ATHENS -- Funeral for Lucille Pepper Laxson, 90, of Athens will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Everett Conn officiating.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Laxson died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 6, 1911, in Limestone County to Andrew Pepper and Lottie Pepper. She was a member of Capshaw Church of Christ and the Capshaw Homemakers Club. She was a retired Tupperware dealer.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Laxson of Athens; five daughters, Charlotte Doucette, Barbara Pope, Nancy Abernathy, Sandra Wenning and Lila Wales, all of Athens; two brothers, Grafton Pepper of Capshaw and Reggie Pepper of Madison; three sisters, Virginia Wooten of Toney, Geneva Abernathy of Capshaw and Catherine Dabov of Hazel Green ; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Doucette, Thomas Abernathy, Wade Pepper, Jerald Abernathy, Billie Wales Jr. and Glenn Laxson.

Grannie 'O' Lucille Beavers Oden
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Grannie "O" Lucille Beavers Oden, 89, of Eva will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Oden Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. James Wray officiating.
Burial will be in Oden Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Oden died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at her home. She was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Marshall County to Robert Beavers and Katie Parker Beavers. She was a member of Oden Ridge Baptist Church.
She was cared for by Shirley Johnson and Hannah McNutt, AlaCare and Hospice of Ala- Care.
Survivors include one son, Garvis Oden of Eva; one daughter, Glenda Ford of Eva; three sisters, Edith Brown of Brewton, Evelyn Brown of Birmingham and Johnnie Self of Decatur; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
John Fred Poole
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for John Fred Poole, 68, of Falkville will be today at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church in Eva with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Sessions officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
Mr. Poole died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born July 8, 1933, in Cullman to Charlie Dewey Poole and Ruth Odesa Foster Poole.
He was a retired foreman at Wayne Farms and a member of Unity Freewill Baptist Church. He was the father of the late Dawn Poole and the brother of the late Charlie Poole Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldean Poole; one son, Dwight Poole of Falkville; three daughters, Ramona Eargle of Vinemont, Rebecca McCleskey of Hartselle and Racheal Smallwood of Decatur; two brothers, Ezra Poole of Snead and Kenneth Poole of Oneonta; and six grandchildren.
His nephews will be pallbearers.
Ramona Terry
TRINITY -- Funeral for Ramona Terry, 55, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Pullen officiating.
Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Ms. Terry died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.
She was born April 20, 1946, in Lawrence County. She was the daughter of the late Austin W. Terry.
Survivors include her mother, Ruby Rose Terry of Hillsboro; two brothers, Jimmy Terry of Hillsboro and Onnis Terry of Trinity; and two sisters, Renita Cartee and Rose Marie Key, both of Moulton.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Nora Ella Sharp Turner
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Nora Ella Sharp Turner, 83, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Manly, the Rev. Cecil Berry and the Rev. Tommy Smothers officiating.
Burial will be in New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Turner died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at her home. She was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Priceville to James Thomas Sharp and Annie Mae Leeman Sharp. She was a 1939 graduate of Priceville High School, the school's first graduating class. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church, where she formerly was librarian, financial secretary and Sunday school teacher. She and her husband were married for 62 years.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil C. Turner; two sons, Cecil H. Turner and Michael Turner, both of Decatur; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Morris Carr, Joe Edwards, David Grantland, Jimmy Sharp, Ralph Sharp, Tommy Sharp, Henry Thompson and Derek Turner.

Richard Wade Farris
TULLAHOMA, Tenn. -- Graveside service for Richard Wade Farris, 69, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Tullahoma with the Rev. Tim McGeehee and the Rev. Garry Irvin officiating and Tullahoma Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home.
Mr. Farris died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Tullahoma to Pascol H. Farris and Lennis Barham Farris. He was a contracts manager for Boeing Co. in Huntsville and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Janice S. Farris; two sons, Richard Farris Jr., of Richmond, Va., and Bradley Farris of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Pascol B. Farris of Tullahoma; one sister, Sue Rossman of Tullahoma; and one grandchild.

Betty Keenum
MOULTON -- Funeral for Betty Keenum, 47, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating.

