Lucille Marie Turner Chatman
Funeral for Lucille Marie Turner Chatman, 82, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Madison C. Brown officiating.
The body will be at the church one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Chatman died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at her son's home. She was born in Morgan County on Feb. 14, 1919, to Charlie and Essie Turner. Mrs. Chatman retired from teaching after spending 38 years in the Morgan County School System. Through her career, she taught at Cedar Lake School, Lacey's Spring, West Morgan, Morgan County Training School, and Leaders School.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie R. Chatman of Valhermoso Springs, and Madison C. Brown of Texarkana, Ark.; and six grandchildren.
Marie Roberts Christian
HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Marie Roberts Christian, 75, of Northport was Thursday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Wells officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Park .
Mrs. Christian died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at The University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. She was born May 12, 1926, in Belle Mina to Samuel Ward Roberts and Althea Tate Washington Roberts.
Mrs. Christian graduated from Tanner High School and went on to earn a bachelor of science degree from Florence State Teacher's College. She later earned a master's degree at George Peabody College in Nashville, and studied at The University of Alabama.
Mrs. Christian taught for 20 years in Alabama public schools, including five years at Riverside Elementary School in Decatur. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Northport, the American Association of University Women, Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution. She also wrote a book titled "Threads of Many Colors."
She was the widow of J.R. "Dick" Christian, who she married Jan. 28, 1967.
Survivors include one stepson, Thomas Richard Christian of Titus; one stepdaughter, Dru Christian Bookout of Dallas; several relatives in Morgan and Limestone counties; and several grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robert Hoffman, J. Curtis Hargrove, Frank Christian, Ward Christian, Jack Christian, Frank Hilleke and Bill Clark.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church in Northport.
Peggy Jo Kimbrough
ATHENS -- Funeral for Peggy Jo Kimbrough, 58, of Athens will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Craft officiating.
Burial will be in Bottom Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kimbrough died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Athens Limestone Hospital. She was born Sept. 17, 1943, in Limestone County to Mason Fain and Lillian Fain. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Kimbrough and Dennis Campbell, both of Athens; her mother, of Athens; one brother, Doug Fain of Athens; four sisters, Shirley Shores, Nancy Watkins, Carolyn Siniard and Linda Callahan, all of Athens; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dale Siniard, Donnie Siniard, Timmy Siniard, Heath Shores, John Irvin, and Trent Fain.
Sherry Lynn Naylor Seabrook
TRINITY -- Funeral for Sherry Lynn Naylor Seabrook, 62, of Moulton will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Clyde Goodlett and Bruce Fitzgerald officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Seabrook died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 12, 1939, in Lawrence County to Miles Jack Naylor and Nellie Ledlow Naylor. She was a homemaker and member of Berea Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ben Seabrook of Moulton; two sons, Craig Seabrook of Decatur, and Rex Seabrook of Montgomery; one daughter, Mitzi Chitwood of Lafayette, La.; seven brothers, Clellie Naylor of Georgia, Irwin Naylor, Windle Naylor and Marshall Naylor, all of Moulton, Hoyt Naylor and Carl Naylor, both of Hatton, and Roger Naylor of Gulf Shores; four sisters, Mary Spillers, Margaret Jackson, Geraldine Key, and Vivian Naylor, all of Moulton; and five grandchildren.

