FRESNO, Calif. -- Memorial service for Kenneth "Chris" Lomen Jr., 54, of Fresno was Sept. 10 at Northwest Church Chapel with the Neptune Society directing.

Mr. Lomen died Sept. 6, 1999, in California. He was born July 28, 1945, in Washington to Katherine "Kit" Timberlake Lomen, formerly of Decatur, and Kenneth Christian Lomen. He was a sales representative for Renaissance General Restoration Contracting. He has relatives living in Decatur.

He is survived by his wife, Terri Lomen; three daughters, Kristen Lomen, Katie Lomen and Kelly Lomen, all of Fresno; and one sister, Kimberly Lomen of Fresno.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Rosemary Priest

Funeral arrangements for Rosemary Priest, 45, of Texas, formerly of Decatur, who died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, in Texas, will be announced by Sharpley Funeral Home.

Eunice C. Rhodes
83, administrative assistant

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Funeral for Eunice C. Rhodes, 83, of Tallahassee will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cully's Meadow Wood Funeral Home's Riggins Road Chapel.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rhodes died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in Tallahassee. She was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Tallahassee, where she was a lifelong resident. She was an administrative assistant with the Florida Public Service Commission and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was an Elkette, attended Florida State University and graduated from Campbells Business College in Dothan.

She is survived by one daughter, JoEllen Achenbach of Decatur; one brother, Bernard Harrison of Wisconsin; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Hodge Skeldon

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Hodge Skeldon, 53, of Athens, who died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at his home, will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

William Hunter Staggs
78, retired laborer

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for William Hunter Staggs, 78, of Town Creek was to be today at 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Smith and the Rev. Scottie Letson officiating.

Burial was to be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Staggs died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at his home. He was born May 2, 1921, in Colbert County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a laborer retired from Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. He was a member of Labor Local No. 366 and Abby Baptist Church. He was father of the late Dorothy Staggs.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mattie Staggs; three daughters, Mattie Grissom of Decatur, Darlene Dutton of Town Creek and Barbara Stewart of Hillsboro; one brother, Claude Staggs of Leighton; two sisters, Jeannette Norton of Sheffield and Alfie Kilburn of Missouri; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-step-granddaughter.

Pallbearers were to be Dale Garrison, Rufus Staggs, Lyndon Staggs, Gene Clayton, Tony Dutton and Sid Reding.

Albert Steve 'Tiny' Turner
43, Athens resident

ATHENS -- Funeral for Albert Steve "Tiny" Turner, 43, of Athens will be Friday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Inman officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Turner died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at his home. He was born June 2, 1956, in Athens. He was a lifelong resident of Limestone County, was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and attended Tanner High School and East Limestone High School.

He is survived by one sister, Judy Head of Athens.

Robert Vernon Barnett Jr.
80, cattle farmer
ATHENS -- Funeral for Robert Vernon Barnett Jr., 80, of Rogersville was to be today at 2 p.m. at Rogersville Church of Christ with Windell Gann officiating. Burial was to be in Miller Cemetery with Spry FuneralHome directing.

Mr. Barnett died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at his home. He was born June 14, 1919, in Lauderdale County. He was a member of the Church of Christ since 1949 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Reynolds Metal Co. after 30½ years. He was a member of Machinist Local No. 11 of Sheffield. He was a cattle farmer and a member of the Lauderdale County Cattlemen's Association.

He is survived by his wife, Alta Snoddy Barnett; one son, Archie Eugene Barnett of Athens; one daughter, Barbara Cornelius of Rogersville; one sister, Catherine Louise White of Rogersville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Rogersville Church of Christ or Hospice.

Finest Coleman
69, TVA retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Finest Coleman, 69, of Athens will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Gaines officiating.

