Funeral for Marjorie Favor Lawrence, 88, of Decatur will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Brooks Cargile Funeral Home in Montgomery with Phillip Black and Mike King officiating.

Burial will be in Green wood Cemetery in Montgomery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8:30 at Roselawn Funeral Home and

Friday for one hour before the service at Brooks Cargile Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lawrence died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Decatur. She was born Nov. 2, 1912, in Lowndes County to John Favor and Kate Harris Favor. A retired statistician for the Alabama State Teacher Retirement System, she was a member of Carriage Hills Church of Christ, Grant Street Church of Christ and Jefferson Davis Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was the widow of Vernon B. Lawrence Sr. and the sister of the late Joseph I. Favor.

Survivors include one son, Vernon B. Lawrence Jr. of Montgomery; one daughter, Polly Smith of Decatur; one brother, John Favor of Montgomery; two sisters, Mattie Laura Tymes and Mary Hicks, both of Montgomery; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ruth M. Sparks
88, homemaker

Funeral for Ruth M. Sparks, 88, of Decatur will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Brock officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sparks died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1912, in Trinity to David and Berta Mooney. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church. She was the widow of Houston Lee Sparks.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. David Lee Sparks of Houston and Gary Wayne Sparks of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Billy Mooney of Decatur; two sisters, Pat Craig of Morris and Grace Morris of Florence; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Deacons of Central Baptist Church will be pallbearers.

James Oscar Stroud
86, retired store operator

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Oscar Stroud, 86, of Wewahitchka, Fla., formerly of Athens, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Hubert Chittam and Bill Irby officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Stroud died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Fla. He was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Gilbertown. He was a retired store operator and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Stroud of Athens; one daughter, Ann Matlock of Wewahitchka; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Buford Franklin, Glenn Lowery, R.C. Ferguson, Tommy Woodruff, Carlos Black and Alvin Anderson.

Dramer Irene Summerford

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Dramer Irene Summerford, 63, of Eva will be Saturday at Lawrence Cove Baptist Church with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Summerford died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. Further arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.

Jack Thompson
95, farmer

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Jack Thompson, 95, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Alred officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Aug. 6, 1905, in Morgan County to James Bratch Thompson and Alice Virginia Drake Thompson. He was a farmer, a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include three nephews and three nieces.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Gandy, Allen Gandy, Tim Gandy, Don Rowe, Johnny Rowe and Chris Gandy.

Jarfean Chatman Sr.
52, General Shale employee

Funeral for Jarfean Chatman Sr., 52, of Valhermoso Springs will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church in Tallucah with the Rev. Gregory Draper officiating and Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Draper-Chatman Cemetery in Tallucah. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Chatman died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Tallucah to Gideon Chatman and Thelma Winton Chatman. He was a member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church and later joined Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. He was an employee of General Shale in Huntsville.

Survivors include his wife, Reezeler Chatman of Tallucah; two sons, David E. Chatman and Jarfean Chatman Jr., both of Tallucah; one daughter, Franzetta Jones of Valhermoso Springs; his mother; five sisters, Ezella McCombs and Roxie Draper, both of Columbus, Ohio, Airlean Berry of Jamaica, N.Y., Martha Horton of Huntsville, and Edith Edwards of Tallucah; three brothers, Anise Chatman and William Chatman, both of Columbus, Billy Chatman of Tallucah; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Sennell Chatman, Greg Chatman, Jashaun Campbell, Tommy Campbell, Calvin Jackson, and Bryan Looney.

Beverly Jane Clark

ATHENS -- Funeral for Beverly Jane Clark, 71, of Athens will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. James Swindle officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Clark died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born May 7, 1929, in Austin, Texas. She was retired from Burr-Brown in Tucson, Ariz.

Survivors include four sons, Norman Clark of Chicago, Ill., Tom Clark of Hartselle, Terry Clark of Athens and Rick Clark of Wasilla, Alaska; four daughters, Julie Nosko of North Pole, Alaska, and Susan Murphy, Sandra Adams and Chris Boone, all of Athens; one sister, Evelyn Breeze of California; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Gaddy died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1957, in Thomasville. He was an employee of International Paper Co. in Courtland.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Green Gaddy; three daughters, Crystal Marie Gaddy of Demopolis, Clara Necole Lowery of Mobile and Randi LeAnn Gaddy of Georgia; two stepsons, David Holden Benefield of Killen and Wilkinson Shane Benefield of Flintville, Tenn.; his mother, Clara Gaddy of Thomasville; two sisters, Sedera Simms of Pinehill and Sabrina Gaddy of Birmingham; and three grandchildren.

Robert Buren Jackson

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Robert Buren Jackson, 66, of Athens, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery with Joey Curtis, Dwight Ridinger and Don Davis officiating.

Mr. Jackson died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1934, in Limestone County. He was a retired circulation manager for THE DECATUR DAILY and was a volunteer bailiff for the City of Athens. He was a member of Seven Mile Post Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn B. Jackson; one son, Rick Jackson of Huntsville; two daughters, Debbie Lovell and Wilma Ulrich, both of Athens; one stepson, Billy Ray Russell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Teresa Cullen of Colorado Springs and Lisa Russell of Athens; two sisters, Ruth Legg of Athens and Mary Clardy of Marietta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mr. Pruitt was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Gadsden to Clarence Pruitt and Mary Ila Pruitt.

Survivors include one son, Rich Pruitt of Madison; two daughters, Kim Pruitt of Madison and Paige Ponder of Trinity; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Thomas Watson of Decatur; one daughter, Laura Carroll of Decatur; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
