HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Luther Raymond "Ray" Jenkins, 80, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Estus L. Hardin officiating.
Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Jenkins died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 7, 1920, in Lawrence County to Joe Jenkins and Lucy Belle Stillers Jenkins. He was a retired team leader at Willo Products and a member of Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ibra Jenkins; three sons, Robert R. Jenkins and James K. "Bill" Jenkins, both of Decatur, and John R. "Ricky" Jenkins of Hartselle; one sister, Clezelle Woodall of Hartselle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.
Carl Ray Patterson
57, Fruehauf retiree
ATHENS -- Funeral for Carl Ray Patterson, 57, of Somerville was to be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Patterson officiating.
Burial was to be in Hurricane Cemetery.
Mr. Patterson died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1943, in Lauderdale County to Oleta Patterson. He retired as a roll mill operator from Fruehauf and was the father of the late Brad Patterson.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Burnett of Rogersville and Karla Wilson of Somerville; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Middlebrooks, James Moses, Ernie Moses, Noodie Yates, Donald Reeves, Larry Gatlin, Troy Gatlin and Joel Wilson.
Donald Raymond Surovich
66, retired electrician
ATHENS -- Funeral for Donald Raymond Surovich, 66, of Elkmont will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. David Stidham officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Surovich died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born June 25, 1934, in Ehrenfield, Pa., to Felix and Helen Surovich. He was a retired electrician and a resident of the Cross Key community since 1963.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Surovich; two sons, Rickie Surovich of Frisco City and Terry Surovich of Loxley; one daughter, Shearie Woods of Athens; two brothers, James Surovich of Leominster, Mass., and Eugene Surovich of DePew, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Surovich, Stan Woods, Royce Cooper, Barry Adams, Barry Bullard and J.D. Bullard.
Wallace E. 'Gene' Teague
76, marine engineer
BIRMINGHAM -- Graveside service for Wallace E. "Gene" Teague, 76, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery with Johns Ridout's Funeral Home Elmwood Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Teague died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, in Montgomery. He was born June 8, 1924, in Birmingham. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Italy, North Africa and the Balkans. He was a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and he helped investigate the Challenger shuttle disaster as an employee of Rockwell in Huntsville. He was an avid golfer and a frequent volunteer starter at Decatur area golf courses.
Survivors include one son, Eric C. Teague of Prattville; one daughter, Julie Teague Maly of Gulf Shores; two brothers, Ralph E. Teague Sr. of Decatur and Herbert Teague of Birmingham; and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Harold S. Biggs
86, computer programmer
ANNISTON -- Funeral for Harold S. Biggs, 86, of Talladega will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bynum United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Lyles officiating.
Entombment will be in Forestlawn Mausoleum with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Biggs died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Citizens Baptist Hospital in Talladega. He was born Sept. 9, 1915, in Illinois to Aubrey Biggs and Natalie Stein Biggs. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a computer programmer at Anniston Army Depot. He was a member of Bynum United Methodist Church and served in several church offices.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Biggs; three sons, Harold Biggs Jr., of Decatur, James Biggs of Bynum and William Biggs of Burnsville, Minn.; two daughters, Charlotte Cavanaugh of Marietta, Ga., and Cathy Tucker of Eufaula; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Sons and grandsons will be pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Bynum United Methodist Church.
David Albert Gullion

Mr. Gullion died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 22, 1950, in Morgan County to Roy Almon Gullion and Lillian Mayfield Gullion. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Falkville Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 10774. He was a truck driver for 15 years and a forklift driver for J.I.T. Supplier Mall. He was the brother of the late Gearldean Gullion.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Sheats Robinson Gullion; his parents of Hartselle; three daughters, Jennifer Newell, Cary Owens and Amy Lacy, all of Hartselle; two stepsons, Rex Robinson of Florida and Brian Robinson of Falkville; two stepdaughters, Brandy Robinson and Heather Robinson, both of Falkville; three brothers, Jerry Gullion, Larry Gullion and Ronald Gullion, all of Hartselle; one sister, Carol Wilbanks of Hartselle; and five grandsons.

Mr. Hughes died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born May 14, 1911, in Morgan County to James Martin Hughes and Demaris "Mae" Shirley Hughes. Before retirement, he worked at Ingalls Shipyard, for the Decatur City School system and as a salesman at Wyker Hardware. He was a 31-year member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a member of the Nunn-Oden Masonic Lodge in Hartselle.
Survivors include his wife, Odessa Russell Hughes; two daughters, Demaris Ann Johnson of Decatur and Janet L. Smith of Rossville, Ga.; one brother, Edward Myrl Hughes of Decatur; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Richard Shaw, Jerry Brandon Smith, James R. Milans, Jeff Speegle, Jerel Keith Goolesby, Eugene Keenum, Frank Davis and Max Jordan.

Mrs. McCleskey died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Morgan County to Floyd William McCleskey and Maudie Elizabeth Pitt McCleskey. He was a retired ship fitter for Ingalls Iron Works and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Marie Bullard McCleskey.
Survivors include two sons, Danny McCleskey of Hartselle and Randal McCleskey of Danville; one daughter, Nancy McCleskey Tull of Nashville; one sister, Beatrice Ryan of Hartselle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Pack died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was born April 23, 1914, in Limestone County to Ruben Pack and Mattie Green Pack. He was a former employee of Louisville Stone and retired as a maintenance worker with the Jefferson County Kentucky Board of Education. He also was a former member of Cary Baptist Church of Athens. He was the widower of Ruby Inez Pack.
Survivors include one son, the Rev. Bill Pack of Decatur; one daughter, Glenda Sue Fuqua of Shepherdsville, Ky.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Ottis Siniard
70, retired Air Force sergeant and cabinetmaker

Mr. Siniard died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Lauderdale County to Odie and Ruby Ridinger Siniard. He was a retired U.S. Air Force sergeant, who served in the Korean War. He was a cabinetmaker and a member of Salem Springs Baptist Church. He was the brother of the late Thomas Siniard.
Survivors include his wife, Myra Siniard; three sons, Jimmy Siniard of Minor Hill, and Mike Siniard and Alan Siniard, both of Pulaski, Tenn.; two daughters, Debbie Flynn of Pulaski and Sheri Thompson of Minor Hill; five brothers, Harvey Siniard of Athens, Kenneth Siniard of Williams, Ind., and Earl Siniard, Johnny Siniard and Marcus Siniard, all of Ellettsville, Ind.
Genia Horton Tidwell

Mrs. Tidwell died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at El Reposo Nursing Home in the Green hill community. She was born April 4, 1910, in Blount County to Joseph Horton and Minnie Dandridge Horton, and retired as secretary of the Building Trades Council and Tri-Cities Central Labor Union. She was the widow of James Howard Tidwell, and the sister of the late Howell Horton, Fred Horton, Harold Horton and Ruby Still.
Survivors include one son, Bob Tidwell of Decatur; four daughters, Jo-Nell Guyton of Rosenberg, Texas, Nancy Newton of Killen, Sarah Mardis of Springdale, Ark., and Minnie Manchego of Santa Fe, N.M.; three sisters, Ruth Jett of Hayden, Elizabeth Reese of Marbury, and Louvenia Letcher of Birmingham; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Bates died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Anderson Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Bates of Athens and Ronnie Bates of Florence; two daughters, Barbara Delaney of Athens and Sandra Glass of Anderson; two brothers, Billy Jackson of Anderson and Bobby Jackson of Athens; three sisters, Treva Brown, Lois Fain and Ruby Jean Green , all of Athens; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