Burial will be in Maples Cemetery with People's Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Coleman died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Limestone County. He was retired from TVA, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by three sons, Joe Smith of Nashville, Stephen Mosely of Columbus, Ohio, and Cedric Henderson of Athens; one daughter, Addie O'Neal of Rockford, Ill.; his father, Joe Coleman of Athens; three brothers, Willie Coleman and Rivers Coleman, both of Athens, and Oliver Coleman of Nashville; one sister, Addie Davis of Athens; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ricky Dale Cribbs

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Ricky Dale Cribbs, 33, of Tanner, who died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at his home, will be announced by Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

L.G. 'Sarge' Fairbanks Sr.
65, U.S. Army retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for L.G. "Sarge" Fairbanks Sr., 65, of Decatur was to be today at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Alman Dennard officiating.

Burial will be in Bottoms Cemetery.

Mr. Fairbanks died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at his home. He was born Aug. 3, 1934, in Lauderdale County. He was a resident of Limestone County for most of his life. He retired as an electrician from Brown and Root Construction, Inc., in Houston, Texas, and he retired from the U.S. Army after 23 1/2 years of service.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a Prisoner of War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was the father of the late Curtis Wayne Fairbanks. He previously was married to the late Estelle Clark Fairbanks.

He is survived by his wife, Willie J. Weatherly Fairbanks of Townsend, Tenn.; two sons, Larry Gene Fairbanks Jr. of Grant, and Timothy Brian Fairbanks of Decatur; two daughters, Karen Fairbanks Webb of Oak Grove, La., and Joyce Fairbanks Holmes of Decatur; his parents, Walter Fairbanks and Thelma Bunn Fairbanks of Shephard, Texas; three brothers, Carl Fairbanks, W.T. Fairbanks, both of Decatur, and Ottis Fairbanks of Tennessee; seven sisters, Kathy Thompson, Judy Elliott, both of Rusk, Texas, Betty Hardiman, Brinda Blagburn, both of Priceville, Doris Keen of Shepard, Texas, Maggie Kaney of Alexander City and Pat Elliott of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Gene Fairbanks Jr., Timothy Brian Fairbanks, Thomas Jason Hood, W.T. Fairbanks, Carl Gene Fairbanks and Ottis Paul Fairbanks.

Mattie Leen McElroy
80, quilter

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mattie Leen McElroy, 80, of Moulton will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Strickland and the Rev. Jackie Shelton officiating.

Burial will be in Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Mrs. McElroy died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Lawrence County to Joe and Lenna Fleming. She was a homemaker, a quilter and a member of Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Lyndon McElroy and the mother of the late Jimmy McElroy.

She is survived by six sons, Hayward McElroy and Johnny McElroy, both of Decatur, Bobby McElroy and Kenneth McElroy, both of Hatton, and Avery McElroy and Ronnie McElroy, both of Moutlon; two daughters, Joyce Terry and Gail Campbell, both of Hatton; three brothers, Franklin Fleming of Houlka, Miss., Orman Fleming of Phil Campbell and Hershel Fleming of Russellville; one sister, Katherine Scifa of Duvall Bluff, Ark.; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

Marvin 'Dewayne' Shelton
54, former maintenance worker

TRINITY -- Funeral for Marvin "Dewayne" Shelton, 54, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Nesmith officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Shelton died Monday, Oct. 5, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 25, 1944, in Lawrence County. He was a former maintenance worker for the Decatur City Board of Education.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ann Shelton; one daughter, Tina Shelton of Decatur; one stepson, Danney Morgan of Decatur; four stepdaughters, Donna Ledlow, Rita Mills and Sarah Laymon, all of Decatur, and Linda Harris of Collinwood, Tenn.; his father, George Edward Shelton of Decatur; his mother, Audrey Smith of Decatur; one brother, Gary Shelton of Trinity; one sister, Joann Cottingham of Decatur; two half-brothers, Eldon Shelton of Trinity and Ricky Shelton of Decatur; one half-sister, Diane Shelton of Decatur; one granddaughter; and 14 step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Cottingham, Rodney Cottingham, Joey Cottingham, Tony Brannon, Tim Mills and Danney Morgan.
