ATHENS -- Funeral for Willie Green Meredith, 88, of Athens will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. K.C. Poole officiating.
Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Meredith died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at his home. He was born July 30, 1911, in Limestone County. He was a retired machine operator from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He was a member of Green brier Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Meredith; one son, Wilson Gene Meredith of Holland, Mich.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Walter Fred Miller Jr.

ATHENS -- Walter Fred Miller Jr., 72, of Athens died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at his home, according to Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Florence. He was a retired Tennessee Valley Authority employee.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Miller; one stepson, Wallace Ray Swaim of Athens; four stepdaughters, Martha Culberson, Linda Clemons, both of Florence, Dana Baker of Athens and Kelley Goodman of Lacey's Spring; two sisters, Dorothy Knox and Alma Miller, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 12 step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Thompson died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Shoals Nursing Home. She was born March 27, 1901, in Franklin County. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Millard Franklin Hall of Town Creek; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 11 great- great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Anderson died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at her daughter's home in Decatur. She was born Nov. 16, 1916, in Piedmont to Jabe Curry Nabors and Emma Davis Nabors. She was retired from the pharmacy at Piedmont Hospital, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Piedmont and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one daughter, Sue Anderson Murphree of Decatur; one brother, Jabe C. Nabors of Redlands, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stan Anderson, Morris Anderson, Scott Anderson, Mallory Horton, Randy Horton, Samuel Horton, Jabe Horton and Roy Formby.

Mr. Coggin died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Limestone County. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens and the Football Hall of Fame at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a coach and teacher at Middle Georgia Junior College in Cochran, Ga., and coached at Buckhorn High School in Madison County. He played for the Boston Red Sox in the 1950s and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was the father of the late Sherry Coggin.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Coggin; four sons, Perry Coggin of Columbia, Miss., Gary Coggin of Vero Beach, Fla., Terry Coggin of Houston, Miss., and Randy Malone of Oxford, Miss.; one daughter, Shirley Stringfellow of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Players from the 1963-64 Buckhorn High School football team will be pallbearers.
Members of the Fred Banks Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Athens will be honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Cribbs died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1956, in Limestone County. He was a commercial truck driver.
He is survived by one son, Brandon Dale Cribbs of Cullman; one daughter, Misty Nicole Cribbs of Cullman; his mother, Clara Cribbs of Athens; one brother, Lamon Cribbs of Athens; and two sisters, Sue Schrimsher and Charlotte Cottles, both of Athens.

Mrs. Gray died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born April 10, 1920, in Huntsville. She was a homemaker, attended Clements Baptist Church and lived in Limestone County most of her life. She was the widow of George A. Gray Sr.
She is survived by one son, George A. Gray Jr. of Englehard, N.C.; three daughters, Carol Ann Jeffery and Becky Miller, both of Mobile, and Bess Soper of Bluffton, S.C.; one brother, William Richard Hay of Huntsville; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Harrison died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Rohr Nursing Home in Bartow. She was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Anderson. A former Athens resident, she was a homemaker and a member of Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James Cloyce Harrison; one son, Lavaughn Gladney of Five Points, Tenn.; one daughter, Lanita Dover of Bartow; two stepsons, Cecil Jackson and Royce Jackson, both of Bartow; five stepdaughters, Barbara Chauncey, Hilda King, Jeanette Duke and Merlene Griner, all of Bartow, and Connie Cantrell of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Rosella Roper of Auburndale, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hobbs died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, in St. Petersburg. She was born April 22, 1901, in Rogersville. She was a homemaker and a member of Market Street Church of Christ. She lived in Athens most of her life and moved to St. Petersburg about three years ago.
She is survived by two daughters, Gladys Hodges of St. Petersburg and Dorothy Richter of Rogersville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Howard, Tony Leopard, David Steinhauser, Edward Steinhauser, Al Steinhauser and Mike Cooper.
