ATHENS -- Funeral for Hollis Kenneth Daws, 67, of Athens will be Monday at noon at Spry Funeral Home with Warren Glass and Dusty McLemore officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Daws died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born May 13, 1933, in Limestone County. He worked for Jerry's Auto Sales and served in the U.S. Army and Air Force. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Daws Tunstill of Athens; one son, Kenneth Daws of Kodiak, Alaska; one daughter, Shelia Roberts of Kodiak; one brother, D.W. Daws of Athens; two sisters, Shirley Hill of Athens and Peggy Wilhoite of Nashville; and four grandchildren.

Lucille Shoulders Fletcher
85, homemaker

Funeral for Lucille Shoulders Fletcher, 85, of Decatur will be Tuesday at noon at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. George Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 7 at Reynolds Funeral Home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Fletcher died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Lawrence County to William Shoulders and Margaret Jones Shoulders. She was a member of Westside Baptist, where she belonged to the Missionary Society and the Mothers Board.

Survivors include one son, Percy Lee King of Gary, Ind.; five daughters, Clara Bell Davis of Buffalo, N.Y., Gunese Steele and Roceil Carter, both of Decatur, and Johnnie Pearl McLin and Rosie Lee Hampton, both of Huntsville; 26 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Willie James Steele, Melvin McDaniel Jr., Lamarco McDaniel, Janadas McDaniel Sr., Montoya King, and Dennis Davis.

Elsie Ray Henderson
91, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Elsie Ray Henderson, 91, of Athens will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Lonnie Dale Mitchell officiating.

Burial will be in O'Neal Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 4 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Henderson died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at home. She was born Oct. 14, 1909, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Limestone Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Floyd Ray, Leonard Ray and Milton Ray, all of Athens; four daughters, Kathleen Tuck of Ardmore, Thelma Roberts of Decatur, and Betty Mae Tuck and Hazel Teague, both of Athens; two sisters, Louise Simpson of Florence and Opal Kelly of Huntsville; three brothers, Willard Brown of Athens, and Doris Brown and Curtis Brown, both of Winter Haven, Fla.; 42 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Berney Tuck, Shawn Ray, Danny Ray, Wayne Lang, James Windell Ray, Lenny Green Hall, David Teague and Pete Tuck.

Helen Frances Johnson
94, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Helen Frances Johnson, 94, of Tanner will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Havens officiating.

There will be no burial.

Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born June 10, 1906, in Tilton, Ill.

She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Hoffman of Tanner; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or church.

Frieda Gentry Laxton
66, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Frieda Gentry Laxton, 66, of Athens will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Seminole, Okla.

The family will receive friends today from 2 until 4 at Spry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laxton died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and volunteer at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Laxton; two sons, David Laxton of Live Oak, Fla., and Bobby Laxton of Athens; five sisters, Louise Holman of Madagoria, Texas, Mary Payne of Hominy, Okla., Nancy Barton of Columbus, Miss., Betty Henley of Huntsville and Dee Nelson of Los Angeles; and five grandchildren.

William H. Lewis
82, retired preacher

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Funeral for William H. Lewis, 82, of Murfreesboro will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Gary Patton and Jim Johnson officiating and Woodfin Memorial Chapel directing.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. The family will receive friends today from 2 until 4 at Jennings and Ayers.

Mr. Lewis died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Boulevard Terrace Nursing Home. He was born May 31, 1918, in Davidson County, Tenn., to George Lewis and Florence Lewis. He was a Church of Christ preacher for 50 years and retired in 1988 after preaching in Middle Tennessee, North Alabama, Indianapolis, Detroit and St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a member of Cason Lane Church of Christ in Murfreesboro. He was the brother of the late Lawrence Lewis, Benny Lewis, John P. Lewis, Gladys Hunter, Katherine Whitehurst and Della Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Truell Lewis; one daughter, Billie Patton of Decatur; two sons, John Robert Lewis of Decatur and David K. Lewis of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Josephine Hood Parker
65, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Josephine Hood Parker, 65, of Town Creek will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with Amos Hood and Steve Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Parker died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1935, in Lawrence County to Robert Herman Hood and Mable Johnson Hood.

