Mr. Branic died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Macomb to Lindsay Branic and Hazel Irene Gallaher Branic. He was a retired supervisor and a member of Calvary Assembly of God and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mildred L. Branic; one son, Keith B. Branic of Painted Post, N.Y.; one daughter, Kathleen Ann Cannon of Lake Denton, Wis.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Coffman died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Lawrence County to Oscar and Viola Ogles. She moved to Limestone County when she was young. She was a homemaker and a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was the sister of two brothers, now deceased.
Survivors include her husband, Warren J. Coffman; and four daughters, Patricia Foster of Birmingham, Faith Barnes of Athens, Priscilla Nunnelee of Decatur and Pamela White of Taylor, Texas.

Mr. Nelson died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at home. He was born May 7, 1927, in Lawrence County to W.B. and Hattie Nelson. He owned Nelson Antiques and was a member of Moulton Church of God. He was the brother of the late Harrison Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Myrl Nelson; six sons, Marlon Nelson, Mark Nelson, Jim Nelson, Marvin Nelson and Timmy Nelson, all of Moulton, and Marlene Nelson Guttery of Centre; two brothers, Jack Nelson of Decatur and Tommy Nelson of Moulton; three sisters, Flossie Burns of Decatur, and Annie NeSmith and Ruth McCay, both of Moulton; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, John Rhea Nesmith of Florence; two daughters, Ann N. Waldrep and Esther N. Counts, both of Town Creek; one sister, Helen B. Leigh of Montgomery; five grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Burns died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at his home. He was born April 16, 1918, in Danville to Willie R. Burns and Molly Vinson Burns. He was a retired farmer and Grand Trunk Western Railroad employee. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the Transportation-Communications International Union and the AFL-CIO-CLC. He was the brother of the late Jewel Burns, Esther Clark and Vesta Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. Burns of Lansing; one son, Terrell "Terry" William Burns of Lansing; two daughters, Charlotte Anne Wade of Battle Creek and Karen Lynne Dettl of Houston; two brothers, Albert Burns of Decatur and Ottis Burns of Hartselle; four sisters, Lorene Miller of Camden, Tenn., Dorothy "Dottie" Reeves of Decatur, and Kathleen "Jackie" Long and Hazel Roberts, both of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Chauncey died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1907, in Pactolis, N.C. He was hired by J.C. Penney Co. in 1929. During his career with the company, he either worked at or managed Penney's stores in Kinston, Oxford and Goldsboro, N.C., Fredricksburg, Va., and Bridgeton and Salem, N.J. While in Salem, he was a member of the George Washington Masonic Lodge, and president of Salem Merchant and Members, Salem Chamber of Commerce. YMCA Board of Trustees and South Jersey Rotary Club. He retired from J.C. Penney Co. in 1968 and moved to Florida. He was Golf Champion at both Salem County Club and Bardmore Country Club and was a member of St. Lucie Country Club, Florida State Golf Association, Sun Coast Senior Golf Association, North Carolina Senior Golf Association and Grifton Country Club. He had made five holes-in-one, two of which were recorded in the Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, N.C. He was a member of Grifton United Methodist Church and the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was the widower of Grace Eader Chauncey.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula C. Rigler of Decatur and Carol C. Forwood of Belair, Md.; one brother, Carroll Chauncey of Mount Airy, N.C.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Childers died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton. He was born Sept. 19, 1916, in Morgan County to W.A. Childers and Suztiza Hall Childers. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He worked at Alabama Hosiery Mill, retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a member and deacon at Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Cullman. He was the grandfather of the late Chuckie Toner.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Childers; two daughters, Myra Brown Toner of Five Points, Tenn., and Brenda Brown Richards of Madison; and two sisters, Era Fisher and Dice Sutter, both of Nashville.

Mr. Chonka died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Exeter, Pa., to George Chonka and Mary Ferderko Chonka. He was a retired master sergeant and a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Air Force Sergeant Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4765 in Athens.

He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Town Creek and a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed by Steelcase in the Shipping and Receiving Department.
Survivors include his wife, Carletta King; three sons, Michael Tyrone King Jr. of Athens, Marqevias Brown of Hillsboro and DeVonte Young of Courtland; one stepson, Suntrez Murrah of Athens; his parents of Town Creek; four brothers, Ozzie King, James King and Curtis Orr, all of Town Creek, and Erkine Bolding of Courtland; four sisters, Susie King, Glenda Orr, Mattie Bolding and Jacida Simmons, all of Town Creek; and his grandmothers, Lucille King and Irene Hill, both of Town Creek.
