ATHENS -- Funeral for William Lonnie Fugate, 82, of Athens will be today at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Aaron Johnson officiating.
Burial will be Mount Zion Cemetery in Monrovia with McConnell Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Fugate died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1918, in Knox County, Mo., to James Fugate and Myrtle May Gregory Fugate. He graduated from the University of Texas in El Paso and retired as a mining engineer in Green River, Wyo. He moved to Limestone County in 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church, AARP and RSVP. He was the father of the late Gregory Fugate.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Fugate; one daughter, Susan Newsom of Memphis; one brother, Ben Fugate of Montpelier, Ind.; two sisters, Eva McConnell of La Plata, Mo., and Barbara Dean of San Antonio; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Johnson, Lindsey Burgreen, Mike Hays, Ricky Burgreen, Charles Hopson and Willard Sherrod.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or a favorite charity.

Mrs. Hill died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Lawrence County to Marvin and Lois Newton. She was a member of Roundtop Community Church and worked in the school cafeteria at Falkville.
Survivors include two sons, Hubert Wayne Hill of Battleground and Jeff Hill of Danville; five daughters, Barbara Burnham and Bonnie Griffith, both of Falkville, Connie Moore of Vinemont, Tammy Bates of Fyffe and Pam Allen of Michigan; one brother, James Newton of Vinemont; one sister, Pauleen Holloway of Tallassee; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Roberson died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Courtland. She was born April 17, 1923, in Courtland to Elbert Crow and Jetta Martin Crow. She was a member of Moulton Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society and NARFE. She was the assistant postmaster at the Moulton branch of the U.S. Postal Service and the widow of Harvey C. Roberson.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Roberson of Mobile and Jon Roberson of Los Angeles; three daughters, Sandra Ferguson of Leighton, Linda Stephenson of Southside and Ellen Roberson of Atlanta; three sisters, Lela Hunnicutt of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Hazel Halbrooks of Louisville, Ky., and Mary Ellen Sharrott of Hartselle; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was a retired auto body repairman and a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was the brother of the late Hillard Carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Carpenter; one daughter, Kelley Carpenter of Town Creek; one brother, Clayton Carpenter of Town Creek; two sisters, Frances Thompson of Birmingham and Brenda Preston of Kansas City, Mo.
