HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Eva Florine Bradberry, 90, of Decatur will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Scotty Hogan and the Rev. James Chitwood officiating.

Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bradberry died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born July 14, 1910, in Morgan County to Lonzo O. Summerford and Geneva Myrtle Henry Summerford. She was a homemaker and member of Westmeade Baptist Church in Decatur. She was the widow of Alton Audy Bradberry.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Hill of Trinity, Jo Barnette of Decatur and Kathleen Pait of Hartselle; one brother, Orlo Summerford of Falkville; one sister, Jewel Holaway of Falkville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Wright, Tim Barnette, Jason Kilimas, Michael Hill, Jerome Hill and Dan Copeland.

Carl 'Shorty' Clifton
73, Amoco retiree

Funeral for Carl "Shorty" Clifton, 73, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Smothers and Dr. Harold Fanning officiating.

Burial was to be in Burningtree Cemetery.

Mr. Clifton died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to William Henry Clifton and Vadie Busby Clifton. He was retired from Amoco and was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Cook Clifton; one son, Jerry Clifton of Decatur; two daughters, Barbara Clifton Hays and Carla Clifton Raines, both of Hartselle; five brothers, Paulie Clifton and Vernon Clifton, both of Decatur, Bobby Clifton of Shalimar, Fla., Hershel Clifton of Ladson, S.C., and Charles Clifton of Nicholson, Ga.; two sisters, Thelma Mast of Decatur and Martha Bradford of Kerman, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were to be Jonathan Clifton, Todd Raines, Austin Gillespie, Shane Hays, Dale Higdon and Ron Moreno.

Memorials may be made to the Shoal Creek Baptist Church building fund.

Vera 'Nina' Swann Hall

Funeral for Vera "Nina" Swann Hall, 78, of Decatur will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Priceville Funeral Home with the Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating.

Burial will be in Shoal Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hall died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Priceville to Ollie Lee Swann and Lillie Geneva Swann Pruitt. She attended Shoal Creek Baptist and Austinville Baptist churches. A homemaker, she was the widow of Belton C. Hall, mother of Rickey Quinn Hall and Roger Glenn Hall, sister of Clarence "Towhead" Swann, Clifton Swann, Bessie Ogle, Mae Coley and Edna Swann. She was raised in Priceville and attended Old Somerville School and Priceville School.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickey Lynn Hall of Somerville and Velma Gwen Hall of Columbia, Tenn.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; three step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lowell Starr, Rickey Bradley, L.C. Hall, Stanley McBride, Robert Frazier, Carl Bradley Jr., Tracy Buckley and Wayne Johnson.

Joseph Edward Lawrence
94, retired farmer

ARAB -- Funeral for Joseph Edward Lawrence, 94, of Morgan City will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rescue Methodist Church with the Rev. Eldridge Crisco officiating.

Burial will be in Rescue Cemetery with Gober Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Lawrence died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Marshall Medical Center North. He was born Jan. 21, 1906, in Morgan County to Joe Lawrence and Lydia Whisenant Lawrence. He was a retired farmer and a member of Rescue Methodist Church. He was the widower of Onie Yancey Lawrence.

Survivors include three sons, James Edward Lawrence of Michigan, and J.C. Lawrence and Joe Lawrence, both of Morgan City; two daughters, Kathryn Whisenant and Francine Edwards, both of Morgan City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Hazel Lawrence
64, retired nurse

Funeral for Hazel Lawrence, 64, of Decatur will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Smothers and Rev. Greg Standridge officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Shelton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lawrence died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2000 at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1936, in Morgan County to Harold Hollis Lee and Rebecca Britten Lee. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of New Friendship Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Dean Lawrence; two sons, Bobby Dean Lawrence Jr. and James Robert Lawrence, both of Decatur; one daughter, Shelia A. Young of Hartselle; one brother, Donald Ray Lee of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Pettey, Todd Collins, Carl Muzzy, Nathan Lawrence, Barry Wallace and Dewayne Young.

