HARTSELLE -- Funeral for George Thomas Kirby, 68, of Danville will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Joey Coots officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Kirby died Saturday, October 16, 1999, at his home. He was born April 7, 1931, in Morgan County to Percy Kyle Kirby and Ida Matilda Kirby. He was a route salesman retired from Empire Gas Co. and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Inez Kirby; two sons, Thomas Lamar Kirby of Hartselle and Lewis Edward "Eddy" Kirby of Hillsboro; three daughters, Sandra Gail Kirby Milam of Hartselle, Sue Ann Kirby Chapman of Birmingham and Wanda Faye Kirby Patterson of Hartselle; one brother, Joe Kirby of Arab; two sisters, Faye Kirby Bradford of Falkville and Ruth Kirby Martin of Hartselle; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Ruby Allison Moss
84, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ruby Allison Moss, 84, of Athens will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Sipes and the Rev. Eliel Hurst officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Moss died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Wayne County, Tenn. She was a homemaker and a member of New Life Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by three sons, David Junior Moss of Huntsville, and William Louie Moss and Fred Dean Moss, both of Athens; two daughters, DonaBell Pack of Minor Hill, Tenn., and DarthyMae Barnett of Athens; one brother, James Allison of Gary, Ind.; two sisters, Alice Rose of Athens and Bessie Glover of Pulaski, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Rebecca Ann Beasley Presnell
69, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Rebecca Ann Beasley Presnell, 69, of Athens will be today at 2:30 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Dan Binkley officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Presnell died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born May 5, 1930, in Giles County, Tenn. She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Limestone County. She was also a member of Marion Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Leo Presnell; three daughters, Patti Carter of Hazel Green , Penny Gibson of Huntsville and Pam Hicks of Athens; one stepson, Leo Presnell Jr. of Athens; one sister, Christine Elkins of Athens; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marty Adams, Dale Elkins, Mike Hovis, Randy Johnson, Dwight Banta and Steve Campbell.

Tina Sutton
32, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Tina Sutton, 32, of Mount Hope will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Edgil, the Rev. Brian Hall and the Rev. Sylvester Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Ferguson Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sutton died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at her home. She was born March 10, 1967, in Lawrence County. She was a homemaker and a member of New Life Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by her husband, Brad Sutton; one daughter, Amber Sutton of Mount Hope; her mother, Brenda Little of Town Creek; her father, Donald Little of Moulton; one brother, Dustin Little of Town Creek; two sisters, Donna Love and Tammy Argy, both of Town Creek; her grandfather, Grady Little of Mount Hope; and her grandmother, Sadie Vess of Town Creek.

Grace Eader Chauncey
87, homemaker

AYDEN, N.C. -- Funeral for Grace Eader Chauncey, 87, of Grifton, N.C., will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grifton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Allen officiating and Farmer Funeral Service in Ayden, N.C., directing.

Burial will be in Grifton Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 4 to 6 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Chauncey died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, in Greenville, N.C. She was born June 10, 1912, in Frederick, Md.

She was a homemaker and a member of Grifton United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Chauncey; two daughters, Carol C. Forwood of Belair, Md., and Paula C. Rigler of Decatur; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Grifton United Methodist Church.

Ralph A. Grooms
77, equipment specialist

Graveside service for Ralph A. Grooms, 77, of Decatur was Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville, with Berry Funeral Home directing and Shelton Funeral Home handling local arrangements.

Mr. Grooms died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at his home. He was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Tennessee to Bafford Grooms and Bessie Johnson Grooms. He was an equipment specialist retired from the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Oakley Grooms; one daughter, Susan Grooms of Nashville; his mother, Bessie Grooms of Knoxville; and one brother, Thomas C. Grooms of Decatur.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Earle Dewey Kitchen
80, retired Sears manager

HARTSELLE -- Memorial service for Earle Dewey Kitchen, 80, of Hartselle will be Monday at noon at the home of Ford and Jane Gates, 56 Church Road in Hartselle. Peck Funeral Home will direct.

Mr. Kitchen died Tuesday Oct. 12, 1999, at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Georgia to Albert B. and Mae Pope Kitchen. He was a store and zone manager at Sears department store in Montgomery, retired after 44 years.

He attended New Center Baptist Church in Hartselle, where he lived the past two years. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Montgomery was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a president of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce and of the Exchange Club in Montgomery and in Niceville, Fla. He was a member of the vestry of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Montgomery and was a chairman of the Montgomery United Way campaign fund. He was a member of the Rotary Club in Montgomery and was a volunteer court mediator in Florida.

He is survived by three sons, David Kitchen of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Al Kitchen of Atlanta, and Lee Kitchen of Montgomery; one daughter, Alice Kay Kitchen Williams of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; one stepson, Ford Gates of Hartselle; two brothers, Al Kitchen of Augusta, Ga., and Harry Kitchen of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Charlotte Bryngelson and Katherine Foran, both of Augusta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or to a favorite charity.

Ruby Mary Elizabeth Moss

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Ruby Mary Elizabeth Moss, 84, of Athens, who died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

Cecil Calvin Nix
84, retired insurance salesman

JASPER -- Funeral for Cecil Calvin Nix, 84, of Kansas, Ala., will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper with the Rev. James Dobson officiating.

Burial will be in Walker Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Nix died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Walker County Hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Carbon Hill to H.V. and Mary Etta Nix. He was a member of the Lions Club and was a deacon at Kansas Baptist Church. He was an insurance salesman, retired from Liberty National.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta Myers Nix; two sons, Dr. Lloyd Nix of Decatur and Paul Nix of Fairhope; one brother, Alton Nix of Sequim, Wash.; three sisters, Eula Mae Martin and Prima Adams, both of Jasper, and LaVelle Herron of Birmingham; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Kansas Baptist Church.

Kenneth Lynn Petty
31, water blaster

Funeral for Kenneth Lynn Petty, 31, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at David Temple Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Carey Orr officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery.

Mr. Petty died Oct. 11, 1999 at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 9, 1968 in Morgan County to William Robinson and Beatrice Petty.

He attended Austin High School and he was an amateur boxer and a member of David Temple. He formerly worked as a water blaster.

He is survived by four sons, Kendrick Miller, Kenneth R. Petty, Quincey Wilkerson and Tyson Benford, all of Decatur; two daughters, Alexis Petty and Kenya Petty of Decatur; father who lives in Georgia and mother who lives in Decatur; five brothers, Leon Petty Jr., Jimmy Petty, Tyrone Milam, all of Decatur, James Petty of Camp Templeton, Calif. And Joel Taylor of Elmore; three sisters, Vickie Wallace, Mary Dale and Deborah Smith, all of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Brian Bates, Chris Malone, Tyrone Elliott, Nick Caudle, Dennis Darby, William Dale, Todd Johnson and Tracey Miller.
