ATHENS -- Funeral for Robert Harold Gilbert, 90, of Athens was to be today at 10 a.m. at Riddle's Chapel United Methodist Church with Bryan McIntyre, John Clotfelter and Herman Marks officiating.
Burial was to be in Ripley Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Gilbert died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Athens Convalescent Center. He was born July 4, 1910, in Limestone County to Roy and Mae Gilbert. He was the former owner and operator of Gilbert Earthmoving Co. and a former Athens-Limestone Hospital board member. He was a member of Riddle's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Gilbert; two sons, Bobby Gilbert and Lynn Gilbert, both of Athens; one daughter, Kay Hester of Athens; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Riddle's Chapel United Methodist Church building fund.
Doris Laverne Miller

ATHENS -- Funeral for Doris Laverne Miller, 70, of Athens will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Doyle Graham officiating.
Burial will be in Cerulean Cemetery in Cerulean, Ky., on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Miller died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Old Hickory, Tenn., to Gordon Stewart and Lillie Hopper Stewart. She was a retired clothing inspector and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Mike Miller of Athens, Asa Miller of Clarksville, Tenn., Carl S. Miller of Lexington, Ky., and Joseph K. Miller and Martin Eric Miller, both of Dover, Tenn.; one daughter, Debbie Laverne Scott of Clarksville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deacons of Southside Baptist Church will be pallbearers.

Mr. Morris died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home. He was born May 9, 1927, in Lawrence County to Lawrence Morris and Versie Parker Morris. He was a farmer and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army's Calvary Division. He retired as a truck driver after 24 years from Empire Gas, and owned and operated Percy Morris General Merchandise in Wheeler for 22 years. He was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Terry Morris; three sons, Ricky Morris of Courtland, and Ralph Morris and Roger Morris, both of Hillsboro; four brothers, Pelmar Morris of Hillsboro, Pete Morris of Spring Hill, Fl., and Phillip Morris and Prentis Morris, both of Courtland; one sister, Minnie Letson of Hillsboro; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Morris, Kenny Reding, Ambrey Reding, Ted Reynolds, Marlon Morris, Dennis Brackin and Ralph Terry Jr.
John 'Daddy John' Norman

ROCKWOOD, Tenn. -- Funeral for John Joseph "Daddy John" Norman, 83, of Trinity will be Thursday at Evans Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus Lipscomb officiating.
Burial will be in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Rockwood. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Norman died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born May 15, 1917, in Rockwood to Samuel Norman and Kate Norman. He was a retired painter and the widower of Lillian Norman. He was the stepfather of Jack Richardson and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Dean Norman of Rockwood; one daughter, Tina Peden of Trinity; one stepson, Gene Richardson of Rockwood; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mr. Rock died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home. He was retired from General Motors. He coached Little League baseball for many years. He was the widower of Lenis Waugh Howard Rock and the brother of Harold Atwell, Willard Atwell and Edna Hanner.
Survivors include six sons, Dr. Stanley Rock Jr., Donald Rock, James Rock, Edward Rock, Robert Rock and Danny Rock, all of Michigan; two sisters, Ethel Goeller and Florence Floyd, both of Michigan; two stepsons, Avery Howard of Decatur and Dwaine Howard of Hartselle; two stepdaughters, Willene Curbow of Falkville and Clara Boyer of Hartselle; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Teague died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Montgomery. He was born June 8, 1924, in Birmingham. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Italy, North Africa and the Balkans; a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers; and he helped investigate the Challenger shuttle disaster as an employee of Rockwell in Huntsville. He was an avid golfer and a frequent volunteer starter at Decatur area golf courses.
Survivors include one son, Eric C. Teague of Prattville; one daughter, Julie Teague Maly of Gulf Shores; two brothers, Ralph E. Teague Sr. of Decatur and Herbert Teague of Birmingham; and one granddaughter.

Mr. Whitehead died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at his home. He was born June 1, 1928, in Lauderdale County to Thurston Whitehead and Clara Whitehead. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority and was a member of Steamfitters Local No. 760. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the brother of Hildred Jones and Sybil Blankenship.