Michael Gregory McClendon Jr.
4 months

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Michael Gregory McClendon Jr., 4 months, of Falkville will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Pitts officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

The infant died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Aug. 25, 2000, in Morgan County to Michael Gregory McClendon and Hope Dawn McClendon.

Survivors include his parents of Falkville; two sisters, Brittany Bell McClendon and Nicole Lynn McClendon, both of Falkville; his grandparents, Mable and Redus McClendon and Marlin and Robinson Henderson, all of Hartselle, and Charles Lewis of Terra Alta, W. Va.; his great-grandparents, Robert Barto of Somerville, Liz Frazee of Terra Alta and Clarence Lewis of Falkville.

Pallbearers will be Doyne Barto, Daniel Henderson, Charles Lewis and Charles R. Lewis.

Kendra Stinson Miller

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Kendra Stinson Miller, 25, of Falkville will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Spirit Life Church in Cullman with the Rev. Andrew Baugh and the Rev. Tim Kenney officiating.

Burial will be in Cook Cemetery in Falkville with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Miller died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Dec. 31, 1975, in Morgan County to Jeffrey Kendall Stinson and Patrice DeeAnn Steed Brandon. She was a 1994 graduate of Falkville High School and a pharmacy technician at Woodland Pharmacy in Cullman.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip Miller; one daughter, McKendree DeAnn Miller of Falkville; her father of Falkville; her mother of Scottsboro; her stepmother, Sherry Stinson of Falkville; two brothers, Brent Stinson of Falkville and Bradley Scott of Scottsboro; her grandparents, Daisy Steed of Pensacola, Fla., Lester and Jeanette Stinson of Falkville, and Patrick Steed of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be Kevin England, Matthew Long, Heath Previtt, Bradley Scott, Eric Stinson, David Zuccalla and Troy Zuccalla.

Hubert Reed
66, retired plant worker

Funeral for Hubert Reed, 66, of Decatur will be Saturday at noon at David Temple Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Hosea Garrett officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at 909 Fifth Ave. S.W. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Reed died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 18, 1934, in Decatur to John Henry Reed and Laura Mae Randolph Reed. He was a retired plant worker.

Survivors include four sons, Tommy Reed of Detroit, Mich., Cornelius Reed and Lawrence Cooper, both of Decatur, and Michael Cooper of Town Creek; one daughter, Anita McCalley of Town Creek; four sisters, Laura Lyle, Sue Reed and Sarah McClendon, all of Decatur, and Debra Willingham of Town Creek; his stepmother, Mattie Reed of Decatur; and 10 grandchildren.

Catherine Frances Self

Mrs. Self died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at a local hospital. She was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Rutherford County. She was a homemaker and a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Phillip Lynn Self.

Survivors include her husband, Bradley Clay Self; three sons, Allen Self of Madison, Bill Self of Huntsville and Jerry Self of Lynnville, Tenn.; three daughters, Ramona Evans of Cullman and Frances Mansell and Jane Paysinger, both of Athens; two brothers, Virgil Pope of Prospect, Tenn., and Vernon Pope of Minor Hill, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tate died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 25, 1907, in Gattman to James Harvey Easter and Alice Morrow Easter. A lifelong resident of Monroe County, Miss., she had lived in Sipsey Fork since 1938. She was a homemaker and a member of New Center Point Free Will Baptist Church. She was the widow of Ausie Ralph Tate and the sister of Alvin Easter, Curtis Easter, Earlie Easter and Kelly Easter.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Tate of Green wood Springs and Harold Tate of Decatur; three daughters, Joyce Berryhill and Carol Duncan, both of Green wood Springs, and Shirley Bowen of Aberdeen; one sister, Laverne Ling of Sulligent; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tim Tate, Chris Tate, David Berryhill, Dustin Burnett, Don Moore and Mike Yielding.

Ester Alexander Compton

Mrs. Davie died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 22, 1913, in Pine Hill to David C. Pruitt and Bertha Miller Pruitt. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was a hospital dietitian. She was the widow of Earl E. Davie Sr.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Dong of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; one sister, Alba P. Chenault of Decatur; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