Bernice "Polly" Shaffer
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Bernice "Polly" Shaffer, 74, of Hartselle will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Nappier and the Rev. Dewitt Crowe officiating.
Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shaffer died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Lawrence County to James Arthur Gillespie and Alice Rhodes Gillespie. She worked with Ramada Inn Motel Organization for several years, and was a long-time resident of Quail Run Apartments in Hartselle.
Survivors include two sons, James Shaffer of Decatur, and Mike Shaffer of Cullman; one daughter, Charlotte McAbee of Hartselle; one sister, Edith Borden of Somerville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Arron Clark, John Young, Terrell Borden, Alan Vinson, Erric Shaffer and Randy Flowers.
Marvin Winfred Barnes
Funeral for Marvin Winfred Barnes, 82, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Ridout's-Brown Service Funeral Home with Ronnie Bullard and Lynn Morgan officiating.
Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Oct. 31, 1919. He was a retiree of Willo Products and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Stoney Acres Baptist Church and he belonged to American Legion Post 15 and Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 4190.
Survivors include his wife, Birdie Christine Barnes; two sons, Dave M. Barnes and Gilbert W. Barnes, both of Decatur; one daughter, Sheila Fay Barnes Roberts of Hartselle; one brother, Bobby Ray Barnes of Hartselle; one sister, Elnora Aycock of Hartselle; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Barnes, Dennis Barnes, David Barnes, Billy Prince, David Prince, Anthony Prince, Chris Weatherby and Jeremy Terry.
S. Jeanne Haynes
NAPLES, FLA. -- Memorial service for S. Jeanne Haynes, 62, of Naples, Fla., will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Naples Church of Christ with Hodges Funeral Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Haynes died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, in Naples Community Hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Hartselle to W.E. and Louise Sivley. She was a native of Decatur and a real estate broker.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Haynes; two sons, Allen Haynes of Tampa, Fla., and Spencer Haynes of Naples; one sister, Elizabeth Strahan of Brea, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Martha Holmes
MOULTON -- Funeral for Martha Holmes, 69, of Courtland will be Tuesday at noon at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Courtland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral Home.
Mrs. Holmes died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at her home. She was born July 22, 1932, in Georgia, to Julius Powell and Maude Powell. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, James I. Holmes of Courtland, Daniel B. Holmes of Loganville, Ga., W. Joseph Holmes of Springhill, Fla., and C. Kelly Holmes of Adairsville, Ga.; one daughter, Georgia Jean Grestner of Fayetteville, Ark.; one sister, Cathrine White of McCormick. S.C.; and 14 grandchildren.
Sons will be pallbearers.
Frank James
ATHENS -- Funeral for Frank James, 81, of Belle Mina, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Ricky Lowery officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. James died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Limestone County to Will and Alma McCarty James. He was a retired farmer and a member of South Limestone Volunteer Fire Department and Valley View Church of Christ. He was the father of the late Paul James, Charles James and Mary Taymon.
Survivors include his wife, Doris James; three sons, Ricky James of Madison, and Mack James and Randall James, both of Belle Mina; two daughters, Glenda Keenum and Brenda Robinson, both of Belle Mina; two sisters, Bertha Green of Moulton and Lucy Kelley of Tanner; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Regina Mae Pounders

Mrs. Pounders died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1947, in Decatur to Jewel and Flossie Burns.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Pounders; one daughter, Vania Schwaiger of Cullman; her mother of Decatur; one brother, Ralph Burns of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

HARTSELE -- Graveside service for Mamie L. Rodgers, 95, of Hartselle was to be today at 11 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Jerri Hunt officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Ms. Rodgers died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Sept. 14, 1906, in Morgan County to Ralph Rufus Albert Rodgers and Minnie Lee Roper Rodgers. She was a member of Forest Chapel United Methodist Church in Hartselle.
Survivors include one brother, Gene Rodgers of Hartselle; and three sisters, Ruby Huskey and Martha Patterson, both of Hartselle, and Jewel Johnson of Gadsden.
Nephews will be pallbearers.
Brady Walker

Mr. Walker died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born May 2, 1925, in Winston County, to Monroe Daniel Walker and Maudy Nevady Walker. He was owner of Walker Reed Manufacturing and was retired from Fruehauf.
Survivors include one son, Butch Walker of Hatton; two daughters, Dianne Walker Thrasher and June Walker Reed, both of Moulton; three brothers, Paul Walker of Hartselle, Kenneth Walker of Arley and Oliver Walker of Falkville; three sisters, Lodine Prater, Violene Keeling and Lucille Walker, all of Danville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Thrasher, Casey Reed, Mike Allred, Kris Sutton, Darryl Gaddy and Owen Walker.
