GARDENDALE -- Graveside service for Marion T. Gray, 83, of Trinity will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cullman Public Cemetery with Gardendale Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Gray died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at National Health Care in Moulton. The family will receive friends at the gravesite one hour before services.
He was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Alabama to James R. Gray and Dora Wade Gray. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy and Germany. He retired from Tennessee Coal & Iron in Birmingham. He was the widower of Leatrice Whitlow Gray.
Survivors include one brother, Charlie Gray of Trinity; and two sisters, Vergie Doss and Clara Sandy, both of Decatur.
Annie Lou Herron
Funeral for Annie Lou Herron, 81, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Wyman Logan officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Herron died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Chapman Nursing Home in Alexander City. She was born April 8, 1920, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to William Burns and Pearl Burns. She was a homemaker and a member of Sixth Avenue Church of God. She was married to Tom Herron Jr., who died two days after her.
Survivors include two sons, J. Marvin Herron of Decatur and Billy W. Herron of Knoxville; one daughter, Tommie Lou Bennett of Alexander City; one brother, Milton R. Burns of Memphis; two sisters, Sue Bazzell of Decatur and Quay Johnson of Selma; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Bolan, Glenn Bolan, Mike Bolan, Steve Bolan, Greg Herron and Sam Currier.
Tom Herron Jr.
Funeral for Tom Herron Jr., 83, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Wyman Logan officiating.

Mr. Herron died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. He was born Oct. 22, 1918, in Florence, to Tom Herron Sr. and Verna Herron. He was a World War II veteran and member of the American Legion. He was retired from Decatur Iron and Steel and Ingalls Iron Works. He was a member of Sixth Avenue Church of God and was married to Annie Lou Herron, who died two days before him.

Lucille H. Laughmiller
Funeral for Lucille H. Laughmiller, 90, of Decatur will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Mike King and Ralph Stout officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Laughmiller died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 17, 1911, in Limestone County to Claude and Mary Lou Hardiman. She was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ and lived most of her life in Tanner.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Thomas Laughmiller of Decatur and William Bailey Laughmiller of Birmingham; one daughter, June Claire Glisan of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Rebecca Pilon of Michigan, Claudine Stone of Birmingham and Pauline Morrison of Trussville; six grandchildren and seven great-grand children.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Josie B. 'J.B.' Lorance
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Josie B. "J.B." Lorance, 81, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Spradlin officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Lorance died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Morgan County to Charlie Marshall Lorance and Gennie Lou Millican Lorance. He was a welder and construction worker and was a member of Local No. 377 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Central Christian Church in Hartselle for 31 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dunreath Lorance; two daughters, Mary Jean Sanford of Somerville and Kathy L. Richards of Athens; one brother, Marshall Lavor Lorance of Decatur; one sister, Ruth L. Key of Decatur; one half-brother, Charlie M. Lorance of Florida; two half-sisters, Edna Mae Hemken of Vandalia, Ill., and Patricia Ann Blakey of Ramer, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donald Wilburn, Lamar Gerstman, Mike Dupree, Jack Key, Paul Johnson and Gerald Yeager.
Rev. Leon Madden
Funeral for the Rev. Leon Madden, 70, of Decatur will be Saturday at noon at Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Roland Gray officiating.
Burial will be Dobbins Cemetery in Town Creek with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.
Mr. Madden died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Lawrence County. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland, and served as pastor at Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church. He also was pastor at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Florence. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 744.
Survivors include his wife, Josie Vaughn Madden; one son, Percy Madden of Decatur; two daughters, Nora Gholston and Evelina Owens, both of Decatur; two stepsons, Trekko Vaughn of Decatur and Brenton Vaughn of Chicago; one stepdaughter, Selethia Taylor of Decatur; four brothers, Leonard White of Leighton, James White of Hillsboro, the Rev. Jimmy White of Town Creek and Lesley White of Decatur; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Members of Masonic Lodge No. 744 will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Prince died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at South Morgan Health Care Center. She was born May 16, 1913, to Dave and Linnie Corum of Wheeler. She was a member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church and was the widow of Hurley C. Prince.
Survivors include one son, Billy G. Prince of Decatur; one sister, Christeen Barnes of Decatur; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

Ms. Shoulders died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at her home. She was born Dec. 16, 1955, in Limestone County to Benjamin King and Jessie Shoulders.
Survivors include two sons, Nick Shoulders and Tereance Shoulders, both of Athens; her father of Selma; four brothers, Travis Shoulders, Neal Shoulders and Bruce Young, all of Athens, and Bobby Ray King of Pell City; two sisters, Katrina King of Pell City and Annie Ruth Smith of Rogersville; and two grandchildren.

Ms. Smith died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, in Millbrook. She was born Oct. 5, 1977, in Cullman County to Frankie Lane and Nancy Watwood Smith. She attended Pine Street Baptist Church in Falkville. She was the granddaughter of the late Oscar Clyde and Myrtle Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Amber LaShay Rose Wright of Falkville; her parents of Hartselle; two brothers, Frankie Shane Smith and Christopher Cody Smith, both of Hartselle; one sister, Jamie Raines of Hartselle; and her grandparents, Robert and Patsy Watwood of Cullman.

Katherine Thaxton Stroupe

Ms. Stroupe died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at her home. She was born July 23, 1922, in Tennessee to D.W. Thaxton and Nancy Summers Thaxton. She was retired from Monsanto Chemical Co., now Solutia. She was a member of Austinville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Jim Thaxton of Decatur and David Thaxton and Frank Thaxton, both of Town Creek; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Tucker of Ashland City, Tenn., Sister Thaxton and Juanita Cain, both of Town Creek.

Mr. Atchley died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at The University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born June 14, 1950, in Morgan County to John Atchley and Opal Reeves Atchley.

Mr. Bates died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home. He was born April 12, 1930, in Limestone County to Chester Bates and Gertrude Bates.
He attended Craig's Chapel and Market Street Churches of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired farmer.
He was the brother of the late Hazel Bates.
Survivors include his wife, Lenna Ruth Gatlin Bates; three daughters, Sherry Townsend of Minor Hill, Tenn., and Sue Griffin and Shelia Clark, both of Athens; two brothers, H.C. "Mutt" Bates and Nathan "Shorty" Bates, both of Athens; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
