Graveside service for Methel Mae Conner Harrison, 83, of Decatur will be today at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Harrison died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation. She was born March 3, 1918, in Lawrence County to Andrew Thomas and Thurza Slaten Thomas. She was a retired central supply technician at Decatur General Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Tharon T. Harrison of Town Creek, Robert Franklin Harrison of Decatur and Donald W. Harrison of Madison; two daughters, Anna Paul McClain of Danville and Carolyn Sue Parker of Decatur; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Damion Ashley Reed Heard

Graveside service Damion Ashley Reed Heard, 18, of Elkmont will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gatlin Cemetery with Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the cemetery 30 minutes before the service.
Mr. Heard died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in North Augusta, S.C. He was born Nov. 26, 1982, in Decatur. He attended Ardmore High School, was an ironworker and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. His fiancee was Beth Kirby of Moulton.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jerry and Brenda Heard of Elkmont; his stepfather and mother, Frank E. and Kimberly Reed Baker of Augusta, Ga.; two stepbrothers, Bradley Clem and Brandon Clem, both of Elkmont; and his grandparents, Elmer and Betty Heard of Elkmont and Evelyn McCarley of Decatur.
Al Mitchell Jr.

Funeral for Al Mitchell Jr., 53, of Decatur will be today at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Evans officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Mitchell died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, in Lansing, Mich. He was born Sept. 12, 1947, in Michigan to Victor A. Mitchell and Maybelle Mitchell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Mitchell; two sons, Timothy Mitchell and Anthony "Tony" Mitchell, both of Decatur; one daughter, Lori Rutledge of Lansing; his parents of Lansing; and three sisters, Margie Gladding, Doris Click and Noreen White, all of Lansing.
Pallbearers will be Dean Arnold, Don Compton, Steve Lovell, Keith Lovell, Jim Waller and Russ Finch.

Mrs. Voci died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born in Morgan County to William Thomas Collier and Maggie May Dinsmore Collier. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church and a former Parisian employee.
Survivors include her husband, A.S. Voci; one son, Don Allen Poole of Decatur; one daughter, Emily Poole Crow of Decatur; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Crow, Jimmy Don Jackson, David Peek, Jimmy Barrett, Irvin White and Jimmy White.

Mrs. Buckelew died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at Cullman Health Care Center. She was born Jan. 24, 1911, in Alabama to Alma Harris Angle and W.O. Angle. She was the widow of Hollis Gordon Buckelew and mother of the late Judy Carol and Gordon Buckelew. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Alma Chasteen and Sherry Woodard, both of Hartselle; one son, Rex Buckelew of Hartselle; one sister, Mildred Wynn of Cullman; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for J.C. Fields, 73, of Danville was to be today at 3 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery with Phillip Hines and Doug Styles officiating.

Mr. Fields died Sat. Aug. 25, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Morgan County to Lewis Edward Fields and Lennie Ellen Teague Fields. He was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Dell Fields; one son, Jack Fields of Danville; two brothers, Milford Fields of Hartselle and Don Fields of Danville; and one grandson.
Pallbearers will be Jason Fields, Sandy Fields, Ricky Fields, Rodney Fields, Pat Smith and Frank Garner.

Billy Gaines Smith Sr.
ATHENS -- Funeral for Billy Gaines Smith Sr., 78, of Athens will be Monday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Sharman III officiating.
Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Athens to R.C. "Dick" Smith and Pattye Leonard Smith. He graduated from Athens High School in 1940. He was a World War II veteran who served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific. He owned and operated L&S Supermarkets in Athens and Ardmore with three of his brothers. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a Mason in Athens. He was brother of the late Harold C. Smith, Robert L. Smith and Mary Ann Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Turner Smith; three sons, Billy G. Smith Jr., Hal C. Smith and John T. Smith, all of Athens; one daughter, Pattye Smith Wilson of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Kenneth Smith of Athens; four sisters, Dorothy Blackburn, Marjorie Rose and Carolyn Turner, all of Athens, and Jo Lively of Decatur; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Turner, Nick Allen, Gaines Smith, Dick Smith, Wesley Abernathy and Cody Smith.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Graveside service for Vera White, 90, of Jacksonville, Fla. was Saturday at Green lawn Cemetery with Hewell and Son Funeral Home directing and the Rev. Kathryn Moore officiating.
Mrs. White died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born Oct. 20, 1910, in Morgan County to James Harvel and Pearl Harvel. She was the widow of Henry White and sister of the late Evelyn Crowe, Wynola Garrison, Eddy Harvel, James Harvel and Bobby Harvel.
Survivors include one son, William White of Jacksonville; three sisters, Mary Varnell and Jane McAbee, both of Hartselle, and Doris Jansen of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Willie Harvel; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Joyce Chapman Johnson

