MOULTON -- Funeral for Syble Wilbanks, 75, of Hillsboro will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Rogers and Rev. Ray Gray officiating.
Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wilbanks died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at National Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Lawrence County to Ed Sparks and Lella Sparks. She was a homemaker and wife of the late Levert Wilbanks.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry Lee Wilbanks, Garlon Wilbanks and Lance Wilbanks, all of Trinity and Jeff Wilbanks of Moulton; three daughters, Ann Terry of Hillsboro, Carolyn Williams of Tanner and Judy Mayfield of Moulton; two brothers, Lonnie Sparks and James Sparks, both of Trinity; one sister, Pauline Johnson of Moulton; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Lowell Duncan
ONEONTA -- Funeral for Lowell Duncan, 66, of Douglas will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Faith Covenant Church of God with the Rev. Jack Decanter officiating.
Burial will be in Douglas Cemetery with Lemley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before services.
Mr. Duncan died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at The University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Blount County to Harvey D. Duncan and Lizzie Ray Duncan. He was owner of Trinity Gallery in Oneonta. He was a member of Faith Covenant Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Ann East Duncan; one son, Dan Duncan of Arab; three daughters, Teresa Moore of Hartselle, Leigh Hullett of Oneonta and Misty Wilbanks of Alabaster; his mother of Boaz; two brothers, Clarence Duncan of Snead and Billy Duncan of Huntsville; one sister, Norma Gable of Snead; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
William Raleigh Gillies
TRUSSVILLE -- Funeral for William Raleigh Gillies, 86, of Birmingham will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with the Rev. Neil Glausier officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Gillies died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Brookwood Hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Northport. He graduated from West End High School and was a certified manufacturing engineer, holding several local and regional offices in the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. The society named a scholarship in his honor. He was also a woodworker who designed and built boats and furniture as well as musical instruments.
Mr. Gillies was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, a former deacon, Sunday school teacher, member of Gideons International, choir director and choir soloist. He was a former member of Norwood Baptist Church and West End Baptist Church in Birmingham and a charter member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Huntsville. He was the widower of Laura Lois Francis Gillies and the widower of Berney Jane McCormack Gillies. He was the brother of the late David Earl Gillies, Lewis Ernest Gillies, and Mary Gillies Williams.
Survivors include one son, Robert Lewis Gillies of Decatur; one daughter, Nancy Gillies Bonnett of Birmingham; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Irvin Harris Sr.
ATHENS -- Funeral for Irvin Harris Sr., 76, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and formerly of Athens, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Yarbrough Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in David Temple Cemetery in Tanner.
Mr. Harris died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Murfreesboro. He was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Limestone County to Charlie Harris and Mamie Harris. He was retired as a construction worker and was a member of Mount Vernon Primitive Baptist Church. He also was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four sons, Irvin Harris Jr. of Rockford, Ill., Gaylord Harris of Vista, Calif., and Billy Harris and Calsor Harris, both of Athens; two daughters, Sue Carroll Johnson of Montgomery and Minnie Ballanger of Chattanooga; one brother, W.G. Harris of Minneapolis; one sister, Delois Jackson of Athens; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Willie Zollie Joines
ATHENS -- Funeral for Willie Zollie Joines, 91, of Athens will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Warren Glass and Grady Reyer officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Joines died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Athens Convalescent Center.
He was born Dec. 21, 1910, in Smithville, Tenn., to Zollie Joines and Malinda Smith Joines. He was a resident of Limestone County most of his life and a member of O'neal Church of Christ. He retired from Ragland Brothers Wholesale Grocery in Huntsville. He was the father of the late Myrtle Coffman.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Alma L. Joines; five daughters, Mary Davis of Hampton, Va., Nancy Rusk, Betty Jo Joines and Willie Mae Brooks, all of Athens, and Frances Louise Cottles of Madison; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Joines, William Jo Biggs, Brandon Biggs, Bradley Dollar, Zollie Dollar and J.V. McMunn.