Ms. Keenum died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at her home. She was born Dec. 31, 1954, in Lawrence County, to Josie Keenum and was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, DeWayne Keenum and Tommy Harper, both of Moulton, and Robbie Harper of Cullman; two daughters, Martha Tyler of Moulton and Leeann Harper of Decatur; one brother, Junior Keenum of Decatur; one sister, Mildred Keenum of Moulton; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adam Abner, Rebe Barnett, Kim Mackey, Buddy May, Pete Keenum and John Foote.
Jose Luis Parra
Memorial service for Jose Luis Parra, 40, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.
Mr. Parra died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1961, in Cuba to Gonzalo Parra and Aida Castillo Parra. He was a plumber.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Parra; three sons, Jeffrey Stout, Kyle Stripe and Jose Parra Jr., all of Decatur; one daughter, Alicia Parra of Decatur; and one brother, Luis Parra of Miami.
Jack A. Stanley

Mr. Stanley died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Ga. He was born July 18, 1959, in Columbia to Millard Guss Stanley and Anna Mai Alexander Stanley. He was a Baptist and a welder for Craft Force. He served in the 82nd Airborne of the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Stanley; two sons, Caleb Stanley of Hartselle and Jason Stanley of Tuscaloosa; two brothers, Mike Stanley of Birmingham and Milton Stanley of Texas; and two sisters, Ann Stanley of Thompson Station, Tenn., and Malinda Stanley of Key West, Fla.
Pallbearers will be Victor Certian, Joey Haywood, Teebar Haywood, Mike Stanley, Milton Stanley, Mike Tingle and Darren Wright.
James Morris Black
ATHENS -- Funeral for James Morris Black, 86, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan McIntyre officiating. Burial was to be in Ripley Cemetery.
Mr. Black died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born June 22, 1915, in Limestone County to Roy Black and Mary Marks Black. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired farmer. He was a member of Riddle's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Marjorie Shaw Black, the father of the late Catherine Black Holland and the grandfather of the late Shaw Morris Holland.
Survivors include one daughter, Hewlett Black Smith of Athens; one brother, Glenn Black of Athens; and two grandsons.
Pallbearers were to be Andy King, Gene Black, Spencer Black, Ed Black, Bobby Zirble, David Marks, Jerry Durham and Chris Williamson.
Heywood Carter
ATHENS -- Funeral for Heywood Gray Carter, 74, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel with the Rev. Ed McCracken officiating.

Mr. Carter died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at his home. He was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Limestone County to Buren Carter and Annie Lou Bridgeforth Carter, and was retired from the City of Athens' water department. He was a former parts manager at Athens Motors and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Patterson Carter; two sons, Grayson Carter of Athens and Dale Carter of Decatur; two daughters, Angela Hargrove of Athens and Gayla Wright of Decatur; one brother, Howard Carter of Athens; three sisters, Ruby Christopher of Franklin, N.C., Emma Gean Hudson of Birmingham, and Dean Dollar of Lakeland, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ann McMeans Christopher
ATHENS -- Funeral for Ann McMeans Christopher, 68, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jody Hill and the Rev. Jerrilee Lewallen officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 9 until 11 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Christopher died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital. She was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Limestone County to O.P. McMeans and Maggie Stovall McMeans. She was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Athens and a charter member of the Athens Athena League. She was owner of Christopher Realty in Athens since 1978. She was former director and past president of the Athens Board of Realtors, former director of AmSouth Bank and the Athens-Limestone Chamber of Commerce. The chamber elected Mrs. Christopher as Citizen of the Year in 1983.
Survivors include one son, Billy Amos Christopher of Rogersville; and three grandchildren.

Harry Fletcher Gilbert
ATHENS -- Graveside service for Harry Fletcher Gilbert, 84, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Warren Glass officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Gilbert died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1917, in Limestone County to Richard Lee Gilbert and Florence Rogers Gilbert. He was a lifelong resident of Limestone County and a member of Valley View Church of Christ. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Jerry Gilbert; two sons, Marty Gilbert and Nelson Gilbert, both of Athens; one daughter, Jo Ann Hood of Athens; one sister, Bernice White of Athens; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Jeff Claxton, Ed Black, Ray Smith, Rowland Thomas, Jerry Adams and Jimmy Skipworth.