Survivors include her husband, Barna Parker; two daughters, Judy McCreary and Debra Posey, both of Town Creek; her mother of Town Creek; five brothers, Robert Hood Jr., Curtis Hood, Harold Hood and Donald Hood, all of Town Creek and Edwin Hood of Moulton; one sister, Nadine Cameron of Mount Hope; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sean Masterson, Dexter Rutherford, Ben Phillips, Billy Frost, Carl Cameron and Jackie Hood.

Leldon Ethon Shelton
81, retired Decatur employee

Funeral for Leldon Ethon Shelton, 81, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Carlisle officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Shelton died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1919, in Lawrence County to John E. Shelton and Georgia Ann Terry Shelton. He worked for Decatur Iron and Steel in maintenance and at Point Mallard for the City of Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella Shelton; one son, Steven Shelton of Hartselle; one stepson, James Larry Terry of Elgin; one daughter, Kathy Shelton Westbrook of Decatur; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Bessie N. Armstrong
94, homemaker
ANNISTON -- Funeral for Bessie N. Armstrong, 94, of Anniston was Saturday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilburn Clark and the Rev. Darrell Zumalt officiating.

Burial was in Flintville Cemetery in Flintville, Tenn.

Mrs. Armstrong died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Anniston Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 23, 1906, in Chattooga County, Ga. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Calhoun County for 14 years. She was the widow of Bearl Clark and Rufus Armstrong, and the mother of the late Adrian Clark and Bernard Clark.

Survivors include four sons, Bobby Clark and Winford Clark, both of Decatur, Wilburn Clark of Hartselle and Dewey Clark of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Mary Thomas of Anniston and Coretha Powers of Decatur; one sister, Flora Mae Bagwell of Rome, Ga.; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael G. Clark, Perry Powers, Thomas "Tojo" Powers, Aaron Hammond, Philip Hopkins and David Yell.

Terry Jo 'T.J.' Barker
45, sheriff's deputy

Funeral for Terry Jo "T.J." Barker, 45, of Hartselle will be tonight at 7:30 at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Voss officiating.

Graveside service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Taylor Springs Cemetery in Guin. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 at the funeral home.

Ms. Barker died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Nov. 13, 1955, in Memphis to Joe Dill Barker and Bobby Crawford Barker. She was a deputy for the Morgan County Sheriff's Department and an officer with the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program in Morgan County Schools for five years. She was also the supervisor of communications. She joined the department in 1985 as a dispatcher and then became a patrol officer; she was promoted to sergeant in 1997. She was a member of the Girl Scouts, Guin United Methodist Church, Eastern Star Chapter 320 and FOP Lodge. She attended elementary school in Guin and was a graduate of Hamilton High School and Athens State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She attended Calvary Assembly of God.

Survivors include her parents of Hamilton; and one half sister, Katie Lou Barker Campi of Everett, Mass.

Pallbearers will be Mike Corley, Ron Hornbuckle, Bubby Price , Bobby Nethery, Bob Wilson and Mike Hudson.

Members of the Morgan County Sheriff's Department will be honorary pallbearers.

Jimmy Dean Bean
61, Athens resident

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Jimmy Dean Bean, 61, of Athens will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Long Acres Cemetery in Stevenson with the Rev. Bill Irby officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bean died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born May 25, 1939, in Jackson County to William Richard Bean and Alice Matthew Bean. He was a member of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include one brother, William Beene of Athens.

Elizabeth Marvene Blackard
65, day-care teacher

Funeral for Elizabeth Marvene Blackard, 65, of Trinity will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Union Nazarene Church in Pinedale with the Rev. Craig Carlisle officiating.

Burial will be in Union Nazarene Church Cemetery with United Funeral Service of New Albany, Miss., directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Shelton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blackard died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at Parkway Medical Center. She was born March 27, 1935, in Union County, Miss., to Jesse Garrett and Mae Gates Garrett. She was a day-care teacher and a member of Central Park Baptist Church. She was the sister of the late Gerald Garrett.

Survivors include her husband, Malcolm V. Blackard; two daughters, Teresa Blackard of Maryville, Tenn., and Jackie Vickery of Decatur; two brothers, J.P. Garrett and Ferrell Garrett, both of Etta, Miss.; and two grandsons.
