Darren Wade Jones

PULASKI, Tenn. -- Funeral for Darren Wade Jones, 23, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002. He was born Oct. 4, 1978, in Atlanta to Larry Jones and Paula Jones. He was serving in the United States Army.

Survivors include his parents of Athens; his grandmother, Polly Jones of Pulaski; one brother, Blake Jones of Athens; and one sister, Jennifer Turner of Athens.

Grace Jones

Funeral for Grace Jones, 83, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Danville with the Rev. Maxieveil Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Campground Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Ms. Jones died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at a nursing home in Tennessee. She was born April 15, 1918, in Morgan County to John Orr and Annie Orr. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Bobbie Sharpley.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Pointer and Clara Orr, both of Hartselle; two sisters, Helen Hullett of Hartselle and Lee Ethel Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

June Marie Mudgett

June Marie Mudgett, 78, of Trinity died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home is directing arrange- ments.

Mrs. Mudgett was born Feb. 16, 1923, in St. Jose, Mo., to John Harbord and Neva Harbord. She lived in the Kansas City, Mo., area before moving to Trinity in 1963.

Survivors include her husband, E.C. Mudgett; two daughters, Phyllis Hameilee and Donna Barton, both of San Antonio; two brothers, J.C. Harbord of Solathe, Kan., and Eldon Harbord of Kansas; one sister, Doris Ball of Pineville, La.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mattie Odell Norton

ATHENS -- Funeral for Mattie Odell Norton, 93, of Athens will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Bailey and the Rev. Randy Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Norton died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Athens Convalescent Center. She was born May 12, 1908, in Limestone County to John Cagle and Florence Bice Cagle.

She was the widow of Carl Monroe Norton, mother of the late Robert Norton, Howard Norton and Charles Norton, and sister of the late Clarence Cagle, Ethel Scoggins and Evie Cagle. She was a member of Round Island Baptist Church. She retired as a dietician from Reid Elementary School, where she worked for 21 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mable Norton and Nellie Miller, both of Athens; one son, Donald W. Norton of Athens; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Randall Norton, Ryan Norton, Jonathan McCrary, Justin Miller, Danny Curnett, Larry Miller, Jeff Payne and Jimmy Woodward.

Harold W. 'Boots' Summerford

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Harold W. "Boots" Summerford, 87, of Falkville will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Falkville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Weldon officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Summerford died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born April 9, 1914, in Morgan County to Edward Turner Summerford and Kittie Mae Brown Summerford. He was a member of Falkville First United Methodist Church.

He owned and operated a general merchandise store in Falkville for 30 years. He is brother of the late Homer T. Summerford and Howard O. Summerford.

Survivors include his wife, Alice T. Summerford; two sons, Jerry Summerford of Madison and Phillip Summerford of Falkville; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Anders, James R. Nelson, Mal Patterson, J.J. Summerford, Jack Summerford and Robert Summerford.

Memorials may be made to Falkville First United Meth- odist Church.

Essie Lou Webster Thornton

WINFIELD -- Funeral for Essie Lou Webster Thornton, 79, of Decatur was to be today at 11 a.m. at Miles Funeral Home with the Rev. William E. Atkinson officiating.

Burial will be in West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Guin.

Mrs. Thorton died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at National Health Care in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She was born Dec. 16, 1922, in Fayette County to William Bert Webster and Jennie Ann Lucas Webster.

She was the widow of Thirstol Thornton Sr., and mother of the late Nila Dunivant.

Survivors include two sons, Thirstol T. "Buddy" Thornton Jr. of Melbourne, Fla., and Bert Thornton of Smyrna, Tenn.; one daughter, Anna Thornton Williams of Kingston, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Bethany Chandler

TRUSSVILLE -- Funeral for Elizabeth Bethany Chandler, 73, of Gatesville, Texas, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Jim Bethany officiating.

Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Chandler died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Temple, Texas. She was born June 9, 1928, in Decatur. She had lived in Trussville and Gatesville, Texas. She was a member of Mountain Baptist Church in Gatesville. She was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She was the widow of John W. Chandler Jr. and the sister of the late Jane Phillips and the late Mary Sue Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Wesley Chandler of Gatesville and John Steven Chandler of Wilmington, N.C.; one brother, C.W. Bethany of Virginia; one sister, Lois Kemper of Florida; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ivin Dwight Davis

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ivin Dwight Davis, 54, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Don Osborne officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Davis died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in Dalton, Ga. He was born Feb. 20, 1947, in Limestone County to Claude Davis and Detsye Thorne Davis. He was a United States Army veteran and a truck driver for Swift Transportation Co. He owned Farmer Supply Store and Cartwright Grocery in Athens.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Evan Davis; one son, Ivin Trace Davis of Athens; three daughters, Michelle Davis Morehead of Fayetteville, Tenn., Tina Davis Carter of Elkmont and Detsye Ann Davis of Athens; one brother, Hal Davis of Athens; two sisters, Gloria Evans of Elkmont and Tela Smith of Bear Creek; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Pinkerton, Christopher Gray, Marty Nicholson, Travis McElyea, Roger Dale Swanner and David Andrews.

Don Ray Graham

ATHENS -- Funeral for Don Ray Graham, 66, of Athens will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Eugene Persell officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Graham died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Limestone County to George Edward Graham and Irma Irene Hudson Graham. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Oakland Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Graham of Las Vegas; and his mother of Athens.

Pallbearers will be Orbie Lee Carpenter, Wade Gilbert, Roger Hammonds, Jim Patterson, Houston Ball and Herman Marks.

Clyde Alvin Hannah

ATHENS -- Funeral for Clyde Alvin Hannah, 92, of Lester will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Arvid McGuire and Bill Irby officiating.

Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hannah died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Florence Comprehensive Care Center. He was born July 26, 1909, in Giles County, Tenn., to Robert A. Hannah and Beulah Gibbs Hannah. He was retired from P.R. Mallory in Huntsville and was a member of Craig's Chapel Church of Christ. Mr. Hannah was the widower of Iva Cleo Gray Hannah and the widower of Gertrude Butler Hannah.

Survivors include one son, Billy Gray Hannah of Athens; two daughters, Bettye Grisham of Florence and Janet Owens of Lester; one brother, Melvin Hannah of Los Angeles; two sisters, Arlene Wright and Eunice Lake, both of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Benjie Owens, Steve Owens, Mark Grisham, Joel Murphy, Danny Wood, Rick Helms and Paul Harvell.

Annie Harris

Funeral for Annie Harris, 81, of Green brier, will be Thursday at noon at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe H. Cater officiating.

Burial will be in Ragland Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Harris died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born March 20, 1920, in Green brier to Charlie and Pauline Harris.

Survivors include eight sisters, Ardelia Tisdale of Green brier, Lottie M. Toney, Katherine Cooper and Katherine Parker, all of Decatur, Lillie P. Bledsoe of Chattanooga, Olivia Bledsoe of Athens, and Golden Grizzard and Annie D. Wallace, both of Madison; four brothers, Howard Harris of Decatur, Herbert Harris of Green brier, Henry Bledsoe of Cleveland, Ohio, and Willie J. Bledsoe of Montgomery.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

John Cecil Haynes

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for John Cecil Haynes, 78, of Falkville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Weldon officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Haynes died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born June 1, 1923, in Morgan County to John Sherman Haynes and Olena Elizabeth Blevins Haynes. He worked as a pipefitter and in refrigeration at NASA for 15 years.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a merchant marine for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Haynes; one brother, Milton Haynes of Hartselle; and one sister, Lillie Murphy of Falkville.

Pallbearers will be James Brown, Chris Brown, Don Haynes, Louis Murphy, Clint Blankenship and Wayne Blankenship.
