William David Gilchrist
83, retired Air Force colonel
Graveside service for William David Gilchrist Sr., 83, of Courtland will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Courtland City Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. William Cooper officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends following the service at Courtland Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Gilchrist died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, in Madison. He was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Courtland to William Garth Gilchrist and Louise Clark Gilchrist.
He was a 1938 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in aeronautical engineering. Commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps, Gilchrist flew as a fighter pilot in World War II and the Korean War, serving in England, Germany, North Africa, Korea and Japan; he retired as a colonel in the Air Force. He was a member of the Decatur Rotary Club and a lifelong member of Courtland Presbyterian Church, where he taught men's Sunday school.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Hitch Gilchrist; two sons, William David Gilchrist Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Edward Hitch Gilchrist of Folkston, Ga.; two daughters, Lelia Martin Gilchrist of Nashville and Virginia Gilchrist Fite of Decatur; one brother, Dr. Philip Gilchrist of Mobile; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deacons and elders from Courtland Presbyterian Church will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Kelsoe died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at her daughter's home in Cullman. She was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Decatur to Clyde and Mable Dutton Kelsoe. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by one daughter, Pam O'Neil of Cullman; one brother, William T. Kelsoe of Decatur; four sisters, Geneva Blankenship and Linda Oden, both of Decatur, and Mary Lou Sandlin and Barbara Wynn, both of Hartselle; three grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Lawrence, Stan Sandlin, Tracy Herring, Stephen Sandlin, Donnie Blankenship and Jason Wynn.

Mrs. Terry died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Lawrence County to William and Nancy Rose. She was a homemaker and the widow of Everett J. Terry.
She is survived by two sons, Jessie Ottis Terry of Hillsboro and Carlton Odis Terry of Arnold, Calif.; two daughters, Rita Faye Melton of Decatur and Donna Kay Hollimon of Moulton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will be pallbearers.

Funeral for Howard D. Thrasher, 79, of Decatur was to be today at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Nesmith and the Rev. Gary Patton officiating.
Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Thrasher died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Sun Bridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Lawrence County to William and Nancy Ann Thrasher. A member of Conway Baptist Church, he drove a truck for Wholesome Bread Co. and was retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation, where he worked as a guard.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Thrasher; three sons, Byron Thrasher of Danville, Royce Thrasher of Hartselle and Ronnie Thrasher of Decatur; one daughter, Angie Hughes of Danville; one stepson, Perry Waldrop of Champaign, Ill.; one sister, Wilma Pearl Shelton of Lawrence County; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Rodney Thrasher, Brandon Thrasher, Jeff Thrasher, Mickey Hughes, Chad Suggs and Roy Woods.
Johnathan Mark'Tiger' Warren
Funeral for Johnathan Mark "Tiger" Warren, 36, of Decatur was to be today at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Eugene Lewis officiating.

Mr. Warren died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at his home. He was born Aug. 14, 1963, in Decatur to Ruth Warren and the Rev. Theo Griffin. He was the brother of the late Leon Taylor and Tashara Griffin.
He graduated from Austin High School in 1982 and was a member of St. Stephen Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother of Decatur; his stepmother, Shirley Griffin of Danville; eight brothers, Johnny Lee Warren, Ronnie Warren, Billy Warren, Theon Griffin, Clifton Griffin, Maurice Griffin and Orlandus Griffin, all of Decatur, and Jerry Warren of Hartselle; six sisters, Janice Brown of Pittsburgh, Pa., Willie Mae Pointer of Moulton, Vonda Sharpley of Berea, Ohio, and Lotonya Lockett, Wanda Davis and Belinda Griffin, all of Decatur; and his grandfather, Howard Jolly of Decatur.

Mrs. Archer died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 27, 1930, in Lawrence County, to Harry and Minnie Way.
She was a member of Enon Baptist Church and retired from Prestolite where she worked on the assembly line.
She is survived by her husband, Alton E. Archer; two stepsons, Eugene Archer of Lynnville, Tenn., and Neal Archer of Moulton; two stepdaughters, Libby Thomason of Lynnville and Shelia Johnson of Danville; five brothers, Willard Way, Alton Way and Reuel Way, all of Trinity, and Howell Way and Donald Way, both of Danville; one sister, Annie Kirby of Elberton, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was born July 9, 1910, in Morgan County to Frank L. Roberts and Ida Lawrence Roberts.She was a mother and housewife. She was the widow of George L. Carden and the mother of the late George L. Carden Jr., Claude Carden, Clarence Carden, Charles Carden and Max Carden.
She is survived by four sons, John Frank Carden of Falkville, Robert Howard Carden of Lampe, Mo., Billy Wayne Carden of Chicago and David Michael Carden of Orlando Park, Ill.; two daughters, Betty Ann Jacobs of New Albany, Miss., and Peggy Jean Perkey of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Mollie Davis of Falkville; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