Great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
Joseph Knable
Funeral for Joseph Knable, 87, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Culotta officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Knable died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Jockawa, Yugoslavia, to Andrew Knable and Julia Lorbach Knable. He emigrated to America when he was 6 years old. He was the widower of Lela Collins Knable.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Knable of Decatur and Joe Knable of Brighton, Mich.; two daughters, Laura Petrone of Roseville, Mich., and Carol Atchley of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bobby Malone
ATHENS -- Funeral for Bobby Malone, 56, of Decatur will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home with Earnestine Mason officiating.
Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery.
Mr. Malone died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1945, in Limestone County to Roosevelt Malone and Jennie Bell Malone.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Malone; four sons, Marvin Hines of Birmingham, and Joseph Hines, Tracy Hines and Kenneth Hamilton, all of Decatur; three daughters, Teresa Ann Coleman of Athens, and Teaneeka Malone and Janice Gamble, both of Decatur; two brothers, L.C. Malone of Knoxville and Tommy Malone of Nashville; three sisters, Ozell Gould of Knoxville, and Stella Malone and Jewel Cain, both of Athens; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
June Marie Mudgett
June Marie Mudgett, 78, of Trinity died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
She was born Feb. 16, 1923, in St. Jose, Mo., to John Harbord and Neva Harbord. She lived in the Kansas City, Mo., area before moving to Trinity in 1963.
Survivors include her husband, E.C. Mudgett; two daughters, Phyllis Hameilee and Donna Barton, both of San Antonio; two brothers, J.C. Harbord of Solathe, Kan., and Eldon Harbord of Kansas; one sister, Doris Ball of Pineville, La.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Walter Tom Perry
A private memorial service will be held for Walter Tom Perry, 60, of Danville.
Mr. Perry died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Lewisburg, Tenn., to John Frank Perry and Rachel Cherry Perry. He was retired from Kroger after 30 years, and he worked for Wal-Mart in Decatur. His constant companion was his dog, Banjo.
Survivors include his wife, Diann Perry; one daughter, Tammy Perry Dobbs of Boaz; two sons, Steven Perry of Toney and David Scott Perry of Huntsville; his mother of Shelbyville, Tenn.; two brothers, Lewis Perry of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Raymond Perry of Shelbyville; two sisters, Sandra Perry and Louise Farler, both of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the Hartselle animal shelter.
Christopher Thompson
ATHENS -- Funeral for Christopher Thompson, 32, of Huntsville and formerly of Athens, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Burrell officiating.
Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Huntsville. He was born April 2, 1969, in Limestone County to Johnny Crutcher Jr. and Mattie Thompson.
Survivors include his father of Athens and his mother of Huntsville.
Mattie Vance

Mrs. Vance died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her home. She was born Jan. 15, 1960, in Limestone County to James Hoard and Gracie Mae Baker Hoard. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Micheal E. Vance Jr. of Athens; her mother of Athens; three sisters, Roberta Brown of Decatur, and Gracie Hoard Turner and Latasha Hoard, both of Athens.
Vera McCluskey Clanton
Funeral for Vera McCluskey Clanton, 85, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Mike Nix officiating.

Mrs. Clanton died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Decatur. She was born Feb. 14, 1916, in Morgan County to William Christopher McCluskey and Lula Whitehead McCluskey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was the widow of Price Clanton.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Ray Clanton of Decatur; one sister, Betty Burger of St. Augustine, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Virgil Leon Depreast
TRINITY -- Graveside service for Virgil Leon Depreast, 73, of Danville, was to be today at noon at Johnson Chapel Cemetery, with the Rev. J.B. Snider officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Depreast died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Tut Fann Veterans Home. He was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Morgan County to Willie Depreast and Bessie Tanksley Depreast.
He was retired as the manager of the motor pool at Redstone Arsenal, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, in which he was awarded two Bronze Stars. Mr. Depreast was a member of Meadow Drive Baptist Church in Huntsville. He was the brother of the late Ruby McVay.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Depreast; two brothers, James Depreast and Willard Depreast, both of Hartselle, and Clifton Depreast of Danville; two sisters, Lois Nethery of Hartselle and Christine Nethery of Danville.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Ray Ransom, Cody Cantrell, Travis Nethery, Martin Depreast, Josh Jetton, and Darrell McVay.
