She was the widow of Claude Taylor Dyar and the mother of the late James Claude "Jimmy" Dyar.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Newsom of Decatur; one sister, Mamie Richardson of Hillsboro; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Nephews will be pallbearers.

Mr. McCurry died Tuesday Oct. 17, 2000, at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski, Tenn. He was born May 22, 1959, in Limestone County, to Leo McCurry and Naomi McCurry. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and employed by Roy Long Vinyl Siding.
Survivors include his parents of Lester; one son, Jeffery Wade McCurry of Pulaski; two brothers, Richard McCurry and Ronnie McCurry, both of Lester; seven sisters, Katherine Long of Anderson, Roberta Shickles of Decatur, Dimple Simpkins of Hartselle, Shelia Moore, Rosita Cobb and Marcheita Coleman, all of Athens, and Mary Ramsey of Lexington.

Mr. Adcock died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1908, in Winston County to Perry Oliver Adcock and Della Parker Adcock. At the start of World War II, he worked at a powder plant in Childersburg. He later was employed by DuPont in Oak Ridge, Tenn., assisting in the Manhattan Project. He farmed and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was the grandfather of the late Jeff Sandlin.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Adcock; two sons, Perry Adcock of Decatur and Charles Adcock of Birmingham; four daughters, Gail A. Sandlin of Fayetteville, Tenn., Wreatha A. Holmes and Elizabeth A. Clark, both of Hartselle, and Sylvia A. Kamp of Brandon, Fla.; one brother, Atley Adcock of Decatur; one sister, Laura Hadley of Hartselle; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
