ATHENS -- Funeral for Mary Elizabeth Jackson, 72, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Bush officiating.
Burial was to be in Antioch Cemetery.
Miss Jackson died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Limestone County, to Mahlon Jackson and Lola Jackson. She was a homemaker and was the sister of the late Thomas Jackson and Francis Ezell.
Survivors include three sisters, Ann Sink of Priceville, and Pauline Sloan and Doris Trousdale, both of Athens.
Nephews will be pallbearers.
Naomi Locklayer
Funeral for Naomi Patricia Locklayer, 56, of Decatur will be Friday at noon at Ebenezer CME Church with the Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating.
Burial will be in Locklayer Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.
Ms. Locklayer died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. She was born Sept. 15, 1945, in Lawrence County to Robert Locklayer and Lillie Watkins Locklayer. She was a 1963 graduate of Tennessee Valley High School and she attended Drake Technical College in Huntsville. She was a Mary Kaye representative, a volunteer receptionist at Parkway Medical Center and a member of Abundant Life Church.
Survivors include four brothers, Thomas Locklayer of Hampton, Va., David Locklayer, Hillman Locklayer and Robert Locklayer III, all of Hillsboro; three sisters, Ruth Gray of Hillsboro, Linda Watkins of Decatur and Avis McCalla of Leesburg, Va.; and one stepsister, Margie Perkins of Hillsboro.
Nephews will be pallbearers.
Emmer Milligan
Funeral for Emmer Milligan, 73, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Mike Webster officiating.
Burial will be in Battleground Cemetery in Cullman County. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Milligan died Jan. 30, 2002, at her home. She was born June 16, 1928, in Jackson County to George Will Matthews and Bertha Evett Matthews. She was a member of the Holy Church of Christ. She was widow of Rev. Hershel Milligan.
Survivors include three sons, James Milligan of Priceville, Dale Milligan of Hillsboro and Billy Milligan of Scottsboro; three daughters, Helen Gatlin and Frances Dalton, both of Decatur, and Darinda Pierunek of Canada; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Dalton, Steve Dalton, Jamie Milligan, Robert Hayes Jr., Ricky Hayes and Lenny Matthews.
Opal Milligan Motes

Mrs. Motes died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born May 19, 1923, in Cullman County to Henry J. Milligan and Susie Smith Milligan. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Chester L. Motes and the mother of the late Ona Lee Dunn.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Dunn of Cullman and Doyle Dunn of Decatur; two sisters, Rosie Bryant and Dora Stuckey, both of Cullman; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Addie Bagsby Prestriedge
ATHENS -- Funeral for Addie Bagsby Prestriedge, 88, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Arvid McGuire officiating.
Burial was to be in Legg Cemetery.
Mrs. Prestriedge died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Jackson County to Ed Davis and Eva Evans Davis.
She was a homemaker and a member of Leggtown Church of Christ. She was the mother of the late Inez Bagsby.
Survivors include four sons, Leslie Bagsby of Elkmont, Robert Bagsby of Dallas and Thomas Bagsby and Henry Bagsby, both of Athens; three daughters, Rosie Lee Siler, Evelyn Bagsby and Virgina Grisham, all of Athens; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Bonnie Rose
ATHENS -- Funeral for Bonnie Ollice Rose, 99, of Dearborn, Mich., formerly of Athens, will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the service.
Mr. Rose died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Allen Park, Mich. He was born Dec. 9, 1902, in western Limestone County, to Thomas Jefferson Rose and Lura Nevada Tucker Rose. He was a barber in Athens during the 1920s and 1930s, and moved to Dearborn in 1937. Mr. Rose was a salesman for Life of Virginia Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1969, and regularly attended reunions of the old Oxford School in western Limestone County, which he attended as a teenager.
He was a member of Dearborn Heights Baptist Church, the widower of Myrtle Boehm Rose and the brother of the late Clarence Rose and Milton Rose.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Christian Rose of Alpena, Mich.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or a church of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1918, in Morgan County to Howard H. Higdon and Mary L. Black Higdon. She was a homemaker. She was sister of the late Iva Mae Cagle.

Mrs. Bradford died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Shoals Hospital. She was born March 14, 1918, in Alabama, to Arthur McGregor and Belle Beavers McGregor. She was a homemaker and the widow of Brown Bradford. Mrs. Bradford was a member of Old Liberty Congregational Christian Church in the Loosier Community. She was the mother of the late Geraldine Bradford.
Survivors include one son, Ricky Lynn Bradford of Town Creek; one daughter, Teresa Bradford Hutto of Town Creek; one foster son, Ronnie McGregor of Dallas, Texas; one foster daughter, Judy McGregor Johnson of Norco, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Griffin died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in Somerville. She was born Dec. 17, 1963, in Morgan County to Herman Brewer and Judy Ramey Brewer. She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church and a 1982 graduate of Hartselle High School. Chrysler Corporation in Huntsville employed her as a production worker.
Survivors include her husband, Ben H. Griffin; her mother of Somerville; one brother, Gary Brewer of Somerville; one step-son, Benjamin G. Griffin of Madison; and one step-daughter, Paula Lamar Mintzer of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Nellie Pauline Tapscott Halbrooks

Mrs. Halbrooks died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1914, in Morgan County to Jack R. Tapscott and Rosie Ferguson Tapscott. She was retired from Goodyear Mill Production. She was a Baptist and the widow of James Mac Halbrooks.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Halbrooks Drain of Hartselle; two sisters, Jessie Lee of Hartselle and Esther Robertson of Cullman; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Leamon Dale Hardiman

Mr. Hardiman died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at his home. He was born June 23, 1960, in Hammond, Ind., to Leamon T. Hardiman and Donna Havlin Hardiman. He was retired from General Electric.
Survivors include one son, Adam Hardiman of Decatur; one daughter, Brianna Hardiman of Decatur; his father and step-mother, Martha Hardiman, of Decatur; two brothers, Timothy Hardiman of Decatur and Danny Hardiman of Tanner; one sister, Bonnie Solomon of Decatur; and one granddaughter.