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at her home. She was born July 29, 1931, in Hattiesburg, Miss., to Arthur L. Chapman and Katherine Martin Chapman. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. She was an artist, and she played in the church orchestra. She was a retired secretary from Decatur City Schools.
Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Johnson; two sons, Robert C. Johnson Jr. of Roscoe, Ill., and Hugh A. Johnson of Hoover; two daughters, Margaret L. Whitmire of Gahanna, Ohio, and Janet Johnson Taylor of Peachtree City, Ga.; one brother, Arthur L. Chapman Jr. of Nashville; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Dean, Jim Lawrence, Kevin Teague, Brian Cagle, Rodney Barbin and Randy Barbin.

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Nancy Malone Johnson, 89, of Athens will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Coleman officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mrs. Johnson's home at 207 North Houston Street in Athens.
Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 7, 1912, in Athens to Henry Booth Malone and Nancy Lee Kelly Malone. She was the first librarian, along with the late Mrs. Maude Miller, to work at Athens Public Library. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Athens Garden Club, Athens-Limestone Historical Society, Athens Civitan Club and Athenian Study Club. She was the widow of Judge George C. Johnson, former circuit solicitor of the Eighth Judicial District and the mother of the late Belinda Dale Johnson.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Clyde Johnson of Huntsville, Sara McFerrin Johnson Crossfield and Alice Kelly Johnson King, both of Athens; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sam King, Roy Crossfield, Richard Martin Jr., Jay Crutcher, Warne Heath and Jonny Hounslow.

The infant died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, the day of his birth, at home.
Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Neysa Leicher of Athens; two brothers, Matthew Leicher and Michael Leicher, both of Athens; one sister, Elizabeth Leicher of Athens; his grandparents, Richard and Cynetha Leicher, Kenneth and Judy Meadows, and Barbara Meadows, all of Athens; and great-grandmothers, Beulah Tucker of Athens and Virginia Meadows of Florence.
Annette Rankin Middleton
GADSDEN -- Funeral for Annette Rankin Middleton, 83, of Gadsden will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Trader officiating.
Burial will be in Forrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Middleton died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Riverside Hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Etowah County to Herbert Rankin and Anna Will Rankin. She attended Judson College and served as a legal secretary. The Tennessee Valley Authority later employed her in Florence, where she met her husband, Charles M. Middleton Sr. In 1953, she accompanied him to the Panama Canal Zone, where he served as an engineer for four years. They moved to Gadsden in 1956 when he joined Republic Steel.
Survivors include one son, Charles Morgan "Shari" Middleton Jr. of Priceville; two daughters, Nancy Spencer of Falls Church, Va., and Jane Hudson of Gadsden; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Randall Taylor
MOULTON -- Funeral for Randall Dwight Taylor, 48, of Hatton will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Fowler officiating.
Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at his home. He was born May 17, 1953, in Lawrence County to Dwight Taylor and Helen Jeffreys Taylor. He was a former employee of Champion International paper mill and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was a member of Hatton Masonic Lodge No. 802, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, serving as director of the association's Chapter I of Decatur. He was a former Hatton fireman, EMT and rapid responder and was the grandson of the late Travis Jeffreys, Henry Taylor and Viola Taylor.
Survivors include one son, Staff Sgt. Jason Randall Taylor of Holloman Air Force Base, N.M; his parents, of Hatton; one sister, Lisa Reeves of Hatton; his grandmother, Hazel Jeffreys of Hatton; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Jeffreys, Jim Taylor, Brandon Oliver, Bill Gulley, F.T. Sanders and Glen Switzer.
